    Cool decor galore!

Delicious Enchiladas Locos (chicken with green sauce, cheese with white sauce and beef with red sauce) and my husband loves their huevos (egg) dishes! Bomb fresh chips and salsa, and their micheladas (with Modelo Especiale) are delicious and giant!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience is fabulous with the high ceilings and all the wood furnishing with just the right amount of Mexican flair in this beautiful old building[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the service is always impeccable - speedy, attentive without being helicopter-ish, and kind!! GO!: excellent experience (plus plentiful parking, too)! 5-stars

The margaritas were so good. I had a specialty dish with chicken and shrimp. My husband had the enchilada and chili rellano dish. Both were delicious and too big to eat in one seating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is cute and I think this might have been a steak place because the cow in the air on the pole is wearing a sombrero.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't miss him

Ok enchilada, decent tamale, rice& beans

Great service, great drinks, and yummy, authentic Mexican food. We're originally from AZ and are usually skeptical about Mexican restaurant reviews in this region, but this place has some legit options. The salsa was very mild. I would recommend offering a spicier option to those who like spice. I was craving a tamale, so I got a combo meal with rice & beans. The tamale was good, the enchilada was okay, but if we're ever back in Hot Springs, I'll be getting what my husband got (the Jalapenos Fajitas - steak, chicken & chorizo fajitas). Soooo spicy & flavorful. We also each got a frozen margarita - mango and lime, which were yummy. Sorry - I always forget to take pix before I eat & drink half of it. :) Great choice if you're craving good Mexican food.

Chadron. Been to Nebraska before. Not to this Nebraska. Big city. Not small town. Small enough that…read moreif you're driving and blink, you'll blow right through. Anyway, on last summer's road trip or quest to visit all 50 US States, made a stop here for the evening to break up the drive. This was the only restaurant that my friend and could decided was worth trying. Not that the places are bad - we just didn't want bar/fast food. And it was fine. Everything was fine. Parking was easy. Main street. There was so many spaces because most everything was closed. Except the restaurants and theater. Place was busy. Not so busy there was a wait but enough that it was a little on the loud side. Service was standard - I wouldn't say it wasn't friendly or attentive - everything was handled smooth and quickly. Just not a lot of chit chat and didn't really need much as far as refills or condiments go. Food was ok too. Huge portions. See pics. Friend and I split the shrimp fajitas and I devoured the chips and salsa. I did have to ask for a hotter version as the "house" salsa is perfect for those who can't handle the heat. Also wanted to mention, the frozen margarita was nice and boozy. Not overly - but enough that you could taste the tequila and it lingers for a little while. As for the main dish, good. Standard - and this is coming from someone who lives in SoCal. Don't know if I would ever be back in Chadron but if you're on the road and in need of some decent Mexican in NE - it's not bad. Not bad at all.

Stumbled on to this gem of Custer nearly two years ago when moving from Michigan to Arizona. I…read morewanted to see the Black Hills and do all the things so I included Custer on my itinerary. Absolutely loved Skogen! We are on a road trip back to Michigan with a weekend stop in Deadwood and decided to add a stop in Custer this time around as well and, gratefully and thankfully, we were able to secure a reservation. Again, Skogen was AMAZING! We sat in the outside patio area which was cozy and comfortable. Because I have acclimated to 115 degrees in Arizona summers, the 79 degree temperature was a bit chilly so I grabbed a super warm blanket that was supplied and they offered to turn on the heaters. I know it sounds ridiculous to most people who travel to South Dakota. Honestly, Arizona ruins you for everywhere hahahhah. Anyway, I thought it was super kind for them to make me comfortable! It was greatly appreciated! Service: Our server, Curtis, was fantastic! He catered to our every whim! He was personable and friendly and we had a very nice conversation. He helped me decide the best entree between two of my choices and it sure didn't disappoint! Excellent service! Food: The hubby and I shared the lobster steam buns were phenomenal. I mean, if you're reading this and you're going to Skogen, don't hesitate. Just order them. I wasn't a fan of Hollandaise prior to trying theirs, so I asked for it on the side. I literally could have licked the Hollandaise sauce. It was light, airy and absolutely scrumptious! The lobster was delicious and delicate and perfect! We both said we could have eaten the entire four buns by ourselves--and not shared! They were incredible! I had the halibut with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. It was absolutely delicious! The hubby had the duck confit. The white bean preparation with the smoked bacon was amazing but the duck---what magic have you created? It was tender with crispy skin and so moist! Dessert was shared and consisted of the chocolate cheesecake with pistachio ice cream. Unbelievable! So delicious! We had the honor of meeting the owner, Joseph, and shared a wonderful conversation with him. We loved his passion and enthusiasm for his craft, his love of people and we never felt like he was rushing to get back to doing what he needed to do. We truly felt like we were guests at his own home dinner table, sharing stories. It was really a lovely experience from start to finish. We just loved Skogen and look forward to coming back any and every time we manage to swing back into this wonderful town. We have really fallen in love with Custer!
