Just ate or should I tried to eat breakfast there with a friend. We both ordered the cast iron killer.......let's just say that was big mistake! I wouldn't feed the cast iron killer to a farm animal. Suffice to say neither of us could stomach it. It was a combination of overcooked, undercooked, overly spiced, salty, cold, warm, burning hot and burnt all in the same plate. Ultimately the waitress cleaned our table and didn't bat an eyelid at the fact two grown men had basically not eaten. I guess they are used to having food go to waste! Had a nice breakfast with my wife here on a weekday after the morning rush. Very good coffee, wife had a nicely dressed BLT with home fries and I had 2 eggs, toast bacon and hash browns. Just compared to all the breakfast/brunch/lunch type eateries I've been to, James Breakfast is certainly an A-OK of 3-stars in my book. We were prepping for a full day of shopping at the Wrentham Outlets and did not feel like eating at Cracker Barrel. We decided to check this place out thanks to some awesome Yelp reviews and the fact that the review highlights included CORNED BEEF HASH. Before we get into the tastiness, let's start with the service. Our waiter was phenomenal. Super attentive and even gave a "woot woot" when he heard that I was ordering the Cast Iron Killer. Now let's get right into the meal. I ordered the Cast Iron Killer with over medium eggs and a cup of piping hot coffee - which was tasty. This Cast Iron Killer dish literally comes in a hot skillet with a heavy serving of fresh home fries and of course, a large portion of homemade corned beef hash nestled underneath 2 perfectly cooked eggs. Everything about this dish is perfectly cooked and seasoned. After having this, there's no way I can go back to the canned variety...regardless of how crispy they make it. Thanks, James' for raising my standards when it comes to brunch and more importantly, when it comes to Corned Beef Hash. I am always a fan of new breakfast places. Breakfast seems to have its staple menu items: the eggs, bacon and hash brown combos; omelets; corned beef hash...you know the drill. So when a place scores that elusive 5 stars...it is something worth writing about. Their breakfast burrito is the first burrito I had to eat with a fork and knife. Just leaving James and I am very disappointed. Reading the reviews I expected much better than what I got. My scrambled eggs were chopped into a million little pieces which made them difficult to eat. The toast was limp and my bacon had a weird taste to it. My boyfriend liked his egg sandwich, but was initially reluctant to try this place again because last time they failed to produce a decent Eggs Benedict. The first time the yolks were rock solid ( in a EB dish they are supposed to be runny of course) and the second time the English muffins were burnt black and he couldn't even cut through it. To top it off the potatoes were ice cold. Needless to say he will not try for a third and I will not be going for a second time. Um...damn fine. For real! I wasn't expecting much from this place. It's in a different kind of location and it's got a very different layout in an office complex. Most of the time I just want meat and eggs and some cheese and let me be on my way, yet today, I got tastiness. It wasn't without some questions about ingredients though... Let me explain....I saw a delish plate of food with a bunch of biscuits and gravy. I wanted to choose it, but I saw too many bell peppers in it and I hate sweet peppers, so I chose against it. I still wanted different, so I asked about the corned beef hash and I got an answer that I couldn't tell whether they put in bell peppers or not, or any of the composition of their hash so I asked the lady, "what can I order with just meat and eggs"? She suggested steak tips and eggs. It came out quickly. I was more than happy with the food and the taste... let's talk about that for a second. This guy understands flavors. His potatoes are round, flat and fried perfectly for breakfast with little crunches here and there. The flavor of the steak was charred just as I love it at a dinner spot. The eggs? They were eggs and they were good and exactly as I ordered them which are over medium. The side items however, I left on the plate untouched; some grilled sliced tomatoes and a pile of sweet peppers and grilled onions. For me, I want your food costs to go down, so I'll always ask for the basics. Meat, cheese, eggs... I'm a simple man that loves those ingredients but I want them tasty and if I have to pick out a few sweet peppers and onions for the sake of getting your great flavors, then that's a good trade. (BTW, I know you put the extra items on there because you love your customers). Lastly, this bit is about giving thanks. I got in and out quickly. I ate alone and the lady was thrilled to hear me say "table for one" since they had a line out the door of hungry people. Thanks hostess lady person. Another great thanks goes to the dude who delivered "Franks Red Hot" since I wanted a bit of heat in my meal. The dude happily got me a small amount for the side of my plate. The last thanks goes out to the amazingly hardworking staff which churned out such a tasty meal. I sat at the last seat at the bar and could see all of the action and wow, you've got people who love to cook and believe in the art of hustling!
