One of my go to spots in Williamsburg for brunch! We got there around noon and we're told there will be about 30 minutes wait. The restaurant has a cozy vibe to it. I find that the seats are tight and there is not a lot of wiggle room. Their menu includes kids meals which is good because of one of my friends brought her kid to eat here. They also provide coloring activities for the kids while waiting for the meal to come. The staff are friendly and courteous. There is restrooms for customers. The Mediterranean bowl was good, it has spaghetti squash, avocado, scrambled eggs. Would definitely come back again to try different food item!! read more

A hearty breakfast on a frigid cold Sunday morning in Billyburg. Isn't that what we all want out of life? Great service, noisy place but homey vibe as well. I had the sandwich with duck bacon, egg, and cheese, plus multipack of pretty good coffee. The first location opened in 2011 and they have 5 locations in NYC now! This weekend was our third visit to the very busy Brooklyn location and, per usual, it lived up to the hype!! This diverse menu offers an eclectic selection of mastered dishes inspired by South Africa, Israel and NYC, complimented by imaginative cocktails. We began with the Sunshine on Carmine and Margarita Rocks cocktails and the Fried Halloumi as an appetizer. I have indulged in fried Halloumi before, but JFW takes it up several notches! The brilliant combination of mildly hot spice, sweet grapes and drizzle of EVOO are the perfect partner to this cheese turning what could lean heavy to a light and lovely explosion of flavor! It was so delectable it was hard not to request a second order!!! For our entrees we selected the Salmon a la Plancha and Peri Peri Chicken. The Salmon was expertly prepared, brushed with a slightly sweet, nutty and tangy sesame soy glaze, slivers of radish, toasted sesame seeds and served over the most delicious tender sauteed kale!! A perfect plate for these hot summer days.. substantially satisfying but not too imposing The Peri Peri Chicken was incredible! A spatchcock chicken boasting a citrusy/spicy flavor, roasted to perfection but still tender and juicy! Served with a bright diced cucumber salad to offset the heat from the sliced jalapenos that top this beautiful chicken, it was a true culinary delight!!! Last, we decided to give Noam's Malva Pudding a try after our attendant provided a spot-on flavor description. This very delicate, fluffy and light South African sponge cake is soaked in a sweet caramel syrup and served with a generous amount of fresh whipped cream. The cake was tender and vanilla forward and the whipped cream was not overly sweet, so it complimented the cake without overpowering the star of this incredible treat! I am always stoked when a restaurant maintains what made it outstanding for the long haul. JFW is one of those places..consistently delicious!! I'm glad I gave this chain another chance because when I first tried it last year (chelsea location), I was quite underwhelmed. I came here for lunch because I was craving branzino. It's a bit pricey here but it was honestly one of the best branzino's I've ever had. The sauces are perfect pairing too. Plus service is pretty good here. My only complaint is that they squeeze too many tables in here that you don't really get a sense of privacy and its hard to get in and out - literally a foot of space between tables. read more

My daughter raved about the burger, calling it divine. I ordered the butternut squash soup, and it was absolutely perfect--smooth, flavorful, and comforting. My friend got Jack's breakfast (steak, eggs, potatoes), which was $30 and laughably came with only two tiny potatoes and not even a full slice of bread. I've only been to the soho spot prior to this visit and had no clue this was a franchise with four locations. The food is still quite yummy and clearly they have a great chef who know how to execute the menu and be consistent. The stars are just for the quantity and pricing. Pictured is (,) sad jacks breaksfast with a joke sized beef and the tiniest piece of bread they could possibly cut. Also the meat was more well done than medium rare as requested. Again super yummy but that does not justify $$. Overall this is definitely a go to spot only if you aren't hungry one bit and want to spend family time with family or strangers and have a spritzer or two. Oh and get the sponge cake! It's not at all one but a bread pudding but it is definitely a worthy sponge cake. A few years ago, I had brunch at Jack's Wife Freda's SoHo location, and remembered enjoying the food and the vibe. So when I saw they opened up a restaurant in Williamsburg, I knew I had to check it out. My table started with the roasted cauliflower; it was a simple dish, with capers and garlic dressing, but something I would likely reorder in the future. For my entree, I got the grilled eggplant baguette. The eggplant and tomato tasted fresh, as did the mozzarella. I'm not a huge fan of olives, but the olive tapenade wasn't overpowering. It combined well with the pesto and the sandwich's other ingredients. For dessert, I had the flourless chipotle chocolate cake. I've been here twice for brunch, and this place is nice. Cozy, welcoming, and trendy, this is a good place to meet up with a friend, the in-laws, or even a large group thanks to the big communal table. The outdoor shed is heated and bright, but I certainly recommend getting a table inside. All the food I've tried is good: From the poached eggs with grilled halloumi cheese, to the green shakshuka; from the breakfast sandwich to the rosewater waffle. Prices are not cheap, but that was expected. Great service, with super-attentive yet unintrusive servers. If you come for brunch, it gets very busy late in the morning, and then things quiet down a bit at around 12 noon. Also, I like how they go the extra mile to make kids feel welcome here: They have a kids' menu with all items at $10, and the back of the menu itself is designed to be used for drawing. Serving size was 76wings per regular order ($16). The Chicken was clearly grilled properly and the quality of the meat was there but boy was that a flavorless wing. How a wing could be so flavorless while also tasting so charred is beyond me. The Peri-Peri sauce was similarly devoid of any spice - I actually had to mainline a spoon of Cholula from my fridge just to confirm I hadn't lost my sense of taste ahead of a round of covid ! Ultimately, all this - from the price to the seasoning - is understandable, given their clientele and locations, but what really shocked me was the side item I ordered to hit my $25 order minimum, the duck bacon. In the photo on Uber Eats the Duck Bacon looks like a strip of slab meat, similar to what you might find at Peter Luger's other upscale spots offering bacon as a side. What got delivered to me were three of the limpest, smallest excuse for a rashers I've ever seen in my life, let alone duck. $9 for less than 3 grams of food... wild read more
