I'm pretty bummed with my experience. I've been referred by friends/family and read the Yelp reviews.. Perhaps I ordered the wrong menu item? I tried the "new" veggie sandwich (grilled eggplant, fresh mozzarella, sundried tomatoes, topped with spinach and served on a honey wheat roll. $7.75) It SOUNDS amazing but overall, it was pretty weak -- the portioning and flavoring. The boyfriend ordered Jack's Classic (chargrilled tri-tip, oven roasted turkey, chargrilled chicken breast, caramelized onions, leaf lettuce, tomato, mayo & honey mustard on a fresh baked sourdough roll. $7.75), he said it was OK. I'll give Jack's another go (hopefully I can raise my two star rating). Perhaps it was an off day? The salads look big and tasty. Came here on Saturday (1/26) with a group of friends. I ordered the Sonoma Steak Sandwich, Urban Fries, Mac & Cheese, and washed it down with a Racer 5. The Sandwich was incredibly dry. I ate half and would not continue. The Urban Fries were great. I loved the spice. The Mac & Cheese was tasteless, a very poor offering. I could not find fault with the Racer 5. It was delicious and reasonably priced at $3.75. I (and the rest of the party) was disappointed with the food at Jacks. There will not be another visit. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with this style of restaurant. I have eaten at Jack's many times and the food is decent. However, every time we go to Jack's in Folsom specifically we receive bad service. We usually order two salads and maybe fries. They always remember the second salad we order and forget about the first one. So we are sitting there with half the food only to go up to the counter and remind them about the second salad. They usually respond with "oh ya, sorry we forgot or oh, my bad". Next we went recently went with our 1yr old son and I believe we left his baby shoe there. I tried to call to check and yet again.... More difficulty. They don't answer the phone or take messages and the website refers you to a mailing address. Luckily for Jack's they make decent salads but I will definitely exhaust other dining options before I go back. This place is my main squeeze, I'll manipulate my friends so that we can go get lunch here if that gives you a general idea of how i feel about Jacks. I get the same thing everytime because its amazing everytime. BBQ tri tip baby all the way. Besides i don't have to worry about calories becuase when i bro up with my tank on all calories become good calories. I have always really liked Jack's so it hurts to write this. I have been to a few of their locations. This one however is the worst. This negative review is mostly related to customer service. I came in tonight with my toddler in arms to order a quick snack to hold us over until dinner. This time I ordered a kids chicken and fries with a side of roasted veggies. Pretty simple. I asked that the veggies be brought out with the rest of the order so they are hot when they arrive and so I can carry my toddler to the table. First thing the ladies at the register do-dish up the veggies for me to somehow figure out how to carry back. I said no and to please bring them out with the rest of the order. Without any help from staff, I managed to get a kids seat on my own (one handed) fortunately they were light weight. No offer of help from any staff. When the order arrived I asked if we could get some flatware. I was told "oh they are over there in the back". At this point my face probably contorted in a mildly angry/annoyed way. I pointed to my 18 month old and said "I can't leave him". The staff person begrudgingly went and got two forks and one tiny napkin. One of the two forks was dirty (pic attached) and when had anyone ever just used one napkin when eating french fries. The food was ok and typical for Jack's. I expected much better service. Not over the top service. Just courteous service. Considering the proximity of this location to Java Mama I would think more ladies with toddlers would be coming by from time to time. It wouldn't kill the staff to lend a hand to move a toddler chair, bring out a whole order to the table on request, or supply clean eating utensils and napkins. read more

Decent food but some irritating negatives. Could not order some of the online menu items. They said they were no longer offered. They said it had been almost a year since they carried such things as Sonoma steak sandwich or thai prawns salad. You would think they would keep their online menu updated but no. Also I asked for onion rings when I saw a big bunch of them on a salad but then they said they don't offer them separate only as a salad topping. Disappointing. As I said decent food but a lot of negatives. counter persons were very rushed not very customer friendly; they all act frazzled. Been there a few times. Foods good kids enjoy it. Their ordering 'process' (ill use that term loosely), leaves quite a bit to be desired. Not only does it leave the guest wondering how it works, its inefficient and unnecessary. People should either take orders or prepare food...not both. Drinks are overpriced. (And I have to walk up and ask for a refill as opposed to having a drink station available for guests to self serve). Employees could be a little more personable. When I say thank you, a reply of you're welcome would most likely be appropriate. Jacks should take a cue from in n out burger. At the risk of sounding old and non-hipsterish, could the youth of today stop putting those large thjngs in their ear lobes? Wouldn't it be easier to just wear a shirt that said "I'm an idiot"? I order a steak salad to go. Got back to work and realize there was no steak in my salad. Attempted to call several time to let them know I'm going back for my steak after work because i did not have enough time to drive there and back in order to get back to work on time. No answer. I heard someone pick up the phone twice and just hung up. I don't expect everyone to be perfect but to not answer calls or pick up the phone and hang up on customer is plain rude. I really enjoy Jack's every time I visit my sis. The interior is very cute and hip and the staff is typically very friendly and accomodating. (4-5) I love the variety of lunch choices Jack's has to offer. The Hawaiian chicken sandwich was good, the chicken wasn't too dry but the mayo was in abundance (3). The gravy and mashed potatoes were hearty and delish and portion size was generous for $1.75 ( 4-5). My sis enjoyed the classic turkey sandwich and fries (4). I love that you can make your own salad and choose from fresh ingredients ( everything from strawberries to hicama to blue cheese) Some other favorites of ours: the tri-trip sandwich, trip-salad and mac n cheese. If I lived here I would me trying the Spicy Buffalo Salad, the Portobello and Artichoke Sandwich, Garlic Fries, Broccoli and Cheese, and Mixed Vegetables. GUESS WHAT ELSE I WOULD BE TRYING BITCHES ? A Possible Panda Express Scandal... I'm a regular at this Jack's location. On a weekday between 5pm and 6pm, things were starting get busy. I wanted to sit at a booth. With only 1 out of 8 booths occupied, none of the tables at the booths were cleaned up. I went out to the cashier to tell her that tables needed to be cleaned up, and would rather sit at a booth. She told me, "The busser's just arrived. They'll get to it." I walked away with a single-worded, mono-toned, "Wow." I'm pretty sure she caught my message - no teamwork from the front kitchen-side to help clean up the tables. Too good to clean tables, eh? Minutes after I'd sat down at the higher bar-type tables, the cashier I alerted came out to begin cleaning the tables herself. She seemed uncomfortable doing them, but knew they had to be cleaned. I give her credit though for the effort (blonde, wearing jeans shorts). One of the guys I usually see there bussing tables finally showed up. I always say hi to him. I asked him, "Why aren't the other people at the kitchen area covering you guys and bussing the tables?" I guess he didn't quite understand me: "They had me working and washing dishes in the kitchen." Somehow throughout this whole thing, I got the, "Let the token _____ to clean the tables." The jury is still out on this one. What I'm I whining about? The teamwork may be sucking here. I have ALWAYS heard good things about Jacks but I never got a chance to try it since I live in the boonies of Elk Grove and the closest one was in Arden. well living with my brother for 6 months in Folsom I finally got a chance to try Jacks and it was SOOO GOOD! their trip tip sandwich was AMAZING! I usually don't like bbq sauce but it went sooo well with the sandwich I couldn't help it, the garlic fries, perfection! and the salad I got (I think it was salmon) soo good. I usually don't like cold seafood, besides sushi, but this was soo good. everything was perfect... everyone seems to be complaining about the staff.. well they really don't do much. you get your food yourself, all they really do is ask what you want on your salad at most.. Probably a 3.8. I like this places mac and cheese and that about sums it up. I have tried so meticulously to recreate it and guess what... its impossible. Make fun of me all you want little mister and misses know it alls!!! The other food is really good too. I always get me a nice BBQ chicken sandwich which has some nice onion strings and heavenly goodness and maybe fairy dust. Most everything you order here is pretty good and I always make the trip when I am in the folsom. The portion sizes are pretty decent, especially the salads. And their meat is fresh tender and ya know... stuff!! The one downside, it is pretty pricey, but the mac n cheese is so worth it! as long as its a fresh batch... otherwise SOL (not sun in spanish). The workers are all pretty nice and they usually hire hot males and females so... that isnt too bad. I grew accustomed to great Jack's Urban Eats fare working downtown within close proximity to the other three JUE locations. When the Folsom restaurant opened in 2006 I was ecstatic that JUE was in my back yard. Unfortunately, the Folsom JUE has let me down on several occasions serving inconsistent portion sizes, serving over done (burnt) meats, and on several occasions I have witnessed JUE employees (including the manager) engage in horrible food handling practices (bare handed food handling, touching rags and then bread and sandwich buns, touching money and then food, etc.). We rarely frequent this location anymore even though it is within blocks of our home. I would give 1-start but for the excellent service and food quality at other locations (Midtown, Fair Oaks and Del Paso-Natomas). I love JUE, with the exception of the Folsom location. Garlic fries and Urban fries are always a must. Can never go wrong with create your own salad with unlimited combinations of salad ingredients. Folsom's JUE is like an out-post that's just far enough from HQ that it does its own thing to its own detriment. read more

Reminds me of a less healthy Plutos. There are salads, sandwiches/burgers, and sides. The salads are customizable but I opted for a Santa Fe Chicken Salad. The bf got a philly cheese steak sandwich and we shared a small order of urban fries, which looked absolutely delicious from the yelp photos we stalked. The salad was alright, nothing spectacular. Huge portion and I ended up not finishing my plate. For the steep price, they better provide me with enough for two meals! The ingredients were pretty fresh, except the chicken looked like the refrigerated pre-grilled kind you get at grocery markets. It tasted alright. I had a bite of the philly cheese steak sandwich and we both agreed that it just tasted like a regular cheese steak but with different bread. The fries, though, omyGAWD. When I had my first bite I thought it was alright, but as I kept eating and getting the different sauces they had on there I was hooked. The creamy sauce went perfectly with the drizzling of chili oil. The fries themselves were perfectly crispy and seasoned just enough with salt. I don't live in or near Folsom but, I came through to pick up my cousin to take her away for the weekend. Before we got out of town the family and I went here. I had never heard of it and am sort of picky so I was impressed with the line out the door on a Friday at 12:30. I knew this must be good! I selected the Buffalo Chicken Salad and it was made right before my eyes. It was fresh and HUGE... I wasn't even able to eat half... well I ate all the chicken because the sauce was amazing. But, the more then half the greens were left. My Cousin ate Mac and Cheese and loved every bite. I will for sure go here again next time I am in town. Im not really a fan of Jacks Urban Eats. People just love this place and I'm not sure exactly why. My wife comes here for the chicken caesar salad and loves it. She also gets the cheese bread which always arrives hard, cold, and tastes old. The Jack's Fries are the only thing that I eat here now- everything else just seems mediocre and over hyped. The ordering system for the restaurant is a bit unique and sort of irritating to the uninitiated. The prices also seem pretty high for what you get. Personally I'd be happy never eating here again. Sure the fries are good, but going out just to eat fries isn't something I want to do frequently. My wife will continue to force me to come her to buy her overpriced salads with huge rock-hard croutons that she enjoys so I'll just suck it up and come along quietly. read more

Yummy! I go to folsom Lake college and this is the perfect place to stop at to grab a quick bite before my nxt class. I get the Chicken club ( swiss cheese, baccon, amazing mustard!!, mayo, lettuce, avo, tomato, chicken on a grilled white bread) add some mac and cheese or garlic mashed potatoes! it is a lot of food so find someone to share with you! They also serve sandwiches, meat dishes and much more. I highly recommend their urban fries, which are covered in bleu cheese and spicy chili oil. So tasty! On a weekend or at the noon lunch hour, there can be a crowd. I'd recommend coming early or late. read more

***BEST FRENCH FRIES*** Two words: urban fries. These changed my life when I discovered them 7 years ago. It combines three of my most favorite things: crispy french fries, creamy blue cheese and spice from the hot chili oil and red pepper flakes. It really is a perfect dish and my MOST favorite food. I strongly encourage that you try them (and ask for "extra urban sauce!" It makes them even better!). Aside from the fries, I would probably give Jack's 4 stars. Been coming here since the day they opened. I used to always drive to the Pavillions in Sac just to get Jacks, but it's great to see they've expanded throughout the 916. Now they just need to come to the San Francisco bay area!! Jack's is the perfect casual place to dine in or to grab for take out. I don't live in the area anymore, but this is always the first place I think of when planning to catch up with an old friend. I've tried almost everything on the menu, and everything is good! Good and constant. Its predictable. The quality is good and the staff is generally quick and helpful if not a bit reserved. I am a regular with the classic turkey sandwich or buffalo chicken salad. The urban fries are great too. My kids dig the macaroni and cheese and the chicken-fingers-buffalo-style. My only real complaint is the cost but I guess that is our fault. It is pretty pricey for a family of four at lunch. There is not enough indoor seating here. The place was overspilling today at lunch in the rain. I have been a regular here for the past 2 years ever since the first time i took a bite of the chicken club. I try to come here at least once a week to get a chicken club with fries. I havent had a chicken club anywhere else that is comparable or even hits the spot like the one here! The service is great and the food comes out at a very reasonable time. The food continues to be OK, but the location is going downhill fast. Some of the recent menu changes have not been for the better, but that's not the reason for the review. My updated review is based around an ongoing issue at this location: Management seriously needs to consider regulating the seating situation. Too often have my wife and I waited in line, received our food, and then walked around looking for a seat only to find all the tables being 'held' by a single person while the rest of their group waits in a 15 minute line. So, we stand there, glaring at people texting on their phones, while our food gets cold. It makes for an unnecessarily stressful lunch that sours the entire experience. Typically, I am the type to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume that common courtesy will prevail and customers will voluntarily give up a seat, but after running into this situation on a half-dozen consecutive occasions, I can't do it anymore. So, until management implements a way to regulate this during busy hours, my wife and I will not be visiting. Sorry Jack's. The concept is still awesome and the food continues to be above par, but the experience is rapidly deteriorating. It seems like a simple fix, but I wouldn't expect your staff of high school kids to take the initiative here. Management has to be the catalyst. I will update this rating once things improve. First time at any location of Jack's urban eats. It is sort of like a Panera bread setup, with food more expensive than Panera. The lines were long during weekday lunch hours. It cost be around 10$ just for a Buffalo chicken sandwich without any sides. The sandwich had a great flavor with a decent amount of blue cheese. But the quantity of the sandwich or the chicken didn't justify the price at this fast food chain. They didn't even wipe all the grease off my Togo box. For some reason some people got paper bags for the Togo orders, I didn't get any. read more

Reliable joint where we eat about once a week. Good selection of sandwiches and design-your-own salads from about 20 ingredients. Salads have always been good and are *huge* -- I usually get a half salad with some chicken on top and end up well-filled. Sandwiches are pretty good, but not quite as consistent as the salads -- once or twice I've gotten ones with bread that was a little dry/stale. Side dishes are good but of limited choices: mac and cheese, mashed potatoes (regular or garlic), broccoli and cheese. Wish they'd add a couple more options for cooked veggies, or at least rotate something for a little variety. Enjoy the Urban Fries with cheese and chili oil and feel your arteries harden. You can tell a place is trying to be trendy when it replaces standard iced tea with some cloyingly sweet, fruity iced tea -- wish they could manage to serve both. Place is pretty popular, and sometimes the dinner hour line to order food can get quite long, and once or twice we've had to wander around with our food waiting for an open table. One of my favorite spots in Folsom. We come here it seems like at least once a week. I have never left unsatisfied, everything I have tried here was great. My personal favorites, which never get old, are the urban fries, mac and cheese, spicy buffalo salad, spicy buffalo sandwich, and the cajun chicken sandwich. You really cannot go wrong with those. This is a review of the Banh Mi sandwich. A good Banh Mi is really about the veggies, with their complex flavors. Jack's does not understand this. The sandwich is not that large, but has a ton of meat and very few veggies. While the meat is tasty, the sandwich just is not Banh Mi quality. Best to skip it and stick to the American sandwiches. read more

Good food, the garlic fries with blue cheese dressing are amazing!! However... their food is WAY over priced. We have a family of 4. We ordered a sandwich, two salads, and a chicken strip kids meal and drinks.....the total for everything was $50!! Really? Its good, but not $50 for lunch good. Only 3 things on the menu for kids... for $6 or you can order off of the main menu for $$$$$. The two girls that took our order were extremely rude...
