Jardin Corona is by far one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I've been going here for 30+ years. The salsa is just perfect, always cold and crisp. Nothing I've had on the menu has disappointed me. Honestly, I came in expecting this to be very much like Chuy's - good food but not the most authentic Tex Mex food. We came in for Saturday lunch and just luckily made it before the breakfast window ended at 1 pm because the breakfast tacos options are numerous. I no longer live in the Austin area so I miss breakfast tacos like crazy (and also Texas prices). I ordered the barbacoa two and the chorimigas taco, and they were arrived with plenty of filling, which I was pleasantly surprised by. Each taco was about $2-3, depending on what you choose. We also decided to order a round of margaritas because they're only $5?!? (If you order them flavored, they're $6.) Finally, service was pretty great. Our waitress was very nice, checked on us a few times, and when she made a mistake on the receipts she realized it before she even gave them to us and left to correct it immediately. Thanks! Bottom Line: Excellent service, professional, and the food was not bad I was in town for the week for a business thing, 30 minutes off the place and starving. After getting booked into my hotel, I noticed this place across the parking lot and there's nothing like a mom n pop Mexican food spot. I grabbed a seat at the bar and had a few drinks, ate my Enchiladas and chatted with the bar staff. The people there were cool and very professional, there are a million (possibly more) TV's in this spot (I always forget how much Texans enjoy their sports) so it was an enjoyable experience. Since we've been coming here, the standards have unfortunately declined. Because of Father's Day the place was packed with families celebrating which was sweet. Aside from that, a lot was left to be desired. The chips were stale, salsa wasn't spicy at all (borderline sweet actually), the fajitas had no char whatsoever, and both of my drinks tasted like pure mix without any tequila at all. My wife and I, about to be empty nest, have been a regular at this 183 location on Sunday nights. We always sit at the bar, and the atmosphere is great. Bartenders are constitent, nice, and always snappy with the drinks. Margs are excellent, especially the rocks. The Queso is good, not the best I've had, but very good. The salsa is excellent , chips are very good too. We sometimes split fajitas, the beef and chicken are both excellent. Their chicken enchiladas are very good and the cheese enchiladas are great. I've had chicken Taquitos too, and very good. This isn't what I call high end TexMex. It's a casual, very good food, family restaurant. I can eat here 2 or 3 times a week and be as happy as it gets. So the 5 star is based on the type of restaurant it is. It's the casual go to, and I love it. It gets very busy, and I'be had a few times the waiter was a little swamped at tables, but they busted their tail to catch up and I put myself through college as a server, so I give some patience on that if they get triple sat, ha. Greasy beyond measure, and yes i understand that chorizo can be greasy but this was greasy to the point of it dripping down our arms. Husband ordered chicken milanesa and the chicken was just as rubbery as the choriqueso. He left 90% of the chicken. I have been here twice, once for takeout for dinner when they were slammed and once for lunch to eat-in this past Sunday and both experiences were excellent. This restaurant is just North of McNeil in the shopping center with Main Event. They have a nice covered patio. Their chips and salsa are just right. Beef enchiladas, rice and beans are excellent. Chicken and beef fajitas are excellent. Beer came out extra cold in a chilled mug. My friend said their burritos are great, so I'll try them next. Portion sizes are generous, and prices aren't bad. Service is responsive and efficient even when they are busy. I am perplexed why the reviews aren't higher. I have recommended this gem to my friends. read more

Seemed like our waiter may have had some difficulty understanding our orders or didn't understand English very well bc we had to repeat ourselves multiple times. The gorgeous fall weather lead us to the patio at Jardin Carono (by Main Event) where we found plenty of well distanced tables and enough big screen TVs to keep my guy entertained and not mind sitting in the bright sunshine. The chips were good, the salsa fresh but very mild. I ordered the Grande swirl margarita ($10.00), and the carne guisada enchiladas. He had beef and chicken fajita enchiladas. Both came out piping hot, and looked very similar, with lots of melted Velveta and roja sauce, rice and refried beans flanking our entrees. The rice was very buttery and tasty, and without the usual chili powder overkill. I skipped the beans but my guy liked them and we both felt the meats yummy and left overly full. Why 5 Stars let's just say this It's super close to my house and they are always accommodating when we show up near closing time and always take care of us with a smile. The owner/manager and staff are always super nice and treat us like family, I'm not sure if it's because we go there 2-4 time a week or that they are just really nice people in general either way we love they way they are and how they treat us every time. Well you ask what food and drink are the best: Can't go wrong with the margaritas all flavors frozen or on the rocks. Beer on tap, well I wish their prices were more in line with other local restaurants I can get the same size draft beer for $4.50- $5.50 at other restaurants here at Jardines it's $9.50 and up, so if I'm drinking beer then we usually go elsewhere. The move from Pond Springs to the 183 N/B feeder unfortunately left some of the good flavors and spices behind, it seems- the main table salsa has weakened (ask for the picosa if you expect heat) and the fajitas now have more in common with the bigger chains like Serrano's. Very good!! Got the Mole Chicken. The shredded chicken was tender and can tell it was simmered in broth. The mole sauce was complex but had a great balance of all the ingredients. My friends both got the fajitas... One chicken and one shrimp and they both smelled wonderful. I ordered two Babocora tacos to go for my husband... Not too greasy and he actually gave them.... thats pretty alright. Wish they were down South because it looks like most of their location are up north. Had a pleasant Sunday afternoon and if I find myself in that area... Will definitely check it out again. The menu has something for everyone. Good prices and good size portions. Not a big fan of the Jardin Corona family of restaurants but I've got to say this location is not bad. Typical large menu with plenty of options. My companion ordered chicken enchiladas and I ordered the Chili Rellenos. Both entrees were OK not overly spicy but the price and portion size made for a fulfilling lunch. Our chips and salsa were typical Tex Mex chips were fresh and the salsa was average. They have a good selection of local craft beers and they make a decent Mexican Martini. The service was excellent as were checked on throughout our lunch. I do have to say that Jardin is much better than the previous venue 3rd Base. That joint turned bad almost overnight. What started as a hole in the wall on Pond Springs in the 90's with some hot sauce competition trophies on the wall moved to the former pizza place in the 2000's which then expanded into the dressmaker's old spot. Then moved to its current location. Over 25 years of history here. Its secret shows, affordable good food. Good drink prices. Lunch specials, breakfast menu (Avoid ordering potatoes, they never seem to get them right.) It's old hat to say things in Austin aren't as good as they were. Hungry for some Tex-Mex? Try Jardin Corona. It is located beside Research Blvd not too far from the Lakeline Mall. There is plenty of parking. They have inside, outside covered, outside uncovered, take out and even curbside pick-up dining. I called and placed my order over the phone for curbside pick-up and was told that my food would be ready in 15 minutes. Therefore, I immediately went to the car and drove to the restaurant. There was several cars there when I arrived, but the Curbside server came to me car within 3 or 4 minutes after parking. He was wearing a mask. Then went inside and got my food. I ordered Pechuga Jardin Corona. A chicken breast stuffed with Monterey Jack cheese, bacon and mushrooms, lightly fried and topped with chile con queso. It is served over a bed of rice with charro beans, pico de gallo and guacamole. It also came with 3 tortillas. Additionally, there was chips with salsa and queso that come with the meal. The chicken breast was large, moist and super delicious. There was a lot of beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. They supplemented the meal perfectly. I enjoyed my entire meal immensely. Thank you Jardin Corona for being in the Cedar Park/Auston area and for being a good neighbor by adapting to the current guidelines. I've been going to Jardin Corona for years back when they were located in a strip mall off Pond Springs and this location is much larger and easier to get to. There are plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors and during peak times the wait isn't too long. I did notice the salsa is not as hot as it used to be but still good. The chips are a little on the dry side but that's nothing that more salsa doesn't fix. I ordered the Mexican fajitas which has more chilies instead of bell pepper which I prefer. The portion for 2 was plenty just I wished they had charred the meat more as it felt like it was steamed and didn't have that extra flavor. I guess next time I'll stick to the mole or carnitas my other faves. The drinks are nice as they offer tons of different flavors for the margs. Service as always is great. read more

A hidden jam, and our new family go to for Mexican food. They have a chips and queso dish that is normally unique, but might be the very best dish I have ever had, I'm old. I would know. They also make three Quarter size to go tacos that are sinful, and overall my sons, and I along with their uncle Doc were blown away by the quality of food and service, everyone should go because we need to keep this restaurant in business. The parking lot was a challenge. On a Sunday night there were zero open spots. Turn on shark mode... stalking for the next person to leave any establishment and snag their spot. The shark mode won.
