They are hand made and they come in different flavors as well as different levels of "spicy". They are delicious, as well as extremely filling. "...I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you..." Everything was one note and sadly that note was unflavored. From the rice and beans to the oxtail there was no je ne sais quoi. I've never had cold cabbage in my entire life until my meal here. The spicy beef patty was well, "SPICY" However not in the good way, as the kids say. It was full of heat for the sake of being hot and not a flavorful profile. I continued to order more food in hopes that maybe it was a miss on my particular item ordered. A friend strongly recommended this place so I decided to try it out and we enjoyed it! Nothing fancy just good home cooked Jamaican food. You'll feel like you're eating in your grandmothers kitchen. The service is very friendly! It's a very small place so don't go with a large party because I doubt they'll be able to accommodate you. I might have counted maybe 4 tables (8-10) occupancy. They have about 5 to 6 tables, their service is exceptional btw Marcia and her daughter are great and wait let's give kudos to the chef Dad/Husband of the two ladies in the front. Now finally lets talk about FOOD: Patties: these are the divine, scrumptious just delicious and you can go wrong with these. Spicy, Mild, Curry Chicken, Jerk Chicken and even the vegetarian one too. Finally got a chance to try this place. First of all let me say the service/owner was amazing! She guided me through the menu and gave me tips on what to order. I ultimately decided on the jerk chicken and the oxtail. I also got two pieces of rum cake and a mini jug of something called peanut punch. And let's not forget the Jamaican patty. The jerk chicken and the spicy dip sauce it came with was awesome! Food also came with plantains and a little salad mix and some rice & peas. The plantains were very good. The rice & peas to me where missing some flavor. The oxtail was full of flavor and delicious. The peanut punch was phenomenal! I wish they sold it by the gallon. If you like peanuts/peanut butter you have to try it! Ok the rum cake was so amazing. It was so moist and had such a great rum flavor. Perfect ending to this Caribbean meal. The best Jamaican patty I have ever had was in Jamaica. But their Jamaican patty was equally good. The crust was so flaky and buttery. I tried both the mild and spicy. Both equally excellent. First of all, I must say you have to disregard all the negative reviews for this place because those people are out of their minds. Jamrock serves AMAZING food. To give you a little comparison, I'm from New York and there is bomb Jamaican food all over the place here, however moving to Miami I found that finding GOOD Jamaican food here would be a little more daunting than in NY. I love Jamaican food and decided to try this place out since it was so close to my school. I heard great things about it. I got the jerk chicken wrap with yuca fries and also got a spicy beef patty with cocobread to go. The wrap was very good and tasty the chicken itself is pretty spicy which I don't mind at all I love spicy food! But if your not a fan of spicy foods I wouldn't suggest this dish. I loved the fact that the wrap didn't get soggy. The patty and cocobread was delish loved it! I will def be back to try the rice and peas & oxtail. I was really craving a Jamaican patty and I happened to stumble upon this restaurant. I got there on a Sunday, an hour before closing, but the door was locked. They closed early because they were catching a flight. I was really hoping they still had patties left so I can quickly buy one and not hold them back too long. I stopped by yesterday and chatted with the owner, Marcia (pronounced mar-si-ya). She is a warm and lovely lady and with a take out menu in hand, told her I would be back. Well, I returned today with a friend who is also a Jamaican food aficionado and boy am I glad that I did! My friend had curried goat served with pigeon pea rice and plantains, and I had the jerk chicken with steamed cabbage & carrots and plantains. We also had a side order of the roti which was served with a very spicy 'gravy'. The food and sauces are on the spicy side (which I like), but you can also request that the sauces be served on the side. They are also happy to make suggestions. All I can say is YEAH MON...WOW!!! All of the food was delicious and plentiful. I am so glad that I discovered this gem in my neighborhood. It is quite small, so there are only a few tables inside, and a couple outside. It is family owned - Marcia's daughter and niece also work there and they too are very sweet, very helpful and utterly delightful. The prices are reasonable and there are lots of Jamaican goodies to purchase. I'll be back soon to order the Lenten family fish special (only available on Fridays during Lent).
