My in-laws bought a home in this retirement community, and were treating us to dinner so they took us to Jake's spoon. The atmosphere and appearance led me to be excited until we experienced their customer service and food which were extremely lacking. First off, our table included four adults and three children and we had asked for the kids food to be brought out as soon as available: cheese pizza and a hamburger. They proceeded to bring out the appetizers and wait until the entrée dishes to bring out the kids food even after having to ask for it repeatedly. Then we got the food and we're even more disappointed. The cheese pizza was completely burnt on the bottom and our waitress said "that's just how we cook it but everybody likes it". Unfortunately none of our children or myself could come to eat it because it was so badly burnt. As for myself I ordered the fish and chips. I asked a gentleman host if I could get a little malt vinegar and he proceeded to tell me "that's something you should ask your server for" and walked away. I was so shocked that he wouldn't even offer to find our server who had not been to the table in 5 to 10 minutes. I eventually had to go ask the kitchen staff in the back kitchen for some malt vinegar for my fish and chips. Unfortunately it did not help as the fish did not taste right. Tasted like it was a few days old! Overall this restaurant was extremely disappointing and completely overpriced for the quality of its food and service. As more and more people buy homes in this community they better start stepping it up because people that come and visit will refuse to eat here if it continues like this. read more

Found this beautiful place on the way from Vegas. We came an hour before closing and they never rushed us out even offered dessert well after their closing time. My friend and I both ordered small plates and shared. We were so full! The food was absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. After hearing so much about this restaurant we decided to go there drinks and dinner for a birthday celebration. Reservations were made two weeks in advance, and when we arrived, we were seated in the bar not the dining room, which was disappointing. Service was slow, and we only received half of our order. When this was brought to the attention of the server, she left the food on the table, and we had to wait another 10-15 minutes for the remainder of the order to be brought to the table, which didn't include the salad which was also ordered. When everything finally was on our table as ordered, we had salads that should had been consumed prior to the entree presentation, and two meat entrees which were now cold. Server never returned to the table. The meal and restaurant was a huge disappointment. Especially for a birthday dinner! We won't be going back. read more

My group didn't care for the loud bartender but the locals seemed to like it. I'd sit outside next time to be able to enjoy my meal. Refills on drinks had to be requested. Sandwiches were dry but okay overall. There were probably 6 employees behind the bar over the course of an hour (including the manager) but we were never checked on once food was delivered. I love wedge salads. Ordered a wedge salad (carry out) from Jake's Spoon and curiously there was no plate/bowel. Just salad in a box. Some of it was a tiny bit soggy and inedible. Really enjoy this restaurant but from now on, will pass on the questionable to-go salads. read more

Went to #jakesspoon for dinner (Disapponted at best) and was treated so poorly ( judged before we were even seated) I want everyone to know , when i yelp them it will matter!!! So we enter the restaraunt and stand in line, kids are doing a great job being still, sun is setting, people in front of us get seated immediately, never did the hostess ask if they had a reservation, lead them in, took them 5 min to get back to us, then asked if we had a reservation, states the only place to seat us is outside, deliberately lead us to the very end of the patio, near the green as far away from everyone and everything to a dirty table! yes!!! a dirty table!!! i was appalled! what did they think we were? I stated you didnt even clean the table? we are leaving you didnt clean the table, (the kids will be too cold once the sun sets). So rude, one of the serves says oh there they go stomping out , i turned and said no your hostess tried to seat us at a dirty table. when i spoke to the manager she said Oh! wtf oh? I said! are you kidding me, I wonder what the owner will say when he watches the footage and sees what im going to say on the review? SO DO NOT GO TO #JAKESSPOON they seem to think they can tell a persons character and finances from sight. REALITY is they are rude not snobby, they seem to lack character and are no more organized than the local #Dennys. read more

Tried this place last week for the first time. There were only a few tables seated. Service was slow to get our drink order and continued to be slow with refills of water. We ordered the $45 ribeye, medium, and when it got to the table it was rare! Had to go find the server to have it sent back. About 15 minutes later the steak returned well done. The steak along with the Brussels Sprouts had no flavor and the mushrooms were just salty. Ended up getting sick that night and into the next day. Wouldn't recommend this place. All the staff said was "sorry" There better options in town and even worth the drive to Phoenix or Prescott. read more

Today was my second time at Jakes. First time there were some mishaps and the manager, Rob, generously offered for us to come back and give them another try. As other reviews mention the scenery is beautiful. The restaurant ambiance is pleasant and has an open feel. The bartender made a mean martini with lots of olives and onions. The craft beer was cold and good. Burgers are excellent as are the fries. Our waiter, Micah was excellent. They did a good job and because of this we will make the drive and come back again. The views of the golf course are great. But they don't make up for the terrible food and mediocre service. As a 2 year resident of Wickenburg Ranch we have been to this establishment for lunch and dinner many times. We have complained to the waite staff many times about the food and/or service. We've been told many times by the management that "we are going to have a meeting to discuss the complaints and make the necessary changes". Still waiting to see those changes. In the interim we will limit our meals there. If the food and service doesn't improve we will quit going there. read more

On Mother's Day they had lots of empty booths and tables. They sweared 4 of us outside in the sun. They did not tell us it was only a buffet until after we ordered drinks. Then informed us it was $45.00 each. I noticed the buffet when going though the empty dining room, but just believed that was an option for Mother's Day. Not so.... Buffet or nothing. I didn't see anything on the buffet worth half of their asking price. I believe if you aren't a resident of Wickenburg Ranch you are treated as an outsider. Well there are several great places to eat in Wickenburg and we can even drive to Surprise or Congress to have a nice dinner. Thank god for Jake's Spoon. We were in the area for a family reunion and it seemed like our only other options for food were all very unhealthy. Jake's spoon had such a great menu. Lots of options for vegetarians and gluten free people. And the meat eaters were happy too. They also had a great wine selection. Worst food I have ever had. Four of us went, the pizza was soggy and completely soaked in oil, when complained to the waiter he ignored us. The Beef Stroganoff tasted like canned roast beef, didn't seem to have sour cream in it and was topped with some kind of white cheese. Nothing was good, edible but not good. read more

Found this restaurant by Yelp, and again ratings do not lie. This gem is located in Wickenburg Ranch and such has a great view out the window. They have a inviting patio as well for seating, but was too hot to contemplate in the middle of July. We had a giant Cobb salad and pork with green chili. It's were delicious and both dishes were GF. I am only writing this review in hopes of a change. We frequent this place often so we know Valentine dinner was not ruined because of the busy eve, but because it is the norm. We love going to Jakes for the atmosphere. Food is generally good, however the servers TRAINING truly leaves a lot to be desired. Although we did receive bread soon after we set down it was 17 minutes before server acknowledged us. We frequent often enough that three people stop to talk to us two of which were servers. None ask if they could get us anything just indicating it was not their table. We did find our server when she came had walked by us numerous times and not even looked at us. Last night it was at least 20 minutes before we got a cocktail. There have been occasions when we have gone out to Jake's after lunch frustration of 15 or more minutes I have gotten up and gone to the bar to get my own drink. I understand people are busy but not even to acknowledge you is on acceptable to me. As much as I like Jake's and I do encourage people to go there I am on the verge of taking my business elsewhere. My hope here is that the restaurant reviews my post and makes an effort to train staff for better service. Incidentally I have now decided that my tipping will be directly tied to the time it takes for me to be at acknowledged. In the past I've always given a minimum of 20% however now I'm going to drop 1% each minute I have to wait to be at knowledged. If that doesn't work then I guess it's goodbye to Jake's read more

Went to Jakes Spoon last year and food and service was great, BUT last night 2/19/19, got there at 6:15 for our 6:30 reservation, and it went from bad to worse to worst! First they continued to seat people in front of us who had no reservation. Then when we were seated at 6:30, got our drinks, then sat there until 8:35pm, over 2 hours and still NO sign of our dinner. We finally got up and left at 8:35pm. Great waitress, not her fault, and she apologized several times, but never did get our meal served. Said there were just 3 cooks in the back. Question: if you knew you were short handed, why were you seating people with no reservations? Giving it 2 stars only because the food was great last year. A truly disappointing night, as I was so looking forward to a filet'. They should have done the right thing and offered to comp our next meal reservation. Sadly we ended up at Denny's as everything else was closed. Not great food, but we were hungry and were served within 15 minutes of sitting down! read more
