If you're not wandering to Hamden, they have their pop-up tent located at @thegastropark in West Hartford. It was founded by friends and business partners chef Tyler Demora and James Woodward. Demora has a culinary career with more than 20 years in the restaurant industry. He has worked in kitchens everywhere from as far away as San Francisco or France, or as close as Providence or New Haven. He also runs the Feelin' Saucy food truck which specializes in pasta dishes. Demora built his own pizza oven which he intended to use for a mobile Neapolitan-style pizza venture, but he simply couldn't get the oven hot enough. He then began to experiment with steel pan pizzas and crafted what he felt were Detroit-style squares with a thinner New Haven-style crust. He partnered with his childhood friend and former bandmate Woodward to start "Jam City" as a pop-up pizzeria. After some successful pop-ups outside The Cellar on Treadwell (a small performance venue), Jam City took over their kitchen on a permanent basis. In addition to the signature Detroit-style pies (which have musical-themed names), the menu also consists of salads, wings, chicken tenders, fries, garlic pretzel knots, and sweet fried dough balls. I recently sampled some of Jam City's delicious food. I had been hearing about their delectable Detroit-style pies for some time. On the evening I visited, The Cellar was hosting a 21+ musical performance. Since I had both of my young sons with me, I decided to order food to go. The pies that we tried were "The Timebomb" (Margherita w/ basil puree), the "Stratocaster" (Enzo's pepperoni, Calabrian chili hot honey), and the "Drum Solo" (carmies, spinach, crispy prosciutto, pesto). This pizza was ! I'm partial to New Haven-style apizza myself, but I've become more fond of Detroit-style pies in recent years and Jam City crafts an excellent take on the style. All of the ingredients tasted so fresh and delicious! We also tried their delicious "Garlic Knot Pretzel Bites" (honey mustard & Sunday sauce). I'll definitely be ordering from Jam City again. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. However, the tomatoes on it were raw and that didn't feel very good. Also, there were no condiments offered on the side- like oregano- is that normal in a pizza place? Maybe I need to try more pizza places :)

I ordered a small pepperoni, and they told me . . . 20 minutes. The race was on. I walked in and they had just boxed my pizza. It was hot. Thin crust had a bit of char and a bit of corn meal on the bottom. The cheese had goos color. The pepperoni were thin. The sauce was decent. The crust had a bit of flop, but not bad. Overall, the pizza was pretty good. Service was friendly. They have easy nearby parking. My score is about 3.5 Stars, but it feels more like a round down to 3 Stars situation.

The name "Zois" is the Greek male equivalent of the female given name "Zoey", but it is also the Greek word for "life". Zois Pizza became well-known for their Greek-style pizza which is cooked in pans. Tzepos' brother Nick also operated pizzerias throughout Connecticut's Naugatuck Valley. The last pizzeria he ran before his retirement was Oxford Pizza Palace, which is currently operated by his son John. Zois Pizza is and has always been a family-run establishment. Zois' son Jim Tzepos has been running the day to day operations since the early 2000s, but Zois still pops in from time to time to make some pies. In addition to the signature Greek-style pan pies, the menu also consists of salads, appetizers, grinders, trays and calzones. I recently stopped in for dinner at Zois Pizza for the first time. I often go to downtown Seymour to see cult film screenings at the Strand Theater. I usually stop at an area restaurant beforehand to grab dinner, so I decided to try out Zois' on my most recent outing. I looked over the menu and decided to order three small pies so I could sample a few different kinds. The three that I ordered were the "Greek" (cheese pizza topped w/ fresh tomato, spinach, feta, garlic & oregano), the "Greek Godfather" (cheese pizza topped w/ sausage & roasted red peppers), and the "Roula Special" (cheese pizza topped w/ chicken, bacon, broccoli & garlic). Although I'm partial to New Haven-style apizza, these Greek-style pan pies were very good. They were full of flavor and had a nice and light, airy crust. At one point, my server checked on me and asked which of the three were my favorite. I told her that I enjoyed all three, but it was the Roula Special that really hit the spot. She responded, "OMG! That's my pizza! I'm Roula!" It turns out that she was Roula Tzepos: Zois' granddaughter! To drink, I enjoyed some cans of New England Brewing's "Fuzzy Baby Ducks" and "Sea Hag" IPAs. I was in New Haven with some friends and came here around 6PM on a Monday. The restaurant itself has a really cool look inside, between the non white walls and the neon signs, it's a great environment to devour some pizza in. It's been a year or so since I've last had Detroit style pizza so I was super stoked to order a vegan cheese and split it with my wife. The pizza came out piping hot and seemed to be made specifically for me. The dough was cooked well but still doughy, the sauce was sweet and tasty, and the daiya cheese it was covered in was great as well. I ended up eating half of the pizza in front of me and it's definitely easily become one of my favoruite pizza spots in the city. Overall, Bobbi's was a fantastic dinner spot and one of my new favourite places in all of Connecticut. The staff here went above and beyond, the place looked great, and the pizza here was absolutely delicious. I will absolutely be coming back here the next time I'm in the nutmeg state.

I ate less than a quarter of my salad. I have issues with spice but never had a salad this spicey from them. The best part of my meal was the garlic bread. The service was nice, quick and punctual.
