Jared's Wild Rose Resort was a huge disappointment. I really must applaud whoever did their website because it portrays a wonderful place to stay. Unfortunately, the reality is quite different. We had booked a hotel style room in one of their buildings. They also have cabins and RV hook ups. As soon as we found the place, their very dated and faded sign out front was the first indication that this place was old. It's over 100 years old and in many ways, feels like it. Despite this being a large property, it was pretty deserted. We only saw a couple of other people staying there. A pay phone on the wall. The "arcade" was dingy and outdated. The gym seems to be storage room. I opened the door to the gym and there was a mattress inside almost blocking the door. The first room they showed us felt like a basement because the view was slightly below ground, looking at galvanized metal placed just outside the window. The room was tiny and smelled musty. We asked for a different room. The second room they showed us was also tiny and smelled musty. It had a view that still made it feel like a basement, but at least it didn't have metal outside the window. We asked for a different room. The third room was bigger and had a full window view. It didn't smell, so we took it. We could see the resort was old and dumpy, but figured a clean bed and a shower was really all we needed. Our mistake was assuming the room actually had a bed. The so-called bed turned out to be nothing more than a queen sized metal cot with a thin mattress on it. OMG, that thing was so uncomfortable! At 3am we still hadn't been able to ignore the discomfort and had not gotten to sleep yet. My back was in so much pain!! We had booked four nights there, but we couldn't survive one. We started calling around to find another hotel with real beds and a vacancy. Once we found one, we packed up the car and checked out when the office opened. The guy at the desk didn't seem surprised at all and was very nice about it. Clearly he's used to the complaints. Jared's Wild Rose has been dying a long slow death. I decided to spend my 65th birthday at this place on Henry's Lake, Idaho and wished I had NOT. I have fished my entire adult life and tried to do extensive research on Henry's Lake in particular for a month before making the trip. I learned early on in my searches that someone in the state of maybe the State Fish and game or tourism board in the state of Idaho filters/disallows/removes any negative or informative utube reviews off of the internet completely. I had a very hard time finding out ANY UP-TO-DATE information about fishing on Henry lake and want to warn anyone reading this now that this place is ANCIENT HISTORY. I spent two days on and around this lake fishing hard and never seen one person catch a single fish. The lake was completely loaded with Algae columns and it is only 28 feet at its deepest to very very hard to troll. There were millions of gnats and bugs all over the lake so if there was any fish they were full to the gills with food. We did not even see small minnows or perch or anything. Sad to say they have not spent any money on this lake for years to keep the trout stock up to par. After being a 100 ton Coast Guard licensed Captain for decades and trained to look for conditions and reasons I firmly believe that this lake STOPPED planting any trout years ago. when you walk into the Restaurant tackle store at Jareds Wild Rose Resort ALL of the past big trout catch photos are all on polaroids and all from the early 2000's over 20 years ago. No newer catches on the wall of photos than that. CHECK OUT THE ATTACHED BULLSHIT OLD TIME PHOTOS, NOTHING MORE RECENT THAN 2006....!!!! This place is NOT going to tell you there is not fish but that is the case here. They quit spending money to keep the trout population up. 'They are going to always tell you to come on down and fish. They ripped me off and charged me a full day for a 3 1/2 hour trip with my grandson. I am disputing the overcharged room and boat with my bank now.... Not to mention the absolutely horrid room we rented "The Rose Room" for $390 dollars for one night, one bed two couches hah another story in itself. We had 3 cheeseburger plates at the restaurant and they were old purple frozen hockey puck paddies and I love burgers but not this one. $15.00 for a nasty nasty burger....... Stay fish and eat somewhere else, you have been warned!!!!!!!! read more

Ended up staying here during our Yellowstone visit because everything else was booked up for miles around. Not the absolute worst experience I've ever had, but certainly not great. Let's start with a couple positives: - Beautiful location - Quaint, rustic rooms - Our room had a gas fireplace, which was nice - Fulfills its purpose as a place to sleep for the night Now, let's talk about the negatives: - Overpriced for what you get - Parking is more difficult than it should be, I don't think there's an actual parking lot so you just kind of have to parallel park on the grass in front of one of the buildings - Wifi did not work at all - TV barely worked - Shower could not stay warm for more than 2 minutes - Room next door was up talking and laughing until 1am (not the fault of the hotel but annoying) A couple of neutral points: - The room phone was in the bathroom - Most of the signage was in both Chinese and English (must have a lot of Chinese guests?) - They apparently charge a fee for rearranging the room furniture, so be sure to put everything back exactly how it was Overall, it was not a horrible experience because we were basically only sleeping there, but try to get another lodging option if you can. read more

We stayed in the renovated "Mail Cabin". This historic mail stop for the Pony Express is a quiet, secluded, cabin next to a stream, with a view of Henry's Lake. I had the best sleep of my life! There is a restaurant, store and game room on site. The friendly staff is always happy to help with whatever you need, just ask. We were absolutely mortified when we came In the room. The bedroom was exceedingly smaller than expected with trashy bedding and the bathroom had 1 hand towel with 2 disgusting washcloths. On top of that the bathroom had a malodor. Later in the night we noticed the smell of cannibis wafting through the halls.The only redeemable qualities where the store, game room, and it being on the lakefront. read more

Loved this place! We enjoyed a babbling brook behind our motorhome and were about 100 yards from the lake. There is fishing, boats and kayaks to rent, an arcade, basketball court and trails. Staff was very nice. We'd go back. read more

I was a little nervous about staying here because of all of the mixed reviews I saw. Nothing to be nervous about. We had a large party so we had two cabins. They were absolutely lovely. Comfortable beds. The rooms were large. Everything was clean. We didn't spend much time on the grounds, but did enjoy the convenience of the refrigerator and microwave. It was nice and close to Yellowstone. We had beautiful views of Henry's Lake with the mountains in the background. The staff was friendly. We had a really nice experience overall and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! read more

A nice, cozy, beautiful resort close to Yellowstone! Beautiful surroundings, nice and helpful staff. Fishing is tremendous in the area. Just ask. There are no Hyatts or Hiltons in the area so those looking for city or nightlife will not find it here...just peaceful forest and lots of wildlife. Go to relax, fish, take pics, and go enjoy Yellowstone so close by. We visit the park but also spend time around Island Park taking advantage of the fishing. If you are a fly fisherman then you know this is one of those "bucket list" areas with Henry's etc so close. Especially if you can go offseason (after Labor Day) a little bit, better deals, a personal touch, and more time on the water...ooh and more willing big fish getting fat for winter! Wow what a disappointment, do not be fooled by the online pics, they were obviously taken several years ago before this place went down hill. The RV spots are very close together we were unable to put a rug in front of our door because it would have been under the slide of the RV next to us. Not worth the money. We paid for a Lakeview site however because of the sardine set-up of this park our only view is the sewer connection and slide. There is no room to set up a table or portable fire pit. There is a big garbage mess right in the middle. The only reason I even gave this place one star is because the girl that checked us in was very nice. Such a disappointment considering there are so many other nice places you could camp while in the Island Park area. read more

The Wild Rose Resort is just a sleezebag motel. It used to be on Yelp with awful reviews and was 'conveniently' removed so I have re-added it to let the world know the pitiful truth of this disgusting joke of a "resort". It is an overpriced crap hole which is infested with bed bugs...yes, BED BUGS!! Stay away at all costs - it was my only option when driving across the country to say a last goodbye to my dying brother. It haunts me that I am still dealing with the bed bug aftermath in the face of such personal tragedy. Be forewarned...nobody deserves this! read more

Simply beautiful. Right next to a lake and a forest, and just full of nature. Super friendly staff, cute little clean rooms that were woodsy and fun, and lots around to see and do. Hiking, boating, fishing, swimming, exploring, and it's super close to Yellowstone National Park as well which is super convenient! And it's cheaper than most places in West Yellowstone too. We are camping in our RV at Jared's as a base while we take our Jeep and explore Yellowstone. Jared's is just 20 minutes to the West entrance of Yellowstone. The owner is such a nice guy! Our site is next to the smaller cabins. We were leveled in just a few minutes. Hooked up to water, electric and sewer in just a few minutes more. Nice grassy site. Mowed nicely. We also had a picnic table and a fantastic view of giant rolling hills across the street. With a babbling brook right behind us to lull us to sleep at night. It is right on a lake with a small sandy beach that is perfect for the doggies. Very dog friendly park. Two laundry rooms. Each with one washer and one dryer with couches and vending machines. A small store and a restaurant. An older play area for the kids. Great value at just $65 per night! It is an older park but they have kept it up nicely. If we come back to Yellowstone, we will definitely be staying here! read more

Wild Rose Ranch is located on one of the best fishing lake's ever with fantastic views. It is literally 15 minutes from the town of West Yellowstone and conveniently located to Yellowstone National Park. So you have the best of both. The accommodations need improvements. It appears that the management is trying to upgrade cabins and rooms. I sincerely hope the owners work on even minor upgrades like room chairs and lamp shades, repair the window blinds, newer towels and provide coffee, soap/shampoo, paper towels with a few kitchen utensils. We enjoyed ourselves but luckily we brought everything we needed. The room was very clean and the office staff were extremely nice. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Better and safer to just sleep in your car on the side of the highway. I have never in my life stayed at such a horrible place. We reserved 2 rooms and 1 motor home space for 5 days. There were 6 of us. It is the ONLY resort on Henry's Lake. It's mid-July just outside Yellowstone park and we had to stay the entire 5 days because everything else is booked for many miles around. Let's start with check-in. For our room, they could only give us 1 key because they "couldn't find" the other one. They did later call us and said they found it. The rooms are very expensive. The door locks are old key locks, and there's enough space around the doors that you can see the hallway lights and the shadows of people walking to their rooms. The room door/lock is in no way secure and safe. The carpeting in the rooms is so old and dirty that I didn't even want to step on it with my shoes on. The beds are extremely old, sagging mattresses, and filthy. Sheets, we think, were fairly clean. Everything about the tiny bathroom was so old that the floors would never come clean at this point, with all the years of dirt and grime build-up at every corner and wall join. My nephew flushed the toilet in his room and it broke. When their room flooded from yet another source, they had to call management to fix it. Back to the beds...the bedspreads are decades old and filthy. We had 2 beds in our room and one spread had a large rip and the batting was coming out. There is NO insulation or sound barrier between rooms or between the floors. We actually heard conversations of other people. The room above us must have been quite large because two different large apparently multi-family groups stayed up there, with little kids who ran around past midnight in both groups. Our kitchenette ceiling fixture actually rattled because of the running and heavy steps overhead. The appliances in the kitchenette, for which we paid extra, didn't work. We made the mistake of turning on the oven once and within minutes the entire stove/oven was white hot...outside. We rushed to turn it off because it surely would cause a fire, as it's set into old dry wood counters. One would definitely have gotten a bad burn had they touched the outside, when the oven was only set for 350 degrees. The sink drains, both kitchen and bathroom, eminated a sewer-type smell. The bathroom sink is actually out in the bedroom. They do have old washers and dryers, coin operated, in the hallway where all the room doors are located. A sign says no laundry is to be done after 10:30pm. That's a joke...they don't do a thing about it if a guest complains of the noise. So in addition to all the people noise, we have laundry noise very late at night. The topper for us was when, at 10:37pm on our last night there, one of the resort employees actually used his pass key and walked right into our room! And he wasn't alone. He didn't knock, announce himself or anything at all...he just walked right in. My husband was just jumping out of bed at the realization that someone was breaking into our room, and I was standing there in my nightgown about 4 feet away from the door when they burst in. Really! What with the noise from upstairs, the laundry going and the employee breaking in, my husband was so furious, he did something I haven't ever seen him do in 51 years together. He got dressed, grabbed a flashlight, and walked in the dark to the office which was 2 buildings away from us. He pushed the night buzzer and waited a considerable time. When the on-call person answered, he was not at all happy that my husband demanded that he come take care of this mess. The guy, who told us he is one of the owners, didn't do a thing. When the person came to retrieve his laundry, the owner mildly reminded them that 10:30 was the cut-off time for the machine noise. It was by now after 11pm. The owner never did go upstairs to ask the people to tone it down, and they continued making an amazing amount of noise until after 1:00 in the morning. As for the employee who broke in, the owner mumbled something about looking into it, but you could tell he didn't give a crap. In fact, the owner left no doubt that he was very angry at us for complaining about anything. OMG. As I sat quietly out on the small patio outside our building the next morning at 6:00 (cooling off because it was swelterig hot in our room), I listened for almost an hour as guest after guest came out with their luggage and complaining bitterly to each other about the noise from upstairs and from the laundry the night before. We were by no means the only very unhappy people. If you value your safety and that of your possessions, don't ever go to this place. Especially don't go there if you actually expect to sleep at night. We never managed more than 3-4 hours of sleep on any of our 5 nights. Oh yeah...and we did have odd bugs crawling on the floor...I killed 3 of them. Filthy place. read more
