Salmon bowl and iced matcha latte
    Gabriela L.

This is a beautiful, clean and spacious cafe built into MoMa. There's plenty of seating and they have a vast menu of drinks, full lunch options, and light bites and pastries. The service is pretty fast and they constantly made sure that every table was cleared and cleaned for new patrons. I stayed to have my delicious salmon bowl and iced matcha latte and work on my laptop for a little bit. It's a treat to find a cafe where you can work, has clean restrooms, and has a great food menu. Jane On Third checks all these boxes.

Jane on Third is located on the first floor of SFMOMA, no museum ticket required, no reservations, walk-ins only. Due to the proximity to the Moscone Center, this Jane (there are multiple in the Bay Area) can get crowded with convention and conference participants. Seating options are generous, including two dining areas and a bar overlooking the kitchen. Baked goods are a delight, including a variety of cookies large enough to share. My favorite salads are the Niçoise and the roasted salmon. Salad serving sizes vary based on the preparer; generally, they are large enough to take some home. A luncheon with Jane is a great escape from the office, a mini vacay if you will, with lots of good (sometimes international) people watching available, given the often-diverse conventioneers. Browse the Museum Store on your way out for a few more minutes of distraction before heading back to complete the afternoon.

Wonderful service and space. Shoutout to manager Chris! I hosted a large group here last-minute and ran up a big tab during Super Bowl week, and they handled it with ease and grace. Great location in the MoMa, I feel like I remember going to the restaurant here when I was a kid. It's light and airy, easily accessible by bike or transit. Baked goods were delicious! They had I heart SF and football cookies for the Super Bowl. Matcha and lattes were delicious and creamy. Good quality. A friend liked their sandwich. Lots of seating in the back too. Free WiFi from the museum, no login needed. Will be back for sure!

This cafe is located inside the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. I can't believe I didn't notice that this was here during our last visit to MOMA. We were here to check out the KAWS family exhibit. We haven't ate all morning so we decided to check out Jane. You have to enter through the MOMA main entrance and go towards your right. There aren't any menus on the wall, but they did place the menu on a table right before you stand in line. The prices were reasonable. There is plenty of seating and you just seat yourself before (if you're with another person) or after you order. There were plenty of options on the menu. From avocado toasts, sandwiches, to all day breakfast. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and a KAWS gingerbread cookie (super cute!!!) and my man ordered the breakfast plate with French toast and s'mores tart. My breakfast burrito tasted really good, except it fell apart after my first bite. I had to eat the rest with a fork lol. My man's let me have a bite of his French toast and it was AMAZING! The gingerbread cookie was definitely one of the best I've ever tried and we loved s'more's tart. You can't just have 1 bite. The service was great. Staff were friendly and we didn't wait long for our food. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to grab a bite to eat. You don't need museum tickets to eat here either.

I can see most everyone else liked Jane on Third but I tho k I made a bad choice for lunch today. I love the Vietnamese sandwiches banh mi do I ordered that and I was very disappointed. I assumed incorrectly it would be on a soft roll but it was on a very hard baguette. It was almost 100% made if big chi had of chicken that kept falling out of the bun, almost no daikon of carrot which is my favorite part. It was awful. My husband fared better with a salmon salad bowl. It was quite good and he shared with me. We had to wait a long time for the food. People are saying the service was good which I don't really understand. We waited in a pretty line to order. We got water ourselves. Food was dropped off after a long wait and tables were cleaned very quickly. There wasn't really any service. I will just get a pastry if I go back.

Finally, a new cafe in Soma that is open on the weekends... and it's Jane nonetheless! I have always been a fan of Jane's other locations for breakfast/pastries, so I was thrilled to see this new location on Third attached to the MOMA. The interior: modern/sleek, casual, and PLENTY of seating. Not loud, great for getting work done or catching up with friends. The service: quick and efficient. You order at the counter, they hand you a table number stand, you seat yourself at a table, and they bring the food out to you. The food: equally as good as the other Jane locations and reasonably priced. I ordered the Egg White Panini (dine in) and a Matcha Latte (to go). The Egg White Panini always hits the spot when I want something clean and filling. Jane's freshly baked sourdough bread is also incredible. For the Matcha Latte, the alternative milk options are the same as their other locations, oat or almond. Needless to say, I will be a regular here!

Date of visit: 12/1/2025 We visited Jane on Third on a Monday afternoon with my friend. We got latte and sat in the dining room. The latte was nice and we had a great time!

Um cuttteee. This is a coffee shop inside the SF MOMA. My favorite part were the KAWS gingerbread cookies! They offer coffee and pastries as well as fresh baked breads that are 1st come first serve. The coffee is solid I really liked it. Smooth and robust. But what really brought me over were the KAWS gingerbread cookies which taste wise weren't that great but cute none the less!

I didn't know there was a Jane on Third until I became a SF KAWS Members. Me and my girlfriend stopped by here and ate some sandwiches I ordered a chicken banh mi. The service here is fast and reliable and the ambiance is super nice it overlooks SFMOMA and it's right inside of SFMOMA. We also ordered some sprinkle cookies which were so good

Jane on Third replaced Grace at SFMOMA on the ground floor of the museum. This cafe is open to the public, no ticket required, and welcomes walk-ins. Great bakery with good coffee/teas and other yummy food. Their sample menu will change frequently. Hours Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Located on Third between Howard and Minna.

I'm so happy Jane opened in the MoMa because it's a great addition to that space. There's a lot of natural light and seating inside. Sourdough loaf - the crust is a little bit tough but the inside was very soft and fluffy. It was on the more mild side of sourness. Oh Captain cookie - a solid sugar cookie. It's definitely more soft and chewy than crispy but I prefer my cookies on the chewier side.

The good: the gorgeous bread, quite large portion for salad/ sandwich combo, lovely espresso drinks. Makes for a nice break in a convenient location when visiting MoMA. Could use help: the restaurant is woefully understaffed, in spite of counter ordering. They struggle with keeping up with orders and keeping tables cleared. They're far from alone, but it is tough when you're serving a tourist locale.

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

We came for a factory tour, about an hour long. It was fascinating and educational to learn about the craft of chocolates from fruit to beans to the chocolate bar, and to get to chocolate taste along the way. Their work is inspiring-adding minimal ingredients to their chocolate bars so that the flavors of the cacao beans shine naturally from where they originate. After the tour, we tried the hojicha hot chocolate, the celebration cake, and the matcha cookie. For the hojicha hot chocolate, the tea flavor was subtle, but good chocolate. The celebration cake was what we expected-glad it wasn't overly sweet so that cocoa is more pronounced, but it also wasn't too rich; I felt the chocolate here in some sense lacked depth. The matcha cookie was my favorite-a cake texture matcha exterior encasing a denser brownie-like chocolate core - a delicious combo! Last thoughts to prep for the experience if you tour- 1.) Eat before you go on the tour-sampling chocolate means you do get caffeinated, and you'll likely purchase more chocolate (more caffeine!) after :) 2.) Included with the tour is a complimentary chocolate drink of choice at the end, in case you were pondering whether to buy the hot chocolate or not ;) 3.) Dandelion Chocolate products are pricey but quality. Paying the price feels like it's appreciation of their art. If you love chocolate, it's a wonderful place to visit at least once!

So creamy ice cream this the name Garden Creamery. LOL…read more Although there was a line, it went by okay, no rush. Everyone in line was polite with their friends. Plus, I Needed time to narrow down what 2 flavors I wanted. I was happy to be finally in the area and it was open! I haven't been back since the pandemic. They open late in the day and I am not here at those times until my event at the rooftop restaurant was about a block and half away on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I found the line to be wrapped around the store in the corner. Ice cream still tastes creamy and unique flavors are lovely. With two sold out flavors I decided to go with matcha Oreo and classic Vanilla Lilikoi which is Tahitian Vanilla with passion fruit which was the best flavor (most popular one - just look at the tub as most people ordered it. I would normally order the ice cream in a cup to get a better ratio of ice cream. But I decided I hadn't had a cake cone in years, so I went for that cone. It was like going back to my childhood eating ice cream with my parents. Yup this place still lives up to its name as ice cream is creamy and unique bold flavors are the draw as they make their own flavors and use fresh ingredients with 100% grass-fed, organic dairy from local Petaluma family farms. They also make a super creamy line of coconut-based vegan sorbet - sweetened with agave nectar, for a non-dairy alternative. Their tea are from Japan and Asian countries which is why the matcha ice cream tastes good. They also l pasteurize their bases. Then they slow churn each flavor with virtually no incorporation of air which creates the smooth textures and authentic flavors of the regions. Ice cream was yummy in my tummy and it gives me an excuse to hang out more down in this area for great ice creams The Mission has a number of excellent ice cream, all different in their own ways. In the old days they used to have Chimney Cone in 2017 but I never had a chance to try it. I am sure it tasted good, but it must have been labor intensive and they are a small shop. But their main selling point is focusing on the ice cream unique flavors that rotate.
