First off, the property, the building, what we could see of the grounds is beautiful. It's still snow covered and cold, but I bet this place is lovely in the summertime. Through the front entrance into the grand foyer, there are no signs, no host, or any indication of where to go, so we looked in different doorways, found a bathroom, a lounge, a long hallway; eventually a gentleman spotted us wandering and asked if we were here for brunch. When we entered the dining room, the friendly server came by and told us to sit anywhere, pointed out the coffee and juice and food in the next room. She was a doll. There were 2 guys eating in the dining room, and by the time we left, only one more table of ladies came in, not busy at all. It was quite inexpensive for what they offered (2 adults $40) you could add mimosas or something else from the bar, if you wanted a beverage other than juice, water, coffee, or tea. The food was just ok, there were plenty of lunch and breakfast choices, the mac and cheese was good, their take on Italian Wedding soup was good, but it was mostly just ok. Some things were obviously sitting a while, e.g. the Minestrone was the consistency of chili, but hubs tried it and said it was good. Parking, unfortunately, is far from the entrance, and the long walk to the door very icy, unsalted and dangerous. Maybe we try again in better weather, we'll see.

I chose the kapusta (sauerkraut) pierogi, which was grilled and served atop a bunch of onions. The stand at the market also had Polish hot dogs for sale. The pierogi itself was huge, but the end product was a bit too doughy. The grill definitely crispen it up -- and it was more or less a doughy ball with onions on top and sauerkraut inside. The fillings themselves were tasty, but the outside dough left a little to be desired. I'd definitely try them again and I'd be curious to see if I could prepare them myself -- maybe the grilled product just wouldn't be the same as if I bought it myself.

As of 06.28.20, COVID-19 restrictions were not posted on the property's website or in the email confirmation I received. Complimentary continental breakfasts were still listed but not offered. No mention of restricted housekeeping procedures was mentioned. Reservations are required to use the pool but the front desk fails to answer the phone despite multiple attempts. While these restrictions may seem apparent to management, not every guest is from New York, engaged in the hospitality industry, or facing the same restrictions elsewhere. The room we were assigned apparently had not been occupied in weeks, perhaps months. Dead leaves & cobwebs were around the entry door. The room had a musty smell upon entering. Cobwebs were in the corners at the ceiling. Patio furniture had not been cleaned. The indoor/outdoor pool had not been vacuumed for some . According to my wife, the decor is due for an update but I didn't mind it. The TV is small & there is no microwave, both contrary to today's amenities at most properties. The charging stations for mobile devices is in the base of the nightstand lamps but are of little use when plugged into an outlet controlled by the room's wall switch. Fortunately, my phone which I use for my wake-up alarm did not completely drain of power overnight. Positive points are 1st floor king rooms have a private exterior entry only feet from the parking lot. Rear French doors lead to a small patio adjacent to a large common green space which could be an advantage if you have rambunctious children or a pet accompanying you (provided you clean up after it). The location is adjacent to the slopes & a short drive from the center of town. To say it is within walking distance of downtown probably exceeds most people's expectations. In winter & desperate to ski with more convenient lodgings unavailable, this would not be a terrible choice. In summer, I would consider booking elsewhere. Jenn was responsive, warm, considerate, and appeared excited to share in the moment. Unfortunately my twins got pretty sick right before the photo shoot and we had to cancel last minute. Jenn was compassionate and understanding about the cancellation and was more than generous with our prior payment. (I'm sure our random Monday in December appointment also helped.) I'm disappointed that we could not give her our business, but if I ever need a photographer in the area again, I will be sure to book her.

Or, if it was the groom's cousin's girlfriend's sister who agreed to take pictures for free? Have you ever looked at someone's wedding photos and thought-- "Man, they're going to regret that choice!"? Well, maybe I am a jerk, but I have had all of these thoughts before and I knew that I did not want any of the above for our wedding. Instead, I wanted to invest in photographers who were experienced, professional, creative and utilizing top notch equipment. Enter Ayres Photogrphy. I'm not sure how I came across their work, but once I found their blog, I knew that I wanted them to shoot our wedding. With each blog post, I saw a story. Their pictures allowed me to understand the story of the couple, their love, and their wedding day. I immediately contacted Jenn and Ben Ayres to set up an appointment. After being welcomed into their home, seeing more of their work, and talking to this warm husband and wife team, I felt no reason to contact any other photographers. Their creative photo-journalistic style was exactly what we were looking for... and, as an added bonus, they really could not have been any nicer! After making the decision to work with them, we scheduled engagement photos. While older generations might not understand the need for this (I can still hear my mom questioning the necessity), I cannot recommend doing an engagement session enough. Most importantly, our photos came out beautifully and really capture a special time in our lives. Beyond that, the engagement session helped us get to know Jenn and Ben better and also allow us to become more comfortable in front of the camera which was quite valuable for our wedding day! They were patient, fun and open to any ideas that we wanted to try out. After being so pleased with the engagement shots, we couldn't wait to see what our wedding photos might be like. However, little did we know that we would be getting married in the midst of the November Storm! Because Jenn and Ben live in one of the areas that got hit the hardest (oh and did I mention she was 8 months pregnant?!!), they had every reason to bail on our wedding. Yet, they amazingly dug themselves out, broke travel bans, and drove many hours to get to us in time! When Jenn promised that they'd be there NO MATTER WHAT when we signed the contract, she truly meant it... and words can't express what that meant to us. Even after crazy weather and several hours of travel, they still managed to capture our day from beginning to end perfectly. We have the most beautifully composed, skillfully captured, detailed, funny, touching, personal photos from our day. Jenn and Ben went above and beyond for us and it made every penny spent on them absolutely worth it. 5 stars and beyond!
