I received a gift card over the holidays, there is no way for me to use it when I order online, it is not an option. I tried to call the store so that I could place my order and still use my gift card, they refused to do so even though is has been done once for me before. I still have $70 to spend and I'm being told I can only order in person to redeem it. I find this absolutely ridiculous. The fact that it's not an option to order online, and then the local Folsom restaurant is rude and gave me horrible customer service. I came here recently and this was my first time at the Folsom location. It was a decent experience. Overall the ambiance is the same as the other ones I've been too. It has a causal and laid back feel. It is a quick bite- but not quite fast food. If you order something from the menu and not from something from the servings in front of you, then you will probably wait close to 10 minutes for your food to come out. It was pretty busy inside, and we didn't wait longer than that. The drinks are self served, they have everything pretty much- minus alcohol. We got Mac and cheese and the chicken nuggets, fries, sweet potato fries- for the two kids, that was more than enough for them to share. Then my husband got a tri tip burger, he enjoyed that. I got the Sante Fe chicken salad, it's huge- so much to eat, and if you've had it before, they have made changes recently- it's on the spicy side. I enjoyed it for the most part. The dessert was the cookie, that was pretty good. Overall my experience was pretty average but good. I would probably go back if I'm near the area. I will probably recommend it. read more

Was in town for business and the hotel front desk clerk suggested Jack's, and she knows what she's talking about! The young lady assisting me with my order was very helpful in describing my many salad options to help with my Weight Watchers goals for the meal. The food was very fresh, the atmosphere upbeat, and I was very pleased with the experience. I wish we had a Jack's in my neighborhood in Jersey! I highly recommend this establishment! I ordered 2 steaks salads. Both of the salads had under cooked steak in them. This is the third time in a row now so I felt like I should mention this. Normally I do like Jack's salads, but for some reason recently they are not cooking the steak in my salads all the way. I have provided pictures of the salads. See for yourselves. From now on I need to check all the food for to-go orders. I had to take the steak out of the salads and cook them before eating. The first time I got undercooked meat I decided to cook it and eat it, but got really sick the next day. I'm thinking this was because of cross contamination from the salad and meat. We come here often because it's quick, fresh and well to be honest they have one of my guilty pleasures... Urban Fries! OMG those alone are worth the trip!!!! My faves here are the Steak Salad (I swap the regular red onions with their marinated red onions), their Banh Mi sandwich is really good with extra sauce (can be kinda dry sometimes) and their Buffalo Chicken sandwich is really good but rich so it's best to share if you can. They serve bottled beer and wine which is nice. They have some side dishes that are really good like roasted veggies and corn with chili & lime. I hardly ever leave reviews but I'm incredibly frustrated with this place. Jack's Urban Eats has always been a fave of ours in Folsom. Great food and great service. Not sure what changed but that is definitely not the case here anymore and they have lost my business. The last 3 times there have been mistakes on our orders. Gave us regular fries when we upgraded to sweet potato....totally forgot the $7 salmon on a salad and all we got was an "oops do you want to drive back and get it?"....and now a tri-tip plate that an entire side was just missing. Sometimes they are very nice and friendly, while other times some have been very rude and not so helpful, making the whole experience uncomfortable. The food has also been a hit or miss. The very first time I went here I got food poisoning. After about a year my friend's talked me in going back in. Moreover, sometimes their well known fries are made perfectly and delicious, while other times they have very minimal of the toppings and look just like regular fries. The salads are really great and for $6.95 you can get a half salad with any 6 toppings and add meat for another $2. I've going to this Jack's three times recently. The manager really needs to train his employees about customer service. When their customers are in line, they need to be helped and not ignored. Personal conversations need to be saved for later. One time I stood there for five minutes being completely ignored, then one of the employees finally looked up and had a conversation with his friends behind me, without acknowleding that I was waiting to be helped. Last night a friend drove out to Folsom and we decided to go there again. One employee asked me what I wanted and as I was responding she turned around and had a conversation with somebody else. Another employee did the same thing to the friend I was with. My friend was shocked at the poor service. Although I like their food, their service really sucks. I went to their website to see who I can contact regarding the lack of service, and all correspondence is to be written to an address in Sacramento. Someone posted a meme that flashed on my FB news feed: "If Kim and Kanye were drowning, and you only had time to save one...what kind of sandwich would you make?" I instinctively answered "Reuben" and then for the next couple hours couldn't stop thinking about the best Reuben sandwich I ever had (at the Grand Cafe diner in the Palace Station, Las Vegas) Finally I had to search Yelp for where I could find a good Reuben, and came across a review for Jack's that mentioned their Reuben. It's nearby, so I gave it a shot. The place has a surreal quality, akin to when you're on vacation in another city and Jeopardy comes on at 7:30 instead of 7. Just something about it seems slightly out of phase. You walk in, and it looks like a full service sit-down restaurant to the left, but you quickly figure out that it's not. Well, actually, it's a strange hybrid. There are no signs or helpful employees to explain, so when there's not a crowd to follow, it's not clear what to do. There are menus in a rack next to the cash register, so I figured you place your order there (same as several others thought, who came in after me). A friendly employee greeted me with "Are you ready to order?" "Yes." Then, "This isn't where you order, you need to go down to the salad bar." At the "salad bar" I was asked for my name. I gave it, along with my order and was handed a sheet of paper with my order written on it, no instructions or directions. But I rightly assumed that I should proceed to the register. At the register, there were two guys. One of them was clearly working the register so I moved towards him with my paper, and the other guy called out to me, "Here, I'll take your bar tag for you." I handed him my "bar tag" and he immediately handed it over to the other guy, right next to him on the register. This is a two man register operation. He rang me up and handed me a giant metal stand with a number on it, again without explanation. They had just taken my name for some reason, but now they are giving me a table number? Just to be sure, I asked, "So...will you call my name, or my number, or will you bring it out to me?" His answer: "Yeah". OK, I walked right into that one. Please note, none of this is a complaint. Everyone was friendly and nice. it was just strange. I guess the reason why they asked my name is that they are collecting meta data for the NSA, because they brought the sandwich to my table (sans the fries), and now I wish I would've told them my name was Eric Snowden. I immediately noted that unlike so many other places, they don't overdo it with the meat. Boy how they don't overdo it with the meat! A Reuben should be toasted, so I assume that's what this one was. It seemed more like they may have started to toast it, then changed their mind. The end result was bread that resembled stale more than toasted. The sandwich lacked real Reuben flavor, along with the fries I had ordered. About halfway through the second part of the sandwich my "Urban Fries" finally arrived. Not crispy, not hot. They looked and tasted like they had been doctored by a stoner. Creative. Unusual. Not bad. Do they actually follow a recipe for this? Something was definitely off about the Reuben; something missing. What was it? I couldn't quite put my finger on it until my next-to-last bite. There was no Swiss cheese! Doh! I was going to give 3 stars, but then I saw that the Yelp definition of 2 stars is "Meh, I've experienced better". Jack's is the textbook definition of "Meh". Thoroughly adequate. read more

How long does it take to make a sandwich in an empty restaurant 20 minutes before closing time? Answer: 11 minutes. Seems kinda long. As much of the staff was already in the midst of its closing regimen, it's hard to know how much of that time was actually spent preparing my food. In my teens I worked for Baskin-Robbins. We used to hide bananas in a cooler 30 minutes before closing so we could complete the tedious process of banana split station clean-up as soon as possible and get out of the store a little earlier. If an order came in we would insincerely apologize for being out of bananas as someone was putting the final shine on the chrome. Bad form. But we were teenagers - we didn't care. And the scam worked great until we forgot to remove the bananas one night and the owner found them--black--the next morning. The crew leader was fired. I really enjoyed my experience here, however, I can't rate them 5 stars due to my husbands bad customer service experience. I love carved meat. They have some really great choices of main entrée, not to mention the wonderful selection of sides. The mac and cheese is soo good. The mashed taters are pretty good, too. The broccoli is a huge portion and comes with some cheese melted on top. My kind of food. My hubby didn't like the kids behind the counter. Knowing that it would be tough to find a spot to eat on a Saturday night at 630pm, we ventured into Jack's. We were part of a group of 7 adults and 2 kids. The line was long, understandable, and it moved decently fast. Unfortunately our meals were all bland and just not good. The presentation was okay, but really the food was terrible. Everyone agreed all 6 ordered sandwiches were dry, and the Mac and Cheese was absolutely flavorless. I would have been happier with Kraft. The food was not even the worst part- So at Jack's when you order, the customer brings specific menu items to the table with them, and some comes from a server- I want to share exactly what happened with the server- When she approached our table she looked blankly at one of our (half Asian) friends, the server stood there with 2 plates and said, "I have the...the...the Chinese...No, I have the...a Sonoma Steak..."
