The Banana Cream Pie was sooo gorgeous! Loved my latte & would have totally hung out there longer if we weren't just passing through Atwater on a road trip. Coffee shop is really modern and cute with lots of interesting syrup options (I couldn't decide as per usual so the sweet barista let me do a little of each). Lots of delicious-looking pies, to-go boxes of cookies & other artful baked goods available! The breakfast burritos are massive & great for splitting. Wish the guac, sour cream and salsa were added inside the burrito rather than on the side so it was easier to eat on the go and less plastic waste, so recommend requesting that if you too get to enjoy one of these bigger-than-your-head burritos on the open road! Went in for lunch and unfortunately the food was mediocre at best. It didn't compare at all to the breakfast we had on a previous visit--this time everything lacked flavor. The cold condiments were warm, and the service was very slow. Our waitress even asked if we wanted dessert before we had received our entrées, which felt rushed and confusing. I've ordered the famous cheeseburger chowder many times before, but this visit was disappointing. It was runny and lacked the hearty ingredients it's known for. I've been coming to Jantz for so many years. I recently went in with my huge family of 13 and realized how much it has grown! I love the new(ish) extension of the coffee shop. Very needed in the area. Contemporary and minimal decor (we love that) and great coffee selection. I decided to spurge and ordered a Snickerdoodle white chocolate with 2 add shots of espresso. Absolutely delicious but definitely on the sweeter side, for this reason, I went with a lunch option instead of breakfast. I got the chicken Caesar wrap with pasta salad. Delicious Caesar salad wrapped in a spinach tortilla with house-made croutons. When I come in for breakfast, I always order cinnamon french toast with dutch honey. That dutch honey is so good, we usually buy some to take home. Also - don't sleep on their rewards program. I don't use it because I don't live in the area anymore but my family does and the points rack up so fast! I get so jealous, free food baby! A final sidebar: back to my huge family of 13 - the service is always so patient and sweet. We have 3 kids and 2 older only Spanish speaking folks in the fam and Jantz staff never get frustrated or anything. It happens at restaurants sometimes so I feel like it's important to note! Saturday, 2/19/2022 - Went to eat at Jantz Cafe & Bakery. Cute little restaurant. You have to wait to be seated. Upon arrival: Pros: 1) lots of parking! No paid parking. Yay! 2) you have to wait to be seated. 3) I was surprised by all the bakery items they had for sale. Cookies, pies, cupcakes, breads, etc. 4) service was good. Got our water right away. Our waitress was very nice. She checked in on us several times. Whatever we needed, she got for us 5) we got our foods. Foods were good. My turkey avacado lettuce wrap was yummy! Our boys ate their French Dip sandwich. 6) restaurant was clean. Utensils, cups, plates, benches were all clean. 7) water tasted good. No metal taste. 8) the slice of pie we got was absolutely delicious!!! I love, love, love the soft, almost croissant-ish crust on the pie!!!! It was perfect with the chocolate mousse-ish pie we got. I highly recommend the pies here. Cons: 1) my salad had a few mushy greens in it. I had to pick out the mushy, stringy greens. Conclusion: Love this little restaurant. Service good. Pies delicious. We had a party of 2 at 10:45 on a Wednesday, just before the lunch rush started. Get there no later than 11:00 if you don't want to have to wait! We are so glad we happened to go on a Wednesday because they have FREE PIE!! At first, they tried to tell us that because we had breakfast, we wouldn't get the free pie because it's for lunch only. Luckily, we were able to convince them otherwise. Here's what we got: - French Toast Combo ($14.49): The french toast was delicious, especially with their homemade warm dutch honey. My husband said the bacon was good. He got a side of scrambled eggs and those were also good. - Veggie Omelette ($13.49): The omelette was huge! I could only eat half. They did not skimp on the veggies or cheese. The reason for 4 stars is the potatoes. They were barely seasoned and were boiled - not crispy at all. Also, the biscuit was underdone and had no color. We chose a slice of Banana Cream Pie and Dutch Apple Pie as our free pies and they were amaaaazing. We totally understand the hype. We recommend! read more

1rst knock on this restaurant- while waiting in line to be served, the cook came by and saw the group behind us and told the hostess to give them 1rst class seating. Shocking to hear this that this is still going on! I am assuming that all customers are treated as 1rst class. 2nd knock- Our breakfast was all cold- the country potatoes, the toast, the sunny side up eggs, the ham. Cold to the touch- not event the butter melted when put on the toast. The only thing hot was the coffee, which was good. I have never had a cold breakfast ever at a restaurant. First time customer. Everything we had was great. We ordered a three meat omelette and cinnamon swirl french toast. The meat in the omelette was so good and I loved trying the Dutch honey with the french toast for the first time. The home fries are very flavorful. All so yummy!!
