Service is not super friendly (sad but typical for Chinatown) but they are very fast to get food out. Jasmine has been a staple in Bellaire for almost as long as I can remember. I'll admit that before this past Tuesday, the last time I ate here was over 5 years ago. I was happy to walk in and see them relatively busy though for dinner on a weekday. If you're coming to eat here, pretty much everyone orders their grilled fish, the beef wrapped in betel leaves, or the lemongrass marinated protein of your choice to wrap in spring roll wrappers. These specialties of theirs are always consistently tasty. The beef wrapped in betel leaves is probably my favorite. Ambiance wise, this spot is casual. It's a popular spot because they handle big parties relatively easy. You have to order family style here so you can try everything. Next time, it won't be 5 years till I come back. Enjoy! read more

For her unofficial yelp event. Let's just say she tried her best because this place did not exceed my expectations. The service was nonexistent & they seemed over us the first 30 minutes we were there. I think they were understaffed and overworked. We have to wave a staff to come help us otherwise they'll ignore us. Only one person was friendly. Our table decided to order their 7 courses of beef & it comes with rice paper so you can make your own spring rolls. The only one that I enjoyed was the ground beef wrapped in Hawaiian leaf. The rest were chewy and didn't taste fresh. The sad part was their alphabet soup tasted the best. The soup was a little bland but I added their chili paste & stinky sauce to give it more flavor. For $35 per person I did not get my moneys worth, I think I would've done better if I just ordered my own food, I was going to order their canh chua tom and ca kho. Nut allergy warning: A lot of nuts. Tooons of nuts. They are not great about allergies. Buyer beware. The famous 7-course beef, by default, includes four dishes with nuts. One is not substitutable as it's stuffed in meatballs. I gambled and took one bite of the meat furthest from the meatball, and wasn't willing to do any more. Other dishes with vegetables or seafood are generally okay. We were here with a reservation for about 20 people and took three tables. Overall, the service was very slow (took over an hour to get our food?) but I don't particularly blame them as it was packed for Lunar New Year. My aunt brought me as a plus one to her Christmas party dinner at Jasmine Asian cuisine in Houston. I got a free drink ticket which I used for Chang muối which is like a salty lemonade. We first started with the soup mang cua, which is one of my favorites. It's a crab and asparagus soup, a viet party classic. The version here was a bit bland though. Next was the Peking duck which was actually very good here. The meat was perfectly tender and fatty with crispy skin. I liked their sauce they made for it too. We then got chicken with ginger scallion sauce, the chicken was very dry though. They brought out some mushroom and bokchoy dish but I really liked it. The sauce went very well with rice as well. The lobster here was actually really good. I really liked the black pepper sauce that they cooked it in. I liked the fried fish pieces and salt and pepper squid as well. The batter was good but they could've coated the squid better. I barely ate any of the seafood on the birds nest or the snow peas. Overall a fair share of hit and misses, but it is a set menu so I think I would've enjoyed it more if it was a regular dinner read more

I came here with my family a long time ago and had forgotten what it was like, until we went recently this past weekend for my mom's birthday. We did the 7-course beef order, and it was just enough (if anything, might be more than enough) for 4 people! We ordered 2 portions of it (each portion is for 2 people). It was very filling, and we were so satisfied. Everything that came out was so delicious. I love the bo la lot. Service was great too when we went. Vermicelli noodles are an extra cost though. They also did give us a generous amount of rice paper, and I'm grateful for it. The inside is very spacious with plenty of seating. However, I can see this place getting packed during peak times. My family and I went during a slightly off hour, which was around 5:30 PM on Saturday. When we went, we were able to find parking in the lot easily. They also seemed to be setting up for live music for later in the night too, which would be cool to enjoy. We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1 pm. This massive restaurant was completely empty! We almost turned around but decided to give this place a try anyway. We were glad we did. We ordered from the lunch special menu, which was available daily (including weekends!) from 11am to 3pm. This menu covers a broad range of items, including Vietnamese and Chinese food. Numerous entrees are priced at a low $7.95. We ordered two items from this menu at this low price - a bowl of pho and a grouper fillet. Service was friendly and attentive. The interior of the restaurant is very nice. There's even a stage with a grand piano on it. When the food came, we were shocked. Portions were huge, and they tasted great! How can it be? I came here with my family for a birthday dinner and unfortunately didn't get to take a picture of the baked fish we got to share because it was too good to wait for the camera to eat but I really enjoyed coming here! We ordered fried pork intestines and soft shell crab to share between 5 people first while we waited for the fish to come out. These were very good and different than other places I've been to. I enjoyed the soft shell crab! This is great to have large groups or even small groups come to eat together. They play live music thurs-sunday nights dinner service and that's always enjoyable especially if they sing a song that's familiar and brings back old memories! I always come here for their seven beef course (bo bay mon). It's located in the plaza near H-Mart with plenty of parking. This place is also great for large parties given how spacious it is inside. The service is fairly quick and attentive. They have a wide variety on their menu but the seven beef course is the best. Of course, it comes with 7 different types of beef with rice papers and veggies. They also give you the alphabet beef soup. I like to order a side of banh hoi as well to wrap with the beef and veggies. The portion is big enough to feed 2-3 people. This review at Jasmine Asian Restaurant is for my dissatisfied experience today after coordinated a meeting with a nonprofit organization. This event was planned over a month ago. There was no mention of other parties at the same time. They divided each party by a sheer. Okay, if they were quieter, I would have different feedback. But they LOUD. They sang karaoke SCREAMING. While we were there using the PA system just can't compete. We even asked the restaurant to tell them to turn the volume down a notch. But NO. They ignored the request. What did the restaurant do? NOTHING. I don't care how tasty the food was at that point. This was very unacceptable as paying customers. Can you just be a little considered and a little passion for the smaller group on the side? I attended the fundraiser event for Houston Rodeo before. They reserved the entire restaurant. At that time, my only complaint was the food was really mediocre. We just held a celebration at Jasmine for about 80 people. They did a wonderful job, Even though we did not have the whole restaurant to ourselves it still feels private. We were placed in the center and the seat covers created a formal feel. The food was hot and delicious with quick and efficient service . They have a small live band on weekends which our guests enjoyed the opportunities to be singers for the night. Overall we are very happy with the experience. Two years ago, I would've given Jasmine a solid 4 stars. Now, it's barely hanging on as a two star restaurant, at best. The last time I came here was before Covid, usually every two weeks on a Friday night. The restaurant was always filled with people, enjoying great food, fantastic friends and live entertainment. Now, this place is an empty shell of what it use to be. We came here on a Thursday before Christmas Eve during lunch. Arriving at 11:30, we were greeted by a completely empty restaurant. We were brought to a table and before we could sit, we had to wipe down the chairs due to food particles left on it. That, unfortunately, was just the beginning of the downfall. We ordered two orders of the 7 beef course meal and an order of egg rolls. The beef courses varied, and overall had good flavor. But we need to talk about the size of the dishes. They shrank. Not by a little, by like half. The beef wrapped in banana leaf is now the size of a child's thumb. The meatballs are now it's the size of a gum ball. And the egg rolls are now the size of of lipstick. Also, the food was all lukewarm at best. Super disappointing. But that wasn't where the disappointment stopped. The service was 50 shades of terrible. There were two waiters, a male and female. The male came out pushing a cart with our order on it. When he placed our dishes on the table, he noticed an egg roll had fallen off the plate and onto the cart. He proceeded to pick up the egg roll with his bare hands and place it back on the plate, and set it down on the table. He was hoping we didn't notice. I asked for another egg roll and he used his bare hands once again to take that one off our plate, and took it into the kitchen. 15 minutes later, he brought us a single egg roll back. Especially during Covid times, why would anyone think it's okay to use their hands to touch someone else's food that fell onto the cart, and put it on our plates?? That's just gross. Halfway through our meal, we asked for more vegetables. After 10 minutes, no one had brought out the extra veggies. We finally had to ask another waitstaff to bring us some and she did so immediately. I use to recommend this place to people, but I will not be doing that again. The place is dirty, the food is now overpriced (the 7 beef course went from $18 to $25) and the service is awful and almost nonexistent. read more

I am extremely sad to have to leave a 2 star review for an eatablishment that used to be one of my top five in Houston. My pre-pandemic used to visit Jasmine once or twice a week. Usually I would go on a Friday for dinner and typically order the 7 course beef meal with ran for $16.95. I would add an order of egg rolls because they had some of the best egg rolls I have eaten. The atmosphere was fantastic with live entertainment. The service was good and the food excellent. I loved this place. Fast forward two years and everything has changed. Stopped by for lunch and I was shocked to see how different everything was. Ordered two portions of the 7 course beef meal and one order of egg rolls. EVERYTHING had shrunk. The pieces of meat and egg rolls were half the size they used to be but at an increased price! 7 course beef: - Thin slices of beef cooked in boiling vinegar: meat is thinly sliced and the vinegar gives a slightly sour kick. - Banana leaf wrapped beef: well seasoned and pairs well with the veggies. Half the size from two years ago. - Meatballs: - little mealy, great flavor. Half the size from two years ago. - Large meatball with shrimp chip: beef mixed with peanuts, vermicelli, and peppercorn. Not my favorite but pairing the meat ball with the shrimp treat is pretty good. These looked about the same size as two years ago. - Salad: a mix of beef, red onion, carrots, and lettuce swimming in fish sauce. Delicious. - Alphabet soup: minced beef cooked with alphabet noodles. This dish used to come out at tbe end of the meal and drinking a hot bowl of soup was a great way to cap off a good meal. Now, the soup comes out with everything else and is cold by the time you get to it. Egg rolls were good but way too small. Six egg rolls, each the size of a small finger for $9.50. While the filling is good, they have certainly skimped out. Half of the egg roll is just the wrapping instead of filling. Service was not good. The server brought out our food on a cart. When he was transferring the plate of egg rolls, one rolled of onto the tray and he just picked it up and placed it back on. This action pre-covid would already be awful. But now? Appalling! Whne we asked for another tray of veggies, the waitress basically ignored us. After 10 minutes, we had to ask someone else. There were five tables total. Service was a joke. I visited Jasmine Asian Cruisine after visiting the juice bar next door, I thought Jasmine Asian Cruisine knew Yelp Elite's food fatty's would be in the area. I asked my waitress if she knew anything about Yelp Elite's and I'm guessing she didn't understand me idk whatever. To make this review go faster, I was not impressed by the restaurant. Underneath the table I sat at was dirty, I had a view of another dirty table plus a dirty table further up. Some older lady sat a couple at a table she used the menu to fan away crumbs off the table before sitting them down. As I was walking out the door yet another dirty table, I spent about 30 minutes in the restaurant and tables were left dirty. What does the kitchen look like?? Ca 7 mon - 7 courses of fish. Not beef. FISH. I came in for the first time while visiting Houston recently at the recommendation of my brother who raved about the dish. Although we have similar tastes, I also ordered an order of marinated beef in case I didn't like it. I'm going to skip the beef next time, not because it tasted bad, but because I'd rather focus on the fish dishes! So sure, we've heard and eaten Bo 7 mon (7 courses of beef) but have you had the fish version?? If you've never had the fish or beef version, it's basically 7 various dishes made with the either protein that you roll and eat as a spring roll, with the exception of the last course which is a soup. It is served with an assortment of pickled veggies, greens, herbs and dipping sauce. The soup is rice porridge/congee. I never thought I would rave about a fish eggroll, but that was one of the best things I had there. Sounds weird but it seriously was so good. The filling is just like your typical Vietnamese eggroll but made with ground fish. It was also my first time having fish rice porridge and I found it delicious. At first sight it looked bland but turned out to be a lightly flavored and pleasant ending to the meal. Why it's not a five star experience? The service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress took our order, brought it out, and disappeared. She never refilled my water and brought out the rice porridge shortly after everything else so it was cold by the time I got to it. I had to go up to the counter to pay because I couldn't find her. Even the guy was like, where's your waitress. The ladies restroom was not maintained and mind you I came in 30 mins after opening. There was no air conditioning in that area so yeah...I'm glad I went after I was done eating. Despite that, I would still recommend coming in to try the Ca 7 mon. The pricing was not bad to me and everything was delicious and well worth it. I left feeling satisfied but not weighed down. I'll have to try the grilled catfish the next time I come. The fish was not fishy which is a plus. This dish I would recommend from this restaurant. The shrimp and jelly fish "Gio" was a disappointment. There was hardly any jelly fish in it and the flavors were bland and off. The vegetables were not properly pickled and sour. There was not a balance of sour, sweet, and saltiness. The fish sauced was poured into the salad and served that way. There was two shrimp chips only which is not a traditional way of serving. Usually there's more chips. This dish I do not recommend. Out of the 3 dishes, the fried salt and pepper squid was by far the worst. The dish was super greasy/oily and you can not taste the squid. There was a lot of batter covering the squid and when we peeled the batter off to try the squid... the squid did not taste like squid. I was born and raised where our family had shrimp boats so I know how squid is suppose to taste.. this dish should not be served to anyone. Also, I think the salt and pepper mix had msg in it because both my sister and I had horrible headaches after eating it. My mom did not eat this dish and she did not get a headache. In our family we are all sensitive towards msg.
