Loved the food. We were seated downstairs which was ok since the upstairs was so loud. We got four types of pickles, the cornbread and the hot honey chicken sandwich. This was enough for two people and we were stuffed. The portions are giant here. For pickles we had the jalapeños, horseradish pickles, carrots, and greenbeans. I loved the green beans the most. The cornbread was giant! Loved all the cheese and butter it was like bread pudding. The chicken sandwich was also delicious. The fried chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked. Loved the hot honey was great too. For dessert we shared the Valentine's Day strawberry mousse dessert. Wasn't too heavy and was yummy. I had the sangria drink which was flavorful and had nice warm flavors. Service was quick and very friendly. Bathroom was old so not a fan. For the size and flavor food was very fairly priced. read more

Jacob's Pickles is the perfect spot if you're looking for Southern comfort food, classic brunch staples or just looking to put yourself in a fried chicken food coma. *AMBIANCE* Located in a cozy, rustic, setting, this place offers an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. We walked in on a Sunday morning and was seated right away for a party of 2. Seating can be a bit tight here. *FOOD* I ordered the sausage gravy smothered chicken ($19) and it did not disappoint! The chicken was perfectly tender and seasoned, smothered with generous heaps of flavorful gravy, while the biscuits were warm and buttery. It also comes with a side of grits. The home fries ($9) were crisped and seasoned well, spread with some slices of roasted red peppers. *SERVICE* Service was very friendly, and our food came out quickly. Definitely worth a visit....come hungry and carbo load yourself here! Just be prepared for the onset of the food coma :) read more

Jacob's Pickles is reliably good! The portion sizes are massive and you always have leftovers no matter what. I recently came in for the restaurant week lunch and it was an incredible value! A large plate of deviled eggs, breakfast sandwich and dessert for $30. Their sweet tea is also amazing. Service can range from borderline bad to pretty good. I've never been blown away by the service here but it does tend to get very busy at times. When it is busy, the restaurant is pretty loud and chaotic I'm now a vegetarian so I can no longer eat their chicken, and I wish they would offer a bit more vegetarian options outside of the sides . I'd like to see a vegan meat option one day. read more

Food: Excellent . Arrived hot. Filling. Took home a box Service: Dope. Our waitress, Jordan, was amazing, patient and took separate checks!!!! Ambiance: Crowded on a Saturday afternoon, it's to be expected. However, owner should consider widening the entrance, bar area so peeps can have a better place to wait for their party. The bathroom upstairs near the bar, dimly litted, no tissue on the ring, kinda dingy. One of the ladies in my party said the bathroom downstairs had multiple stalls and was clean. We came here today based on prior reviews and word of mouth. Glad we did!!! We'll be back read more

Great place for lunch with friends or a big group! We got the cob salad, house mac and cheese, and elote - all were great but we especially loved the biscuits and fixins! The biscuit was so fluffy and warm and the accompanying fresh jams and butters were great. Surprisingly, our least favorite thing here were the pickles! We got the the dill pickles and they honestly tasted pretty ordinary - might try something different next time. Overall, still a great place for lunch! read more

Oh my gosh. Honestly don't think I'd ever get this experience. Or at least not anytime in the foreseeable future. I am apart of this pickle addicts group on Facebook and someone posted their pickle flight from this place and knew I had to go. So I get the opportunity to go to New York for one day and honestly... this place was kinda out of my way and I don't even care. I really wish I would have had someone to enjoy the pickle flights with. They were HUGE. Honestly, it'd be cool if they offered 2 sized flights. One for a single person and one to share :) I could have had 2 pickles from each jar and been totally content. But on the plus side, I had tons to take home. I tried the rosemary vodka lemonade. Super good! But I realized I shouldn't have had a drink like that with pickles haha. They had this sour cider that was so amazing I wanted to cry. It reminded me of this place in tillamook Oregon that sells sour beers and you basically can ONLY get them there. I dream about those drinks to this day, 11 years later. So to find something that tastes similar to their drinks was just nostalgic and priceless. It was a sour cherry cider. They had 2 more sours on draught but I didn't particularly care for them. Onto the pickles. Their classic dill is their best seller. I ate almost all of those. The green beans were so crunchy and delicious. I loved the pickled beets but they're not crunchy and shouldn't be. The carrots were pickled with something spiced and it reminded me of Christmas. I don't care for sweet pickles so I'm not the one to ask, my opinion is very bias. There were 3 different sweet pickles. Bread and butter chip pickles, a sweet spear, and a horseradish pickle. I wish the horseradish pickle wasn't sweet and was just spicy :( Wasn't really spicy at all. Didn't taste horseradish. And last was the jalapeño. That was phenomenal. I woulda eaten more than one but with the lemonade I shouldn't have gotten, I didn't want to make my stomach hot. My bartender Kaaarrrrrlllll was just top notch. Super friendly. Conversed with me. Asked me about my trip and why I was there. Definitely wasn't a be nice to make a good tip kinda person. Was just genuine and knew how to do his job well. I appreciate the conversation since I was there all alone and hardly talked to anyone all day except when I needed help figuring out where I was going. Can't wait to come back one day with friends and try different pickle drinks and actually eat some protein with the pickles!! read more

The food was amazing and plentiful. The portions were big. The shareable items were delicious. The atmosphere was busy but not loud. There was an upcoming election party being sorted but did not interfere with the dining experience. Danielle, who took care of us was warm, friendly and absolutely lovely. Very friendly staff, delicious food. We got a breakfast platter that was easily big enough for two of us to share. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. I can see why this restaurant recently switched to a larger location. They were very busy and every plate we saw looked amazing. Tea was sour (definitely made in a big batch and sat all night). French fries were cold??? It shouldn't be that hard... Portions were big though! Also, there were two other tables in the glassed-in porch and yet our server barely checked on us. We got our food from a runner and the server didn't check-in until we were entirely finished. What if something was wrong with our food? As an actual southerner I would not recommend. There are so many good restaurants in NYC, this is definitely skippable. read more

Felt it's only fair to post an update after giving the new 94th st location another chance. This time, seating was great, service was attentive and friendly, and the food came out hot and was more like what we were used to experiencing. We had the smothered BBQ chicken, which was tasty, and the chocolate banana french toast. The french toast was great but the bananas seemed somewhat dry/underripe. Their arnold palmer is always good. I'd feel good coming back. read more

Our server was super nice and when I asked him his favorite items on the menu he did us right. We started with the pickle chips which turned out to be our favorite dish of the night. Instead of slices of battered bread and butter pickles, Jacob's uses long spears of their hot and sours, and serves them with a slightly spicy aioli. They were perfection. Our family of two adults and two teens also shared the honey fried chicken sando on a biscuit. As our server had warned, it's enough for two. The chicken was tasty and fried just right. I would have preferred not to have a pool of honey on the plate since it made the biscuit a little soggy. And honestly it would have been nice if the kitchen could have cut the sandwich into halves (or actually quarters for the way we were sharing) so we wouldn't have to do so much fried chicken sando surgery. I didn't have high hopes for the fried chicken and French toast my family wanted, especially after the syrup came on top instead of the side as we requested. No matter. The chicken again was really good and the syrup worked. The French toast was exceptional and made with challah. We were so full we couldn't get dessert. I had actually chosen this location so we could go to Milk Bar or Jacob's biscuit bread pudding. We waddled our way home. Jacob's is now in the exclusive pantheon of restaurants we go to when in New York. In fact, we liked this place so much I suggested returning the following night to try the stuff that sounded good that we didn't get to - in particular, the fried green tomatoes and the deviled eggs. We really won out the evening we ate at Jacob's Pickles. Not only was the food great, we were able to eat indoors RIGHT next to the large open door. Rarely does a restaurant have a table with a set-up like that, and as a family who is only eating outdoors to stay COVID safe we were very appreciative. Especially so since it was BRUTALLY hot outside (the high that day was 98) so eating outdoors would have been miserable, especially after walking several blocks from the subway. The AC ended up dripping on us (we speculated it was condensation) at our table by the front door so we moved to another table a little farther inside. We got dripped on there as well. There was a sign up that they are changing locations. We wondered if this could be why. read more

Same great service and delicious food - plus a new beautiful space! The new location is gorgeous and has much more space. I also appreciate that the patio is dog friend. My go-to is the honey chicken sandwich, which has spicy pickles and is served on a fluffy biscuit and with a side of cheesy grits - yum, yum, yum. However, their mac n'cheese and chicken cesear salad are also fantastic. All of their portions are large so you could easily split one entree and one appetizer. Go and be merry! read more

First off, this review is for the new location 680 Columbus Ave. I made reservations with the expectation we'd have an experience similar to our first at the Amsterdam location, I left a very positive review which is available. It didn't turn out that way. Let me also say we've eaten at the sister restaurant Masion Picle several times, never had any issues. For starters, I personally don't appreciate being seated near the restroom, or kitchen, etc. Due to the weather, when we arrived the restaurant was about a third full. We asked to be moved which wasn't a problem. Service was fine. GF ordered the shrimp and grits which came out before my entree. It was slightly warm, she sent it back. It came back warmer, but not as if freshly cooked. I ordered the Coop Platter, which came out warm also. I asked for my meal to be reheated, it came back slightly warmer as did GF's. WHAT!! I can only surmise that the food is pre-cooked to handle the volume of customers during peak times. This was always the first place I'd recommend for brunch in the city, obviously very disappointed!!! read more

Yup go here! Love this place. Get the pickle flight. Everything was so crispy and delicious. We also got the pickle brined margarita which was absolutely delicious. The portions were really large, which is wonderful. The burger was very decadent and delicious overwhelming with onions. Very very happy. The service was really good. They kept on checking on us. I was excited to try this place out after hearing all the hype so we made Sunday brunch plans. This place fills up so highly recommend getting a reservation. Now while the vibes and the atmosphere are so lively, I hate to say it but the food was just mid and we tried a lot of items. I will say the standouts were the pickle flights and the fried pickles. The rest were just under seasoned and not very favorable. Also as a southern girl transplanted into NYC, my comfort food expectations are high. at first glance, I saw the menu and thought that this was just gonna be another overpriced New York spot - I am now understanding the prices are the way they are due to the serving sizes! we ordered three dishes and all of them match the price tag in size - of course the biscuits and gravy was incredible at the southern style restaurant. three piping hot, soft crumbly biscuits, just soaking in pounds of gravy that had endless chunks of sausage all throughout. despite the mounds of gravy, they maintained their shape and integrity - the egg sandwiches are definitely not the kind of sandwiches you can eat with your hands. they come in a hot skillet and require a fork. or you might end up with half of it on your lap. I was so pleasantly surprised that there were TWOOO big patties of sausage with the sandwich. the eggs were insanely fluffy and just coated in a layer of sharp cheese. gorgeous. - the western omelette was certainly a bold choice because not really a southern option, but it was devoured nonetheless. the onions in it were especially a win! just cooked so well and so flavorful. there was a slight kicked from potatoes that made them stand out. - as for ambience this is their new location. it is absolutely giant and so well lit with so much natural light. there are probably hundreds of seats and the staff are so attentive and the food comes out so quickly! great for groups of all sizes read more

This place had my attention with pickles & biscuits! We enjoyed a quick breakfast here before walking the Brooklyn bridge. We were there at 9am Sunday morning and didn't have to wait. The service and food were fantastic. The shredded cheese in the dish took me by surprise but the server did warn me that it was an open skillet. The biscuit was delicious and the pickles were great! The bathroom was a bit too open for me, I would prefer a door w/no window (it was covered with a film but you could see shapes). I think they are moving locations, so maybe that will change. read more

If a place was ever made for me this would be the one. Not only do I love beer, pickles, and biscuits, I also love chicken. This place has all that with more than worth it servings and southern flavors. As someone from the south, I can't recommend this place enough. Seasonal Apple Pie Biscuit 3.5 of 5 Biscuit iitself is good but doesn't stand out with the apple pie flavor. It absolutely needs the maple butter to complete the dish. Coop Platter 5 of 5 For quality and quantity get this Platter. Each item is delicious even for a regular breakfast. Ask for a side of sausage gravy and strawberry jam with it for the great biscuit. I love Jacob's pickles. Definitely a highlight in the UWS. Been here numerous times and always a hit. My favorite is the honey chicken & pickles but I've tried their meatloaf, Buffalo Mac & Cheese, pickle flights, and more and everything is solid. Definitely try their pickle flight if it's your first time. We also got the jalapeño cornbread for the first time recently and it was really good. Prices are unbeatable too, super unaffordable for huge portion sizes. Service is always good too. Make sure you book a reservation though for the weekends. Definitely recommend this place! read more

I've been to Jacob's pickles many times. It's always an amazing time - be careful on the weekends because of how busy it gets. The pickles are fantastic as an appetizer. The cornbread is delicious and buttery, extra tasty with a little hot sauce. The southern blt is my go to order. It is so delicious, there's so much flavor in every bite. Drinks are also amazing. Jacob's Pickles is a family oriented restaurant we were celebrating a birthday. Our appetizers were the 6 Devil eggs which was creamy & seasoned, the Biscuit N Fixins were 2 nice sized fluffy & buttery, the Boneless chicken bites were savory & the Jumbo everything pretzel & dips was nice and soft freshly baked. We had the Smash Burgers (2 Original & 1 BBQ bacon) made to order of course with fries, sour pickles, from the butcher- Roasted Lemon Chicken with mashed potatoes & carrots was very good. The Drinks Jam Jar, Vodka lemonade & Columbus Cruiser hit the spot. The Mini Pie Trio made the day special. Everything was delicious. Our server Sam was great he was attentive to our every need he was polite & professional. The menu has a variety of meals to select from. Prices are reasonable. The atmosphere was calm and the music was aawesome selection of R&B 80's. I would recommend Jacob's Pickles and I would return again read more

Must try: Maple Chicken & Toast, Deviled Eggs, Jacob's Biscuit Beer and Jam Jar Cocktail! Why: We started with Deviled Eggs, which had a slice of pickle on top - yum! Loved the Maple Chicken & Toast! Huge platter with 3 fat slices of toast and 2 large pieces of buttermilk fried chicken. I washed it down with a refreshing Jacob's Pickles Biscuit Beer. My friend had the Jam Jar Cocktail and it looked so good I had to try as my dessert drink. Loved the strawberry infused gin with lemonade and slices of strawberry. 5 stars for flavor and bringing comfort food to warm the runners' stomachs after a cold misty morning. We had the chicken and French toast, coop platter, special of the day French toast ( n bananas and chocolate chips), and a good cup of coffee. We were seated promptly on our reservation time, vibe is noisy, fun and casual in the neighborhood. A lot of their food is southern food inspired and they have gotten it down to a T! My only downside was that my shrimp and grits came out lukewarm like it has been sitting on the counter waiting to be taken. The consistency of the grits on top and on the side was like jelly. Towards the inside as I was eating the consistency got better. I haven't had grits that had that consistency at all and it took me aback. Good thing the inner part was good! Shrimp was generous and seasoned well, topped with bacon and the flavor of the cheesy grits was on point. Their French toast with banana and chocolate chips was OUT of this world! Amazing and simple dish. I found myself taking some from my friend LOL Chicken and French toast was a simple fare but filled with lots of flavor and the syrup was a deep amber that complemented the toast even if it was sweet already. Came here for a Friday lunch without reservations; three of us were seated right away. The place was packed but we got lucky. Beautiful rustic and modern decor was well lit and pleasing to the eye. Place that one could not only enjoy for any casual meal but would enjoy coming to for a special event (not sure if this place would host private event but it would look great in pictures) Our server was helpful and friendly and made good recommendations. Our food came quickly and we never had to ask for anything other than the bill. Every dish we ordered was so delicious that we could not stop eating it. The salmon on the salmon salad was perfectly cooked (crispy on one side and tender and juicy on the inside). The fried chicken on the honey biscuit was perfectly fried with the chicken breast so moist and juicy). We ordered a flight of pickles veggies and each one was as good as the previous. The grits that were served with the chicken sandwich was very creamy and oh so buttery. For some reason we dipped our French fries in our grits (yes, you read right. We dipped our fries in our grits) and it was surprising yummy. Since the grits were so buttery, it made the fries taste like a baked potato. Everything was better than expected. I was surprised to not love my experience here! We went on a beautiful fall weekend and were seated within 15 minutes, which was great. Our food came quickly but the service itself was slow and we definitely felt like a nuisance to our server. We had to wait quite a while to get her attention for things like water, to-go boxes, etc. It was definitely busy so can't blame her but not an amazing experience. The food itself disappointed me, so sorry to say. The fried pickles were good, but both the skillet jalapeno cornbread and the French toast and chicken tasted pretty bland to me. There weren't many seasonings going on in the meal at all. I think this a great place for a classic, simple southern meal, but it wasn't groundbreaking food. We walked in and the noise was even louder than their other spot on Broadway. Strike one was we had to wait until the host finished her talk on the phone, no acknowledgement. Strike two was we were given menus but told we could not order. Strike three was we were told we couldn't get happy hour menus unless we sat at the bar. There were no seats available let alone a place to put your glass or plate. It seems like the whole place is tiled, with concrete floors, giving no relief to the deafening noise. We so enjoyed the outpost store in DUMBO that we had to try the flagship location. The matzo ball soup was as good as Katz, and I've never seen a pickle flight like this anywhere. Amazing! Portions were huge too! read more

It was a Sunday morning and we came across Jacob's Pickles. We were seated immediately and were served by Raegan. My family felt comfortable in the environment which made me happy and Raegan played a role in that when she was helping me with my selection. I got the veggie omelette with home fries and everyone else got the chicken and French toast. By the way, I'm not sure what hot sauce they have but I loved it. Great fun place for group or a quick bite. Nice casual atmosphere and cool setting. My group ate from breakfast menu everyone's food looked great, nice presentation! I had egg and cheese biscuit. It was tough growing up in the restaurant business. It was tough, having both parents working together in a restaurant. For that reason, I thought I would never actually myself get into the business, a point in my life came when I was looking for my creative outlet, there was no other direction that I wanted to take. The culture of the restaurant business was embedded in me. There's something extremely fulfilling, being part of a community, nourishing people, dealing with your guests who become friends, who become family day in and day out. We really felt that was the culture on the Upper West Side, which is exactly why I came here to launch.

Yes. Although it's overall meat heavy menu, for brunch there is plenty of veggie omelettes, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, all available. Dinner, however would be much more disappointing for a vegetarian as there are very few options.

Instead of addressing it professionally, he walked away without a word, returned holding the bottle and my glass, and said, "this is what you were poured," before carelessly tossing the drink back onto the table. No apology. No explanation. Just attitude. It escalated from there. When I confronted him about his behavior, he denied it outright and then doubled down with an aggressive, confrontational stance, getting in my face and effectively threatening me. His exact words? "If I tossed your drink on the table, it would have been all over you!", and "Man, shut yo ass!" Completely unprofessional and unacceptable in any setting, let alone an establishment that positions itself as upscale. The manager's response was just as disappointing. Instead of addressing the behavior of his staff, he blamed me, asking why I "chased" the waiter and suggesting I should have gone directly to him. That's not how basic customer service works. I tried to resolve the issue directly, respectfully, and without escalation, something his employee clearly had no interest in. I was thinking if I talk to the waiter first, he wouldn't get in trouble with his manager. To make matters worse, the manager continued to defend the waiter rather than de-escalate the situation. At that point, it was clear this wasn't a one-off issue; it's a reflection of how this place operates. I paid my bill and left. For a venue that attracts world-class jazz talent, it's astonishing how low the standard of service is. This place is doing a disservice to the artists who perform there. I will never return, and I would strongly caution anyone expecting a professional, respectful experience to look elsewhere.

I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. Weather you come for the viral moment this feels like a solid staple in the community with bright music playing everyone kind of everywhere and just a relaxed feel that you can't wait to enjoy after you get seated. After running a couple of errands while waiting for the table to be ready, we were seated outside at the patio after an hour and 45 minutes. We ordered the famous honey butter pancakes, the korean wings, and the breakfast sandwich with hash brown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

Smaller than I thought. Now I know why there is always such a long wait.

The mapo tofu, green beans, twice cooked pork, and spicy (lazi) chicken were very flavorful. I thought the mala levels were just right, but it may be on a bit on the lighter side compared to authentic. The lamb spine came in a delicious broth, but it was a bit hard eating the lamb from the bone for not a lot of meat. The house steamed fish was also amazing. They don't take online reservations for groups over 5, so we called to make one for our group of 6. It was pretty busy Friday night, so would recommend. The service was great; they drew the cutest card when they found out it was my brother's birthday and let us bring a cake. And they also offered hair ties to the people with long hair. You order through an iPad which has a beautiful menu.
