I do like their black bean chicken & curry chicken, both dishes have very tender meat; no knife necessary. I do like also their crisp, fresh vegetables. I like that no frozen vegetables (that I have noticed) are in those two dishes. I visit them at lunchtime. At lunch time white rice or fried rice is your choice. Also included is complementary hot tea and a small cup of hot and sour soup. I've been here once for dinner, and had Wor Won soup. That's all I ordered. I really enjoyed the broth and and was more filling than I thought it would be! The Chinese food here is as good as Chinese cuisine gets in Napa. Jade garden is better than it looks. When I arrive to the restaurant, it didn't appear to be in tip top shape, the building is old and dirty from the outside, but the inside is pretty clean. This is a small Chinese restaurant in Napa that is run by a small crew of Chinese natives. The food is authentic, good and affordable. I ordered some of the best sweet and sour egg flower soup. I was a huge fan of the soup, because it had a great flavor and a little kick of heat in it. It was very yummy with onion, egg, vegetables and mushrooms. I also ordered black peppered steak with vegetable which was ok. The steak wasn't the highest quality, but the flavor was there in the vegetables, onions and peppers. The entree was served on a sizzling platter and was very tasty. We ordered chow mein and crab puffs also. The crab puffs were fine and the chow mein was good too. Overall, I have no complaints except for the exterior of the building being a bit out of date and the steak not being of high quality. We tried this place over a year ago when we first moved to Napa and liked it pretty well (takeout). Then the pandemic hit and we got lazy - even though it's only 3-4 miles from our house, we found closer takeout options or opted to just cook at home. Decided to try it again after an orange chicken craving that wasn't quite fulfilled when I got it earlier this week from a closer place. They were so friendly when they took the order by phone, and upon arriving, my order was ready promptly and they were wearing masks (even though there were no other customers; I came late afternoon). The food is very good / on the high side of what I would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. So much of reviewing restaurants is about expectations...I would never expect an amazing, mind-blowing experience from a neighborhood takeout Chinese restaurant - but with those expectations in mind, I would say the food was tasty, fresh, and worth the trip read more

Came here for lunch one day with hubby and the baby and although the exterior and decor need some updating, the food and service was fast, friendly, and tasty. Considering this restaurant is pretty nondescript and many other nearby Asian eateries leave me wondering how they stay in business (and some don't make it), the food will definitely be worth coming back for. I had their curry chicken and my husband had a veggie dish with chicken (sorry, name escapes me now) and the baby enjoyed her BBQ pork buns. The flavor and style of cooking seemed to be Cantonese, but the owner didn't seem to be from there. Having grown up in a mom & pop Chinese restaurant, this totally reminded me of my childhood! Just came in here for the first time about a week ago with my parents. We were in the mood for Chinese food and we had not tried Jade Garden before. We were seated immediately as there was only one couple in the restaurant. Server was very nice, welcoming and attentive, bringing us water and making sure our questions were answered if any. However, we wasn't too impressed with the meal. We ordered the BBQ pork chow mein, vegetable chow fun, won ton soup and vegetable fried rice. The dish that had the most flavor was the chow fun. All in all, service excelled in our experience but the food was lacking the 'wow' factor and flavor. 4 stars for service, 3 for food. read more
