It is hard to explain what an excellent experience I had throughout my explant and mastoplexy with Dr. Chun. To begin, I had an excellent phone consultation with Dr. Chun. If your primary objective is to have an expert perform a total capsulectomy - Dr Chun is your person. All his capsulectomies are posted on Instagram and it's clear that he works diligently to remove all tissue surrounding the implant for the best possible outcome on our health. Surgery went great and kudos to the nurse who helped me get prepped. Her warm and kind nature was comforting and didn't make me feel like I was just another number in the queue. Dr Chun has very clear and precise instructions pre and post op and if you follow them exactly as described you'll get a good predictable experience. The one hiccup I found post-op was a misunderstanding on when to stop using neosporin that caused a reaction on my skin. He leaves it up to the patient to pick neosporin, bacitracin, or aquaphor and if you have no clue what to ask or are aware of potential allergies like me, you could end up using neosporin too long - you could end up with dermatitis that lasts a few weeks. This may not happen to everyone but a one-liner heads up on possible outcomes would've been helpful. But even with that little hiccup, what I appreciated and valued the most is Dr Chun's unique understanding of darker skin tones and what that means for healing and scar therapy. That insight is/was priceless! Lastly, if you're looking for a deal or surgery on a budget -- this ain't it. Like anything else in health care, he operates like a business. But unlike health care covered by insurance you don't have to go thru the years of back-and-forth to prove your illness. Very compassionate, good bedside manner, listens, soothing calming voice, I'm sure a very very good surgeon BUT....I assume periodically when he treats an older lady he thinks there's no need to care about the aesthetic outcome of the surgery ... I was extremely happy to have those toxic bags removed BUT THE MASTOPEXY (lift) I paid an additional $7500 for turned out terribly .... I flew 3500 miles to see him due to his great reputation but unfortunately was extremely disappointed by the visual outcome... He agreed the results were not what he expected and he himself admitted he was disappointed but turned it on me, asking what I wanted him to do to fix it.... I called to make an appointment and was quoted 10k and up.... that is just absurd, especially for women that are sick and need the help. Dr Jae Chun and his entire staff is heaven sent, I don't agree at all with any of the negative reviews and I find those irrational individuals to be narrow minded as this doctor has a lot of compassion and heart towards women who have been troubled with BII. My situation was different to say the least and I've been through 3 total surgeries within the past couple years and it's been rough... what got me through was family and friends support plus my primary care physician and my other favorite Itzel along with my trust in God that all things will get better. Let's get back to Dr Chun though, he's very honest, and that I appreciated most. He gives you as much information on what to expect during and after surgery. Just in case you miss anything, he has pre op, post op videos on his website which is very helpful. As my heart goes out to the many women who are struggling with pain in their breast, my family and I are figuring out how to donate money directly to Dr Chun for part of your surgery as that's how confident I am that he is the BEST. Please do not call his office regarding this as it is a separate assistance that we will find out how to best manage this and figure out the logistics and this will be directly from my family and I. Dr Chun does not give false hope and won't sugar coat what you want to hear and some people cannot handle that but other surgeons will give false hope that they can remove all your capsules but what I've learned is, you'll never know unless they open you up again which is the scary part. I called last year to get a quote for explant only and I was quoted 7k. I called again today and I was quoted 10k and up. And if I want a lift it's an additional 6k and up. I asked why there was such a huge price increase in such a short period of time. The receptionist said it could be due to surgical facility fees going up. Dr. Chun performed my total capsulectomy explant procedure. My results are far better than I expected. The incisions he created are like artwork, perfectly following the curve below my breast. This is important to me because I have very little breast tissue so the incision is totally visible. He was even able to get rid of my old scars as an added bonus. He never tried to sell me on other procedures. He did offer to do a lift but told me I had good skin so I could go either way. I called Dr. Chuns office about a consult for explant but they said because they are trying to book more O.R. time, that leaves less time for in person patient consults. They only offer phone consults after payment and then use pictures you send them to give recommendations. Is this common practice? I am searching for a physician that will take the time to see me in person, to look at me in real time to be able to give me advice on serious surgical procedures. Nearly 14 years ago I was a 15 year old girl, small frame, 5ft 100lbs with breasts larger than 32DDD.
