My wife and I have been coming here for the past several months and every time, we enjoy a delicious meal, served hot and fast, by a great wait staff! One of the best breakfasts I've ever had! Our server was super friendly and very accommodating-our water glasses were never empty. And the food--O.M.G.! My eggs were perfectly cooked and the pancakes were so light and fluffy! We paid a bit extra for special maple syrup and it was to die for--so delicious!!! Ok this is a challenge, because James offers the best quality food and breakfast in the area, and the service is great. However if you go on a weekend morning expect a disaster of epic proportions. You will be waiting like cattle in a small area. Now comes the obnoxious part, you will give your name to a hosts who will do nothing with it. She is micro managed by a wicked bossy woman who tells her whom and when she may seat them. I.e. there will be 20 people waiting, numerous empty tables and the hostess will stand there looking nervous like she is going to pee her pants, until the bossy woman isn't busy and allows her to seat someone. Also if you don't say that your willing to sit at the counter you will be hearded in with the cattle and watch people walk in 15-20 mins later and be sat immediately. So in closing if you can go on a weekday or before 9am on the weekends enjoy, if not good luck, bring plenty of patience you'll need it. read more

Sometimes going out with a 5 1/2 month old is daunting. One whimper from my baby doll can send 4 heads turning to see what parents aren't keeping their kid "tame"! I felt totally at home at James Breakfast and More with her and my hubster. Their website boasts a family friendly place and they weren't lying. There were babies, kids, and adults dining together in harmony without any uncomfortable stares at temper tantrums. My daughter even met a little boyfriend her age! So it begins.... Loved the atmosphere, but the real stars of the place are the servers and hostesses. They were extremely friendly and our server Eric S was top notch. I never give servers a hard time because I was one for 10 years, but I give props when deserved. He was awesome! A new Mom needs her caffeine, and let me tell you the big cup of coffee they offer was never empty. He even said if he didn't have tables, he'd babysit. Yes! Anytime my friend, anytime! Childless people no need to read on....I can feel your eyes rolling already. Only only onlyyyy gripe was that there wasn't a baby changing station in the restroom...(I know who am I?), BUT the restaurant is in a building with suites, so there are other businesses that make up the complex. They can't get the complete blame for the community restroom. No biggie...just took my little lady out to the car, old school style. It was beautiful out today though, so in bad weather or the winter that could be annoying. It's worth the food though. We both ordered their BET, (bacon, eggs, toast), meal and it was delicious. This is the second time we've come here for Sunday brunch. The only downside is there popularity... This means a wait! We waited almost an hour last time, this time more like 40 minutes. It's worth the wait! The food was terrific. I ordered a Cast Iron Killer and my wife got Bennies with a Twist. Overly generous portions, fair pricing, and leaving content with full bellies. The only reason this place gets a second star is due to the friendliness and attentiveness of the waitstaff. Food itself gets 1-star, however, if it were possible to go lower - that's where my food rating would stand. I had the Alabama Biscuits and Gravy, but let me tell you, if anyone from the South got served what I did, they would not know what was given to them. I lived in the South for a few months and biscuits and gravy served at local fast food joints tasted better than this. The gravy was sweet and full of onions. It was garnished with peppers and more onions. Substituted the grits for hash browns, which were really over-fried shoestring potatoes with scallions. I asked for no scallions, but still got them any way. My plate was covered in oil and everything just tasted like onions. My boyfriend ordered the crab cake benedict and he didn't even finish his meal - this never happens unless he's legitimately full. He said the Hollandaise sauce just tasted like dill and everything else tasted like onions. We've never been more disappointed in food, from a 4.5-star rated restaurant no less. I guess, based on limited selection in the area, this place must be amazing to the locals. This place just tries to do too much to standard breakfast fare. Sometimes, less is more. I go to James's a couple times a month. The hours are a bit odd: they close at 2 pm, they're not open on Tuesdays, and I don't bother going on Sunday mornings because they are mobbed. But the food and service are both fantastic. Serving sizes are large, the ingredients are fresh, and the staff is warm and friendly. It sounds cliched to say this, but James's is the kind of place that everybody wishes they had in their neighborhood. Here's the most useful thing I can tell you about James's. At most restaurants, I am one of those people who finds a favorite dish and then orders it every visit. But at James's, I consistently order off the weekly/daily specials menu. Probably 70% of the time I am trying something new. For me, that's an unusual experience at a restaurant. But this place is that good. Went in there around 1.30 pm with two young daughters and had the most satisfying breakfast that we could have hoped for in the area. A place filled with mostly local folks across all age groups. This is A-OK. Pancakes good, eggs a tad bit dry, everything else was fine. Coffee of endless supply was expensive and not that good to be honest. At $2.50 it ought to be amazing beans picked by the prettiest Columbian hottie and dripped into a coffee pot as she stares at customers with a seductive look and her finger in her mouth. Never would have found this hidden gem if it wasn't for a friend's recommendation and Yelp's great reviewers. Cozy, clean and friendly, this is the type of breakfast place that you wished was in every town. My wife loved her blueberry pancakes while I was substantially full from my Omelet O'Rama, though it was slightly overlooked and not "fluffy" as advertised (see our posted pix). My first time trying this place for breakfast and I was happily surprised. Judging by the wait on a Sunday morning (approx. 35-45 mins) that usually gives you a good indication that the food is worth the wait. Yes, it was a post-holiday Sunday, so the wait might be less at other times. Now to talk about the food. I opted for the Bennies with a Twist with a side order of home fries and a cup of tea. Great place for breakfast/lunch, got the south of the border breakfast burrito with a side of corned beef hash and it was delicious with fresh veggies as part of the burrito. Good coffee and an attentive waitress helped with the meal. The burrito was huge, the hash was enough for two people. Went with 2 other people who got the omelet o'rama which basically lets you put about 16 different add-in's, you can add 1 item or 5 items or all 16, you basically make it the way you want and they each picked different additions and they both sounded great, I will probably try that next time. read more

Was heading back from a wedding overnight and stopped here on the way home. Perfect and on the way! There was a wait (it was a Sunday morning at 10am - prime time!). There are great benches outside to wait if the weather allows and the wait time was accurate. We ended up at the counter which is fine by me! I ordered the Breakfast Burrito which had the YUMMIEST homemade salsa and perfect pepper jack cheese. It also was not too "eggy" which I loved. My boyfriend got one of the combos, and wanted to make some changes to it and they were more then accommodating which is always a plus when you are just craving your breakfast a certain way! When the waitress placed my breakfast on the table, the first thing I noticed was how much chives was on the eggs and homefries. Ugh.After clearing the chives away, I noticed my hash was a rainbow of colors because they way over did the spices and peppers.I couldn't taste the flavor of corned beef at all. So disappointing. I only ate a few bites. The establishment is very clean and fresh. I didn't have to wait in line (it was midweek, just after 8am). The food was nicely presented, but was a disappointment. I had the corned beef hash and eggs. I asked for soft poached, and they were overcooked. But the hash and the home fries were virtually inedible because they were swimming in grease. And the corned beef hash had a texture similar to mousse, as if it was pureed. So, I went here for my birthday for the Skillet Killer that I read all about. I am a corned beef hash common sewer,{connosuier). I have to say, I was not impressed. The hash was served in a skillet, but was cold. I don't know how. The order went in and 2 minutes later the waitress walked over with it. I did not like the flavor of the mushy hash. I did not care for the sliced red onion that had that smell of sitting in a cold table. The eggs were cooked right, but again, cold. The potatoes were very tasty though. My wife had 2 slices of french toast. Again, she wondered how they cooked it soooo fast. It did have good flavor but the inside still looked like bread so the mixture never got a chance to soak in. Who even came up with this!? idk. who cares. It's amazing. We waited a while on a Saturday morning (expected) even though quite a few tables and booths were visibly open (unexpected, also weird.) I wonder if they were just plain old understaffed. (What kind of breakfast place is understaffed on a Saturday morning?) A few people around us got annoyed. Oh well. I don't remember all the details. I went for brunch on a Monday while visiting the area and I really hope I get the opportunity to go back. It was slow while I was there, the staff was pleasant, the food was fast and great. Great little spot for breakfast and lunch, it's warm and cozy. It's a lot bigger than what it seems from the outside of the building. Tastefully done on the inside and very spacious for dining. Staff is friendly, polite, fast and attentive to all your needs. Outgoing and very helpful as well with suggestions. Food is great and fresh and made totally from scratched. It's made with love and care the old fashion way. Today was a South of the border burrito with fresh salsa and sour cream on the side. Had three scrambled eggs in it along with fresh tomatoes, cheese, black beans and scallions. Person I was with went with the Belgian waffle with fresh homemade whipped cream, along with a mix of berries along the way. Was very tasty and not to heavy like some can be. Solid choices in a cute restaurant. There was a short wait when we arrived around 11 am. They have booths, high top seating, and a bar area where you can grab a seat. The highlight was the homefries (side)--they were some of the best I ever had. The crab eggs benedict were good--I did not see the rave reviews that others have said--rich but not nuanced in flavor. My prior review was for 4 stars , but upon reflection this place truly is the only 5 star breakfast in the area . It has the best very best food, the best ambiance, the best service. What put an exclamation point on this is the fact I did not get to eat there today.
