I'm leaving a review on Jam City Pizza's Hamden Brick & Mortar page, but I actually visited on Day 1 of their season-long residency at GastroPark Food Truck Park in West Hartford. Thursday through Sundays, but confirm the schedule before you go. Technically, Jam City's space at GastroPark is a tent rather than a truck. They have a wood burning stove in the tent area, and they're making Detroit Style Pizzas in the oven. If you don't know, that's a rectangular thicker pizza cooked in a pan, and it has a crispy cheese side. They also have a salad and cannoli's at GastroPark. If it's the same cannoli they serve in other parts of their business, it's amazing by the way. This was my first time enjoying Jam City, although Chef Tyler Demora also owns the Feelin Saucy Pasta Truck, which I love. Chef Tyler is a classically trained chef, but he's decided to take his talents to the food trucks and the Hamden brick and mortar, and that is definitely our gain. The GastroPark menu is an abbreviated version of the Hamden menu. So they did not have the Parliament Funghidelic I was hoping to order. I went with the Tim Timebomb, which is their version of a Margherita. They use the same delicious Sunday Sauce they use on the Feelin Saucy Truck. They spread it in two long rows the length of the pizza. I really like this, because the sauce isn't spread too thin and you can really taste it. They also zig zag pesto diagonally from corner to corner. Then they rain a storm of Romano over the top. The crust was perfect for Detroit. The sauces were awesome. The Romano was very good. The melting cheese used on the pizza has a different vibe. It seems like it may be a proprietary blend of cheeses. It's sharper than I'm used to for pizza. That's not good or bad, but I need another time or two to get used to it. Service was great. I love the GastroPark atmosphere. I can't wait to try more pizzas. 4.5 Stars

This place is pretty cool and the pizza is really very good. I tried the Stratocaster and the Mcmars. The Stratocaster was a nice amount of heat from the little pepperoni cups holding their own oil and the sweetness of the hot honey was spot on. Now the Mcmars was excellent, it was better than a cheeseburger. The thinly shaved red onions and lettuce with the confit tomatoes that give a sweetness to the to the pickles and the sauce. If you like cheeseburgers then this is next level and should be tried.

Wow... all I say is never ever judge a book by its cover! Talk about a place that it's un presuming! Finding this jam city Pizza was a little bit of a chore, as their sign is really small affixed on the building but the building is easy to find being that stand smack center of this strip mall. You walked down a flight of stairs, so not really friendly to people with physical disabilities, so do bring some friends who can order your food and bring it to you because of this place is that much worth it! First off you see the place and you can tell that it's a big entertainment spot at night time. We came mid Saturday day and we were one of four different people to be waited on. Traffic is pretty consistent in this place so that's at the tone and excitement for us. We ordered one basic pizza, and we tried their wings. The gentleman behind the counter was an absolute dial, very accommodating, very patient, and really enjoys what he does and likes to share that passion with everyone... We love seeing that. Now let's get onto the business, the Pizza. First and foremost, the crust is decadent-nice crispy buttery crust that is so full of flavor, but yet light. The toppings are generous, but seem to hold well altogether. The drizzled pesto a fantastic edition to this pizza style. The wings were not wet like we like, typically, but they were so flavorful and yet so moist, we would order the same wings over again. So look forward to coming back and trying other eye catchers from this menu. Give this place a chance trust me you will be happy... Can't wait to go back.

I went on a food adventure with my bf and let's say it did not disappoint. After seeing @Jimmyofficial Instagram post today within hours we appeared at Jam city pizza. I heard that the bartender was amazing and she was. Sophie is effortlessly funny. I loved seeing her engage with customers as she went to and from the kitchen. She definitely has a way of making you smile. She's very personable. We had the Calabria chicken with hot honey wings. They were so flavorful. Cooked to perfection They weren't overly huge. They were small and melt in your mouth delicious. The sauce drizzled on top tasted as if it was honey mustard which complimented the wings SO well!. We chose to order the Tim Timebomb as a classic and the Secks supreme. We loved the classic over the secks. The basil puree is amazing! We had left overs that warmed up perfectly in the toaster oven. We didn't have enough room for dessert but we will be back to try the desserts. Thank you Jam city! The restaurant gives speakeasy vibes but they have two different entrances. One for when they have night entertainment (the ramp) and the stairs is the main entrance you should enter through.

It's a bold idea to make Detroit style pizzas in the pizza capital of the country. New Haven is the benchmark for pizza perfection. In a city that has summited the peak of pizza mountain, a new beast has been born. One that honers the heritage of Italian pizza while being the antithesis of Americana. Jam City Pizza is the name of this monster. The crispy Detroit style crust, and the masterful combination of flavors concocted by chef Tyler Demora make this pizzeria a must try. Head down to the cellar on treadwell and enjoy some music or have a laugh with friends. The leftovers I had did not survive the night.

And we sure found a good one in Hamden on Friday. We saw refrigerated cases full of pastas and raviolis, counters with trays of pizzas, showcases with trays of prepared foods like sausage and oeooers, eggplant rollatinis, and seafood marinara, a sandwich counter for cold cuts, and a baked goods counter. We narrowed our want list down to three very different items. We bought two slices of their sausage pizza, two garlic knots, and three eggplant rollatinis. The pizza was fantastic! Super thin crust, plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of cheese, a very good sauce and delicious sausage chunks. Oh, and the slices were enormous. We made a dinner out of the eggplant and garlic knots. The eggplant was sliced so thin, and was so soft and tender, it resembled lasagna noodles! The rollatinis were loaded with ricotta cheese and marinara sauce and it was a fantastic dish. We split the three rolls and let me tell ya, one and a half rolls were plenty for dinner. The garlic knots were ridiculously loaded with garlic, not teeny tiny shavings, but big hunks of garlic cloves. Needless to say, they were fantastic as well. Our total cost was $24.66, and Sapori threw in four complimentary slices of fresh Italian bread with our order. We really loved Sapori a lot.

Lack of staff knowledge/training about menu items While this location gets a lot of online orders during lunch time, the staff seem to work at a glacial pace (even though there are 5+ team members behind the counter.) The cold sandwiches take even longer than the hot grilled sandwiches. There just doesn't seem to be any speed or urgency. When a specific sandwich is ordered, I'll get asked, "What do you want on it?" I'll reply, "Everything that it comes with." Staff will then say, "...But what do you want?" So then I'll have to stand there and look at the menu board and list off every ingredient the sandwich comes with. Shouldn't every employee have memorized what comes on each sandwich? On other occasions, they'll omit certain ingredients that are listed on the sandwich and I'll have to remind them to add it. They also never ask me if I want it Mike's Way (which I do) which is a minor thing, but it just adds to the energy of how much no one seems to care. Every customer seems like an inconvenience and a low priority. As a disclaimer, not all of the employees here are like this. But it seems like many of them are. This location is not streamlined, quick, or easy to visit as opposed to the others like in North Haven.

However, I ordered a small turkey chili with grated cheese on top (Ground Turkey, Kidney Beans, White Onion, and Jalapeños Simmered with Chili Powder and Other Secret Spices). I waited until I got home and slaughtered that chili. OMG, it was so flavorful and hearty. Of course, I was upset I didn't get a large. The chili came with some small crackers. The only topping needed was Beaver deli mustard (no tomato or lettuce needed). Fries nice and crispy, gravy comforting. Service great, food as good as NYC delis, price in line w other delis / restaurants. 5 delicious stars. Who knows what the coin flip will be next time. Either way, you can't go wrong.

The people working here have been very friendly (the owner I assume, the guy making the sandwiches). Polite, eager to help. They have a pretty decent sized menu of sandwiches, salads, wraps, paninis, etc. I just got a simple tuna salad sandwich last week and it was very good. They just put what you ask for and no issues either time. The place is welcoming and there are a few tables for people to sit (and not super cramped if they do). I would say that their posted menus need some reorganizing. When you come in, there is one menu on the wall to the right with salads/sandwiches/wraps...then over the counter is a small breakfast sandwich menu. Then all the way to the left in the back corner is one of those Boar's Head menus with the basics. In front there is a glass case with some side dishes with signs for additional foods/meals you can order. I think one, large streamlined menu would make things a lot more clear so you can look at all your options in one place. Otherwise the menus are all over the place. But I'll definitely come back - convenient, great to grab a quick sandwich (both times it's taken maybe 3-4 minutes to get everything all set). And they have a bunch of parking outside so that makes it easy in and easy out.
