    Old bay honey wings

Rough around the edges, but a local Newport staple for sure. Everyone knows everyone. The drinks are strong and the beers on tap range from major to local. Please please please try the double fried Old Bay-honey wings if you order food. Beach fries and pretzels with beer cheese are good too. Leave the kids behind. Almost biker vibes.

I was very happy (and surprised) at how good this Cheesesteak was. I have to admit that I went to James Street Tavern with low expections and they blew me away. Too bad for them because now I may be back. Good fresh well made cheesesteak. I wish it was bigger. They are known for their wings.

So it's been over 5 years since I've been in here, but for no other reason than it's just not close enough to my home base for frequent patronization. But given the last time I got what was probably the best Bloody Mary I've ever had--certainly the most ornate--I decided to have another go and check out their consistency. Well... let me just say that I was NOT disappointed. Today's beautiful concoction supported a savory cast that included bacon, a waffle-sweet potato fry, a partially julienned half of a jalapeño and a fried mozzarella cheese stick. Finally, it was further garnished with a lemon, which in my opinion, no Bloody Mary should ever do without. Once I got through the pilings and was able to get a sip of my drink, I was happy with the balance and the flavor, as well. The bartender and his accomplice holding up the back both seemed amused by my joy over this phenomenal drink. Maybe I have just been lucky... I suppose lightning CAN strike in the same place twice, but I think that there's something to this place. Come by and check it out yourself!

Monday night at James Street. The service is very friendly and the food is good for fried bar food. We had pigs in a blanket mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers. Miller light on tap and a double diet for me!!

Visited here last night with my friend Carey. What a cute little bar. Drinks were cheap and the food was great. I had the Shrimp Po Boy which had large battered shrimp and chipotle slaw, with sweet potato fries. It was fresh and spicy and delicious. Next time I want to try the Bang Bang Voodoo Cheesesteak!!

We arrived at about 5:30 in the afternoon and it was already crowded. We had to park a couple blocks away, but the weather was nice and cool, so we didn't mind. There was no cover charge, despite a band playing. The band was called The Jimmies, and they played music from the 80s (A Flock Of Seagulls, Billy Idol, Springsteen, Prince, etc.). Although I didn't eat, I noticed they had food for sale (burgers, hot dogs, chicken, etc.). An extensive craft beer selection both on tap and in cans was also offered. I had the Dale's Pale Ale from Oskar Blues brewery and the Hazy-O from Dogfish Head brewery. Both were pretty good. The place was pretty big with lots of tables. In the center were people playing corn hole. There was a sand area for kids to play (beach theme?). Once the sun went down, lights hanging from rope above us were turned on, creating a nice ambiance. For a city that doesn't have much (this came from people who live there, not me), this was a nice way to spend a Saturday night.

We will not be returning unless they accommodate more for families. There is unused space that they could easily put a child's sandpit or even some play stuff. Really disappointed we made the trip out here. We also found scrap metal in the sand area.

The food we had was fine. The mussles and frites were good, I would have thought the fries come with the sauce but they didn't. The risotto was slight malt under seasoned. The beet salad was really tasty! This resturant is always thorough when it comes to allergies. They have a hard time with the two server communication aspect. I've been here twice and both times they seemed one beat off from each other. Also for having two servers they don't check on you often enough. That could also be a communication/timing thing. (if you think someone else was there or not) we only ordered one drink because we didn't want to wait after we finished our food to order another. The drinks here are fantastic though. We dined for 2 hours and only was able to order one drink and apps. We probably would have enjoyed more but personally I didn't have to time sit any longer. I would give them one more try but 202 is a pain and this might not be worth the drive with so many comparable options of fine dining in Wilmington.
