The highlight of the meal was the curry chips: potato wedges lightly fried with masala and curry leaves. The dipping sauce that came with the chips reminded me of tikka masala sauce, and paired beautifully with the chips. Dessert was toffee pudding: the caramel sauce that came with the pudding was delectable - the pudding itself was excellent and not overly sweet. We tried a variety of NA beers, and I was pleased with how many options they had. Service was quick, and we were well looked after. The ambiance is warm, with dim-ish lighting and a lot of dark wood. The restrooms were gorgeous - special shoutout to the lovely floral wallpaper. Overall, I highly recommend Pleasant House - the vibe is chill and understated and the food is stellar.

The steak and ale pie was better than the chicken pie as a standalone, but needed a bit more gravy I think to elevate it. Sticky toffee pudding again was delicious. Surprisingly light, not overly dense so I was glad it came with the custard which was very flavorful. Overall, will definitely return!

The decor is straight from the 60s or 70s. The menu has something for everyone from ribs to prime rib to burgers. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food was good. Our only one issue is the waiter told us the lamb chop special was gone so my husband ordered the pork chops but what was served were lamb chops. He ate them so we didn't say anything to the waiter but it was strange because the bill listed lamb chops not pork chops. Maybe they weren't gone after all? Over all I'll be keeping Miller's Pub in mind when we need somewhere to go for dinner or lunch and don't necessarily want fast food or the latest hot restaurant.

One other cool thing is that there's a speakeasy downstairs. I went down and found the bookcase which is the door, but it didn't open until the evening. RACIST!! The blonde girl that worked there 8/28/29/21, honestly Terrible. Had no respect for patrons and the bouncer would not stick up for us? We went in a huge group and everyone we were in with a problem with her? No idea how she can somehow convince the bouncers to do whatever she wanted at that instant? She was wearing a red/pink dress with flowers and was rude to everyone who who walked in. So do not recommend going here you're if not friends with the security guard/ or whoever the blonde girl was that was running the place? Honestly pathetic how other girls were allowed to spend ample amount of time there before a Hispanic girl walked in and there was suddenly a time limit? A racist bar that has no boundaries. Don't even blame the bouncer, it was the blond girl who was working there Fire her and maybe the 17 people we were there with will reconsider going with. The worst version of a dive bar. Popped in early evening a few weeks back to meet a pal. Place was pretty empty, but hey, quiet - good for catching up, right? We order beers pretty quick . . . then they take nearly fifteen minutes to arrive as the staff prioritizes texting, instagramming, and disappearing outside. Whatever, dives are dives, right? Quirky. We just leave some cash, decide to go somehow else. Then a manager (the owner?) happens to pass by, asks us how things were, and we decide to be polite but tell him, essentially, service could be better. He get's *super* weird and starts ranting about how drinks take time (we ordered two draft beers; I used to bartend, they take seconds to pour), and "good luck finding a better spot in the neighborhood." We walked about half a block, and were presented by literally dozens of better spots. I encourage you to make the same decision. read more

After checking online whether the place was dog friendly we walked in and were yelled at to "get the fuck out." We kept the dog outside to ask about the general policy, and when we did the owner asked us if we would like "meat on a stick" (an implication that his bigger dogs would cause serious damage to my smaller dog). This is something that should be reported to the police, but I don't want to put a person through that kind of stress, despite how much a piece of shit they are. After coming around with my dog every week, I will never return again. read more

This place went from a great neighborhood bar to a dank hole in the wall....and not in a good way. They fired most of their good seasoned bartenders to hire younger hipsters to bring in a new crowd. This was one of those places that you could frequent and know everyone by name and always have a great conversation and now at become a hipster haven where the owner hits on every girl that walks into the bar. The direction the management has brought this bar is disappointing especially for a bar that's been around as long as Jakes has. read more

A nice, chill, cheap bar where I can bring my freaking dog? Um, you bet your behind I'm here often. My dog sits at home and rips stuff up + sh*ts all over the place if I'm not home. So its a welcome thing knowing I can bring it here to ease some its separation anxiety with a couple cold brewskies (thats a joke -- we don't feed Stacks anything alcoholic, trust me.. he'd probably leave a puddle every 2 feet!). Anyway their happy hour prices are king and they have 1554 (my favorite beverage). Can't go wrong here folks. read more

This bar is sweet, although i like to go on not so busy nights so the pool table is open ($1.25). On the busy nights it can get pretty loud and crowded with a mix of people. The bartenders are all great people and friendly. It's cash only so hit up the ATM before you go, because the service fee is $3 in the bar ATM. Try there chili-bomb shot, i think its vodka with fermented peppers in it, a different taste read more
