Twigs is always a favorite when I'm visiting home. While the food is a tad overpriced, the martinis are worth it, especially during happy hour. I dropped in on my way to the airport to enjoy a refreshing lemon drop martini and catch some of the World Cup. The bartender was friendly and attentive during my time there. Three stars - Fine I went here to catch up with a former professor. There is a lot of parking, and it is next to the Spokane Valley Mall. We went right where it opened, and it was very quiet. I was honestly surprised to see how rundown the restaurant was, specifically the seating. There were several booths where the covers were ripped and/or tattered. We arrived in town and it was time to grab some dinner. Tired, and really just wanted some small plate. We walked in and felt a bit unorganized, it wasn't clear if they were understaffed or what. Patrons were kind of standing around, waiting to be acknowledged. When was our turn, there was no warm greeting. We were just bluntly told that we could just go into the bar and see if there was a table because she didn't see one ready. I'm usually pretty understanding if people are short staffed or super busy. But I've had better service at a fast food joint, but I did when I walked in this place. Honestly, if I wasn't so tired at that point-I would've walked out and just gone to the mall and see what other chain restaurant I can eat at. We found a table in the bar area. This time, 4 stars. I like the ambiance, atmosphere and customers. One star down due to the cold temperature inside, the Chocolate Torte was not available; notified a few minutes after I placed the order, and when I selected the Text option for receipt I did not receive the text. I waiting for my polite server to return and I ask for paper and she returned promptly. It is always very polite and helpful service when I go. Not too much or little. Although this visit, my water glass remained empty before my meal was finished. I did appreciate the additional thank you to me, upon my exit from someone near the front door. The Pork Ribeye with pineapple salsa was good for the most part. Although it seemed a bit too pink and undercooked at one end, so I did not take the last couple bites. I did like the seasoning and the pineapple salsa added a nice mix and balance to the bites. The asparagus was crisp still and the whole group of "seasonal vegetables" was good. If only my stomach could hold more... :-) I like that the bar and lounge is separated by windows, creating a sound barrier but not a vision barrier. You can see the TVs if you wanted, from some spots in the restaurant. Nice and classier place to go; in accordance, expect that to reflect in the bill. Went on a Sunday evening at 8:05pm. Listed hours of operation state open until 9pm. Sat in the bar. We were immediately told last call at 8:15pm without being greeted. The bartender was rude and clearly had no intention of helping us out. Told us that it was "up to us" if we wanted to order. We left the bar and moved to the dining room. The hostess was great. As was our server on the main dining side. The food was quick and delicious. However, the kitchen started blasting music at 8:30. Again, I thought the restaurant didn't close until 9pm. It was painfully obvious they were trying to remove the remaining guests prior to the 9pm closing. If a restaurant, or any service provider, states operating hours until 9pm, I'd expect business as usual until closing. Guests should not be made to feel uncomfortable or an inconvenience coming at 8:05pm. read more

Grossly overpriced dishes and wine. My particular dish was horrible... Risotto with scallops ... the risotto was awful.. literally super thick cheese sauce with rice... I did not find it edible at all. Sautéed vegetables were overly garlic tasting with overcooked squash and zucchini .. I will not be eating there again. It has been years since we have eaten here as we moved out of state for a while. We recently relocated back and my parents took me for lunch. We arrived on a Saturday around noon and it was extremely busy. We ended up sitting in the bar as that was the only tables that were open. After we were seated it was only a couple of minutes until our waitress came over and gave us our menus, asked for our drinks and left. A couple of minutes later someone came and brought our drinks and then we didn't hear from anybody for about 30 minutes. No one came over to check on us, no one filled up our drinks, no one asked to provide a refill. No one gave us an update on our food. There was no communication from anybody at all. When our food arrived it looked great. I ordered the fajita salad and it was delicious. The chicken was juicy, well-seasoned and the dressing on the salad was great. My family's food looked good as well, however, my dad's mahi-mahi tacos were dry. I feel like this experience was very similar to the one I had in 2016. When I am in Spokane, this is my go-to restaurant since 1) they have an entire gluten-free menu and 2) their food is so good! (Note they also have a vegan menu) Their regular menu has a great variety of things to order from so their is literally something for everyone. I really appreciate how their specialty menus (GF and vegan) have so many different types of food rather than the basic, safe go-to options. It makes it a real treat to eat there since it feels like I can eat normally again! My favorites are their GF pizza and GF flatbread. The service is typically very good with them being there when needed and them checking on us regularly. I love the ambiance. Very "with the times" but not "trendy." It is really nice and great for a date or a night/lunch out with friends. The bathrooms are always in great shape which I find a reflection of the restaurant overall and what is happening behind the scenes that we can't see. Be sure to try it out - you'll want to go back again for the experience and to try another great item on the menu...or perhaps you will love what you ordered sooooo much, you'll be craving it and want to have it again. I've been here half a dozen times (I like to give a place a chance) and every time i take a seat in the bar area I'm either ignored few 20 minutes or they say hi and don't return. This is when the place is at 20 percent capacity! The place has nice esthetics so I want to like it but I've ended up walking out as many times as I've eaten there. I'm done trying. I give this place 3 stars although I don't really like it. Many others seem to like it. It has that "chain food" taste, like there are some preservatives in the food. Saturday eve and the joint was jumpin'. We met family there for a drink and meal. I'm only covering my visit there as the fam can do their own reviews. Had a dirty martini that wasn't dirty! Crystal clear vodka. It was good, very smooth vodka, but no flavor. I'd rate it a 3. I ordered the osso buco, which I've had on my prior visits to other Twigs locations. It looked like a large dark brown lump on a plate. Presentation does count sometimes. The pork itself was good, but the demi-glace was too thick and overpowered the pork, garlic mash, and random mushrooms ect. I never did really identify or taste the mashed potatoes. Compared with my prior experiences I'd rate it a 2. Our server was a lovely young lady that did a superb job on our table of 7. Sadly, in my opinion, I'd opt for the Twigs on Regal or the one at Columbia Center in Kennewick. read more

Perfect Spot for a Business Lunch!!! I had the pleasure of visiting Twigs while in the Spokane Valley area for business. Twigs just happened to be on my list of Foodie destinations to try. I was very fortunate that my customer who I was taking out for lunch, recommended that we go to Twigs. Twigs has a few more restaurants in the Spokane area and is a small chain of upscale casual restaurants. One of the key elements that lead me to Twigs was that most of the locations had very positive reviews on my big 3: Google, Tripadvisor and Yelp. I did notice that most of the negative reviews were based on bad experiences with service or simply, someone got their feelings hurt. Being a recognized Foodie and Food Blogger, I always look for the info on the food, and most of the food reviews for this chain were four and five stars so Twigs was a no brainer. When our trio arrived at Twigs Spokane Valley location, we were greeted warmly and seated at a very nice table in a good location to see the decor of the space. Twigs is very nicely decorated with a tasteful design. We were there for lunch and it was busy, but our server took very good care of us and helped me with recommendations as I told her it was my first time there. The first recommendation was the tasty and delightful Kalua Pork Tacos with Kalua pork, House-made slaw, Creole remoulade, cilantro served on flour tortillas. This was my first experience with the Hawaiian-style Kalua Pork and twigs pulled it off with a great tasting starter. Next up was the main course, for this course, I tried the Tuna Tataki salad, made with slices of Smoked pepper-seared yellowfin, fresh romaine lettuce, shredded cabbage, cucumber, pear, ginger, bell pepper and a light a refreshing ponzu vinaigrette. This was a great dish for a lunch meal as it was not that heavy and yet still filling and not a huge portion. The tuna was fresh and the salad itself not overdressed. We all had a round of Reed's All Natural Ginger Beer which was a perfect match to a Tuna Tataki. What can I say, lunch was a hit and everyone was very pleased with the food and service. Once I handed what she was giving right back to her , she sure became more professional.. YUCK And the dude who has a full on beard, a bit short , and unhealthy... he doesn't check ID. What an excellent experience! I have been celiac for years now and this was one of the best gluten free friendly restaurants I have been to. I ordered the Kraken burger and it was amazing. They have a gluten free menu and were very knowledgeable. Our waiter, Sean, was very friendly and as it was our first time here gave excellent guidance on what to order. We tried the one in Vancouver, WA and had a dismal experience. So the wife and I thought we would give it a try one more time in Spokane Valley WA. I will have to say they are consistent with lack luster food! U my n-seasoned, bland and a greasy mess. Their Ajus had a nasty cap of fat floating on top and the bowl looked like a dirty ash tray. Maybe try straining your product before serving it. There also no flavor in the Ajus, just blandness. The sandwich lacked flavor and had no love put into a $24. The fries served with my sandwich were tough and chewy as if they sat in a bowl in the window under a heat lamp for 20-30 minutes. In conclusion Twigs bistro is yet another let down You would be better off eating at Red Robin. Twigs! You may of at some point made good food but you lost it somewhere! read more

So sad. This used to be our go to date spot, but yesterday was so bad I will never go back. We got the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer. They were delicious, but the egg was undercooked. Cardinal sin. Snotty whites. It was over 30 min between appetizer and entree. Granted, it was a Friday night, but our server didn't check on us once in that time. I love their calamari... Usually. It was cold, but still edible. I ended up sending my Cesar salad back because it was so awful. Hardly dressed, a dusting of pecans (I'm being generous with that description), and no parmesan.
