Love Heidelberg Cafe, been enjoying the Bistro for many years. Food is delicious and the staff is friendly!

Honestly, it was challenging finding a brunch place on a late Saturday morning and the line was so long when we arrived, we went across the street but everything at the place we checked across the street was meat-based with few vegetarian options, so we went back to Heidelberg. The wait wasn't as bad as we thought and gave us a chance to review the menu better. This place has quick turnaround for sure. Even though we were happy with what we ordered, we enviously eyed other plates coming out of the kitchen while we waited. We shared a California burrito, sans bacon, and avocado toast. Both were delicious! As were our coffees. There weee a few things I eyed on the menu that I plan to order next time I go back! read more

This is a nice restaurant at the corner of the street. Parking is street parking and is metered. For eating there, line up, let them know your party number grab a menu and find an available table. When you're ready to order head back to order where you'll be given a number. The food was fresh, delicious and visually appealing. The service was also on point. Staff were friendly. Ordering: The line was a bit long, and there are no reservations, so tables get taken quickly. It's worth being prepared to wait a little during busy times. We stopped by this spot while visiting Laguna Beach and decided to give it a try for breakfast. My partner ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and thought it was just okay, nothing memorable. I tried a few of the chips that came with it and unfortunately they tasted stale, which was definitely disappointing. For my meal, I ordered the Eggs Benedict (the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce). It was okay overall, but I found it pretty flavorless. The hollandaise sauce didn't add much flavor, and the dish wasn't very memorable. I had to add a lot of ketchup and hot sauce to add flavor... One thing I did appreciate was that the restaurant appears to be family-owned, and I believe it's been in business for over 16 years. It's always nice to support a local business, and the prices were fair for the Laguna Beach area. The location is also a plus. It's within walking distance of the beach, and they offer validated parking with a parking structure located behind the restaurant, which makes visiting much more convenient. Overall, the food was not anything that would make us want to return. Between the stale chips and the lack of flavor in my meal, it felt more like a one-time visit rather than a place we'd seek out again. read more

A bit out of the Laguna main downtown area, this is a solid casual brunch spot. Depending on where you're sitting, you have a bit of an ocean view (unfortunately you also get a view of the Jack in the Box). Our group of 4 had the California scramble (with real eggs instead of whites), bacon breakfast burrito, cheeseburger and eggs Benedict, plus a black coffee and an iced tea - total came to just under $100 which is pricey for an order-at-the-counter place. Overall everything was good to very good, but a few odd things - the jam had a weird sour flavor and when I asked if they had any other kind (even a smuckers packet would've been better), the woman working there just said no and turned her attention to the next person. The breakfast burrito also came with 3-4 broken Tostitos scoops chips, like someone emptied the crumbs from the bag as an afterthought. The table next to us rotated our umbrella so they could be shaded from the sun, so we tried to open another umbrella (because now we were fully exposed) and a staff member ran over to tell us we couldn't do it. They should figure out a better configuration for their umbrellas, or maybe invest in a shaded cover for the patio. We still liked the food so would go back when in the area. Parking is street parking only, but had no issues finding a spot. The location is amazing and has a cute little ocean view that makes the whole experience feel extra special. I also loved the decor inside it felt bright & welcoming. Service was fast and friendly throughout the visit. The avocado toast absolutely stood out & was honestly some of the best I've had. Also tried the apple muffin, which was amazing, and the chocolate croissant was delicious as well. Everything felt fresh and well made. My friends and I came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. There was a line, but it moved quickly. After ordering, we were given a number to take to our table, and our food was brought out fairly quickly. I ordered the Avocado Toast and added an over-hard egg. It comes on a slice of toasted wheat bread with a good amount of fresh avocado. I prefer a thicker bread. I really enjoyed the sundried tomato garlic spread. We went here once for breakfast and two additional times for some lattes to-go during our Laguna Beach stay. This place gets busy on weekend mornings so plan to stand in a bit of a line. You order at the counter and there's self seating inside and out on the patio. You can partially see the ocean from some of the patio spots which is nice. There's lots of breakfast options and I like that you can order one or more of the breakfast sides. So you can get a little bit of everything. I had the almond French toast and my husband had the breakfast sandwich. We both shared some bacon, eggs, and breakfast potatoes. Their lattes are pretty tasty, and I would say I'm picky when it comes to iced lattes. They offer a few different special flavors. This is a great little cafe spot that I would be happy to come back to. read more

Wow.. friendly staff, great atmosphere, and even better food! I absolutely loved coming here and can definitely see myself back here when in Laguna. They have a good amount of seating indoors + outdoors (bonus point, it's pet friendly!) We sat outside and had a great view of the ocean. Like all the other reviews say, you order at the counter and they bring your order to you at whatever table you sit at. Upon arrival, the service was so warm and welcoming. I loved their patience in helping me order and along with checking up on us as we were dining. The food here was amazing! I got the breakfast burrito with no meat, and it was so good. It was a great size, filled with eggs, hash browns, and melted cheese along with a spicy red salsa. The salsa that came with the burrito had a slight kick to it, but wasn't too spicy. You order at the counter first and then they give you a number to place at a table. Service was excellent! The cashier and the server were kind and we received our orders pretty quickly. The cafe had plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. For our morning brew, we had the toffee nut latte and a matcha latte. You can order your bevy in three different sizes and we were shocked how large a medium size actually was. We can't imagine how large an actual large would be... that said, both were delicious, earthy, and not overly sweet. For food, we had the Eggs Heidelberg which is their house special eggs Benedict. What's different about their eggs beny from others is their use of French bread instead of English muffins. Generous amount of roasted cherry tomatoes, with jammy poached eggs on top of smoked salmon makes this a relatively light version of eggs Benedict compared to the heavier ones smothered in hollandaise elsewhere. Recently visited with my girlfriends while on a trip and enjoyed this restaurant. It was an order at the counter and they take it to your table place and while it did take a little bit longer to get our food (it wasn't a huge weight. I was just told it took an additional 10 minutes than it usually would because they were extremely busy) the food was good. The mimosa is delicious and the coffee was definitely what we needed.. Pleasantly surprised. The lady at the counter who took our order was friendly and patient as we browsed the menu. They had plenty of comfy booth seating inside and also seating outside. I ordered the classic Eggs Benedict which was perfectly executed. The yellow on eggs was runny and the hollandaise sauce was as good as I've ever had it. The side of potatoes were also tasty. I also ordered the Vanilla Lavender latte which was perfectly sweetened. Prices are reasonable and probably one of the better deals in Laguna Beach. Walk across the street and go to the beach after. The bacon was good. We got sides of those. It wouldn't be as bad if the tables were clean but my son sat into some kind of berry that was on the chair and then he accidentally touched the bottom of the table and there was more of it on the table. The tables were sticky like they need a good deep clean. That alone just makes you loose your appetite. The sticky tables literally just set us to a bad start right away. We changed to a different table and it was even stickier. Would not come here again. Not worth the money. The lady behind the cash register was nice though so she deserves a star!
