Attempted to visit after a one mile walk from Unity Park. Imagine my frustration and surprise when the restaurant was closed at 1:18PM on Thursday, November 7. This is the second time I've attempted to dine at Jamaica Mi Irie during its advertised business hours only to learn the restaurant was closed. Disappointing.

I really wanted to support, I hoped to be able to make this a staple when visiting but that was not the case. The one thing I need for a Jamaican restaurant to do correct is Plaintains and NOPE they didn't do right here. First they only gave me 1 (red flag) 2 IT wasn't ripe ( BIGGEST RED FLAG OF ALL)... the cabbage was orange and not flavorful at all.. the rice was soggy but the chicken was decent.. I hope they can work on these things..

WARNING! YOU WILL LOVE YOUR FOOD!!! I ordered the wing lunch special with an order of plantains and a chicken patty.

The portion sizes are great for the price and the food is VERY flavorful! If you are wanting to taste authentic Jamaican food without having to buy a flight, then this is your stop .

I haven't had the pleasure of trying much Jamaican food as I don't believe there are any Caribbean restaurants on Maui (outside of Puerto Rican establishments). My cousin, a gourmet chef from the Greenville area, highly recommended this place for lunch while my fiancé and I were visiting a couple months ago. Of course, we had to try it! The majority of my family ordered the jerk pork, as my cousin swears by it. Unfortunately, when I put my order in right after theirs, the restaurant had already run out. It is a popular item and a special that they make fresh every day, so when it's all gone, that's it! Luckily, I was still able to order the jerk chicken plate and a beef patty. I did try a piece of the pork off my other cousin's plate and it was very good - tender and flavorful! The jerk chicken was great - moist and seasoned perfectly. I think I would try to get the jerk pork early next time, just so I don't have to mess with chicken bones, but it was well worth it anyway. The rice and accompanying plantains were great. I never even knew I liked plantains as a side dish until eating takeout from this restaurant - cooked perfectly, not hard or chewy. I love pasteles but have struck out with plantains as a side at other restaurants before - not here. The side of cabbage was also excellent - a great complement to the dish! Finally, the beef patty was a great treat. You can't even get those on Maui (unless frozen possibly at the store). The crust and spices used are always so comforting. Everything was very tasty. If you are in Greenville and haven't checked this place out yet, please do.

I've been hearing about this place since I came in town and they did NOT disappoint. Everything was so good, down to the fruit punch! The fruit punch was very good. You could tell that they made in house and it was not out of a bottle. This was my first time trying oxtails and I can say I really enjoyed them! The side were also really good. The cabbage was different from from usually cabbage but it was surprisingly good. I mixed mine with the rice and beans and it was really good. I cleaned my plate and the bones. This is a little spot you should definitely try if you are looking for some good Jamaican food in town.

The food was ok, but not spicy like real Jamaican food. The atmosphere was perfect and provided a good space for a family to eat.

The leaves of the Collard Greens were very tender and flavourful. Cornbread: Served muffin style was mild in flavour and not sweet. Was a nice addition to the Collard Greens. (Pro tip: Personally, I would return for the Collard Greens alone. There is also a Vegan menu and a Soul Food Menu. The Collard Greens are 5 Star flawless. Service is efficient. The lounge is very casual. The artwork is beautiful, but some of it is hidden behind a table as noticed in my pictures. The ambience is small, but noticed there are several pickup third-party delivery drivers collecting takeout, as well as several customer pick up orders. So the food is very popular here even when there are not many dine-in customers. Next time I might order takeout as well just for the Collard Greens. Main Course: Ordered the "whitefish" fillet for the Seafood Platter (Tilapia Filet), but received a Pink Fish maybe Salmon or Red Snapper but looks sort of like a Salmon. Was not sure. Images provided. For this reason, the fish would be a 3 star. Overall, would I come back? Yes, for the Collard Greens, which I loved it was sheer perfection!

Our waiter was a superstar- in talking with him he shared he was from Ecuador and made suggestions for our lunch choice. We started with the beef and chicken empanadas- very good- and an order of maduros- ripe plantains. We should have stopped there because I was almost full at that point. For our entrees we chose shrimp mofongo- which we really see in small cities being that it is the national dish of Puerto Rico- and the paella for one. Both were wonderful. I would argue that the size of the paella should be be renamed as a lid of a trashcan serving. It was giant and we barely put a dent in it before asking for a to go box. I highly recommend this spot!

The only thing I'd change is using fresh-caught shrimp to give it more of that seaside flavor. The whole red snapper with coconut sauce was also full of flavor. We really enjoyed the mango and guava juices, and the tres leches dessert was amazing! Definitely a highlight of the meal. Other things we liked: the decor was nice, our waitress was a friendly young lady who made the experience pleasant, and the restroom was very clean. Overall, a solid spot for tasty Latin dishes and a comfortable atmosphere.
