I rarely come to Delaware but did stop here for dinner. I had Chinese, she had Japanese. I'm typically leery of a place that offers both, especially when it's in a shopping complex, but I have to say, my General Tso's and her sushi were very good. The service was prompt, it wasn't overly expensive and the food tasted fresh. Also, this is a pretty big place so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting in without a reservation. Didn't get a chance to enjoy the bar but it looked pretty cool. I recommend it if you're in the area. read more

Wow, I never waited so long for my sushi to be made in my entire life, 45 minutes! The place wasn't even that crowded, they seemed well staffed, and the food was just mediocre too! The waiter seemed apologetic in a forced way but that should not have happened. Jasmine Restaurant is all about presentation. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. The food is arranged on your plate in an artistic manner. Also, I think Asian Fusion well defines this place, my boyfriend's parents ordered Chinese dishes and absolutely loved them. I agree with Eric M., the specialty rolls are not very special (I even think they were a bit overpriced) even though the menu makes them sound drool-worthy. Large sized private dining room. However, it is only a heavy metal bead curtain that separates you from the bar. This makes for a division in order for a party, but not really conducive if you were to have a meeting due or similar due to the noise factor. On a prix fixe menu the sampling may have been a bit limited but I think I got a pretty good idea. i had eaten here awhile ago, pre-Yelp days and had a similar opinion too. Went with the mango chicken after a few appetizers and a salad. The appetizers were good. The fried dumpling were juicy with a crisp shell. Flavor was rich and delicious. Ginger soy dipping sauce was a good addition enriching the dish. Spring rolls were average. Chicken satay was bland and not well grilled, lacked a good crust and maillard reaction. The salad was a prepackaged affair with what seemed like a bottled ginger dressing. Good dressing but easily available at your local asian grocery from the taste and consistency. The mango chicken was not the best I have had. The chicken, like the satay, was bland and soft. Not a good maillard reaction, not a good component to a lackluster dish. Cashews were well roasted with a crisp complex flavor and not burned at all. The mango was fresh and juicy, but more of an after-thought then an integral component. Rice was average, cooked okay without major hard or soft spots, but not great. Service was slow for our large group. It was awhile before my drinks were refilled and my dinner order was erroneously taken. This lead to my entree coming up when most of my co-partiers were almost done with their meal. After dinner we stayed for a bit at the bar. Nice set up, friendly bartender with fast and efficient service. The area is small with couches at the perimeter for small groups to hang out. All in all I think I would return to Jasmine but more so for the bar and appetizers with drinks. Not sure I would plan to return for dinner or lunch though. read more

I really like Jasmine a lot, because they can pull off a variety of Asian cuisine plus sushi, and do it all very well. Yes, there are better standalone Chinese, Japanese, etc..spots...and Jasmine can hit the mark on several on one menu. My friend recommended this restaurant to me. Tonight, I gave it a try with my family. Highly recommend: "Hot & Sour Soup" - I loved it. Very delicious! There was enoki mushroom in it. It'd be perfect to me if there was little more sesame oil in it. "Char-broiled Balsamic Teriyaki Steak" - Very Tasty! The best Teriyaki I've ever had. "Chinatown Roasted Duck" - Hot & crispy, not fat at all, big portion, reasonable price, I think it's much better than Chinatown's. "Pad Thai Noodles" - Very Tasty! I requested extra spicy. I've been here several times so far and while I thought it would be love, I'd say it's more like friends with potential. The menu is extensive and hard to choose from, but it is definitely on the price-inflated side. I guess you're paying extra for the trying to be swanky factor (but hey, swanky is nice). I do enjoy the sleek decor. Service can be sloowww even when it's not crowded. I thought the sushi was good (but again, expensive - and my picky self hates not being allowed to make substitutions). I very much liked the roasted duck with baby bok choy, which was delicious, nice and crispy, and not fatty. The chow fun was also very tasty, not groundbreaking or anything, but very yummy and enough to take home. Not someplace I'd go often, for sure, but I have enjoyed my meals here. Jasmine is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the area, so it's high time that I write a review of this place. Jasmine's food is best described as "pan-Asian" - it takes some of the best offerings of Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisines. The decor is kinda hip (particularly considering that the restaurant is located in a strip mall) and the food has never disappointed me. Jasmine has the feel of a place in Center City Philly, not North Wilmington. I seem to be drawn to entrees with lemon grass in them time and again. You can't go wrong with the beef or chicken, over noodles or rice. The bento boxes served at lunch are a great way to get a sampling of a variety of items. I'm also quite fond of the crispy crab wontons from the appetizer section of the menu. The menu is fairly extensive and I would venture to guess that most anyone could find something to his/her liking. If you're in the mood for something "Asian", but don't want to commit to Chinese, Thai or whatever, Jasmine is the perfect choice. read more

There is one waiter who has worked at this place forever who is the biggest jerk. He is aloof, ignores your table and acts like he could care less if you're hungry or happy with your meal. It has become a running joke between my wife and I, so much so that we actually enjoy seeing the "jerky waiter" guy. If you've been to Jasmine, you will know who I'm talking about. The food here is consistently above average. They can make the food pretty spicy upon request. Sweet potato roll and General Tso's chicken are among my favorites. Almost didn't go after reading the recent negative reviews, but we were hungry after our hike at Brandywine Creek Park and decided to try it. Glad we did. Had lunch. I got the lemon grass chicken with jalapenos and it was hot and tasty. My companion had chicken Pad Thai and requested that it be made spicy. It was not, but once she added some hot sauce, she said it was very good. Two guys came in, clearly regulars, and told me they have come here for lunch every Saturday for 6 years!! read more

I heard this is the place to go for Sushi so...with a grain of salt I kindly advise: - Happy Hour is limited to about 6 drinks and Sushi Rolls (select menu.) Drinks were mostly rum based. I'll try the $2 rolls (huge list) next time I'm there. - My duck in tamarind ginger sauce was good but the sauce was very thick and heavy, reminiscent of hoisin but sweeter ($19). Panaag Curry Beef my companion ordered was great - lots of zucchini. -Dim Sum - I could pass on the veggie dumplings -very strong 'green' flavor - and the shrimp. Pork were good. We've eaten at Jasmine four times. I'm no sushi fan, but I've tried two varieties of the "bento boxes" (which conveniently combine small entrees with various small side dishes), plus a couple of separate noodle-based entrees. The food has been uniformly good, though I'd stop short of excellent. Service was generally OK. On our last visit, though, after finishing our soup, we waited nearly half an hour for the main course, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Waaayy too long! If I could, I'd bump them down to three-and-a-half stars for that delay. read more

This place is phenomenal! I have been here multiple times, trying things from the kitchen platters to the sushi. This is the first place I tried mochi ice cream, and WOW. It's amazing and so good! I get it every time. If you haven't tried it, it's ice cream in a very thin dough. Extremely yummy. Today, I had the party A sushi platter and it was extremely fresh and well prepared. I split the platter with one other person and it was awesome 6 rolls from spicy yellowtail to California to spicy tuna with 8 pieces each and more than enough for us. We were stuffed. The platter was only 25 too! The gin and tonics are made well with just the right kick. One of my favorite restaurants for sure! read more

Jasmine gets a less than enthusiastic meh from me. It's probably my least favorite sushi place in the state .. which is odd because I love Saketumi down in Rehoboth which is the same owner. First ... worst service ever. Really. They (host and waitress) didn't 't even put in minimal effort to smile and it's a deal breaker. The host was a punk who sat us, and then disappeared with our menus. We sat there for at least 5 minutes twiddling our thumbs wondering where he went. The waitress we saw once when she took our order (she was grouchy) and then she never came back to check on us. I ran out of water early and wanted a refill, but that never happened. I had to flag her down to get our check, and it was as if I was inconveniencing her, even though we had been waiting a while. I went with my 4 yr old and we sat at the bar (as we do at random sushi places twice a month). So we're sitting there and the sushi chef offers me a complimentary salad, but not one to my daughter. As if she is not there. I've never experienced that before and had no good reason to explain it to her when she asked why she didn't get one. I always request no sesame seeds on all my sushi ... but this one came with sesame seeds. When I told them I ordered everything without, they weren't thrilled to have to redo it, and what a difference in the amount of fish from the wrong order to the corrected one. Noticeable difference. That's just not fair. And the food was just meh. I burped up fish taste all afternoon . .which is a big red flag. I will not go back here. read more

Sushi is awful. I can do just as good rolling my own at home. Food is also awful. I love miso soup, but here it tastes like the smell of dirty dish water. Ordered snapper. Had a pretty good experience here! The sushi rolls we ordered were delicious. My favorite was the spicy girl roll, which leans to the higher end price for sushi at $17, but it was definitely delicious. Most things are reasonably priced which is always nice with a sushi restaurant where prices can sometimes get out of hand. We went during happy hour but wanted to sit at a table so we weren't allowed to get happy hour deals. You MUST sit at the bar (the drink bar not the sushi bar) which I think is kind of silly because most people don't go to a sushi restaurant to drink. I ordered vanilla Mochi balls for dessert, which are my favorite, but was greatly disappointed when they came out. They either were old and had been in the freezer too long or thawed out and were frozen because they were inedible. Sad as this was something I was most looking forward to, we had to send them back. If you don't want people dining in then tell them up front that you are take out only!!! Just had a super awkward situation where my son and I went in asked if they were doing in house seating. The hostess said yes they were, and to grab a menu and have a seat. After about 15 minutes of no one even coming over to our table , we finally got the waitresses attention. She asked if we were ready to order. We said we were. She literally took our order from the other side of the restaurant!! I mean shouted at us from 30 feet asking us what we wanted! It was so bizarre! Then, after another 20 minutes the waitress comes over and places this large brown bag on our table. It was our meal, self assembly required. It was all in these individual packages. We finally looked at each other, put the food in the bag, and told the waitress we were leaving. ( which I think was their hope all along.) My point of this review is, if you really don't want in house dining, then don't have it! I wasted 45 minutes sitting in their restaurant waiting for take out. Jasmine used to be an old favorite of ours years ago and we decided to give it a try. This was absolutely a terrible experience. We got the Singapore noodles, a shrimp dish, and the general tso's chicken. The Singapore noodles had zero taste, and the general tso's chicken was surrounded by a thick layer of mushy coating with barely a hint of real chicken inside at all!! Completely disappointed. I have there for quite a few times. I like the food there. But, lat 2 times the experience was horrible in term of the behavior. They did not allow us to sit till all the people come and this is what I am first time experiencing in a restaurant in my life. I never faced this before. We were 6 people present there and 2 more were yet to come. They counted us and said let those 2 come and the attitude of the receptionist was horrible. Looks like I went to him home to eat free food. Even, we asked that guy that we can order for those 2 guys. Still he refused badly. My family, friends and I used to LOVE this place. The past few times we've experienced horrible service and will not be returning any time soon!! The hostess is extremely rude. She doesn't greet at the door, she waits for you to get her attention to acknowledge you, and she always has a sour look on her face. The 3 times we had bad service it's been with 3 separate waitstaff, the most recent time our 'server' was the extremely stretched thin bartender/manager (?!??!). We were a party of 7 with 5 adults and 2 kids, why would they assign someone who is trying to handle all of that other responsibility to our table?!?! We were there for about 3+ hours and it wasn't because we were having a good time!! It took them about 45 minutes to take our DRINK ORDER (I even walked up to the hostess after 25 mins and asked her to please send our waiter over) and the evening didn't get better from there.... I also emailed the restaurant via their website explaining to them what happened, hoping for an apology or explanation. It's been over 2 weeks at this point and I haven't heard anything back. Disappointed again. The food is amazing! Even after the first couple of bad experiences with service we came back for the food, but this third time really put us off. read more

.Whenever it rains Chris is off (lucky duck). After a trying morning and then realizing I didn't pack anything for lunch I remember the groupon I purchased a few weeks back. Lunch "date" sounded good to me. We arrived to a near empty restaurant but our reservation was for 11:45 and most people don't come until after 12. Since we both weren't that hungry we skipped the apps and decided on entrees. I was bummed that they didn't have the chenin blanc available ( I could have used that glass of wine) Chris -general tso chicken-he said the portion size was perfect for him and the sweet with the heat worked well together. He wasn't a fan of the peppers that they include but he was able easily pick them out. I opted for the basil shrimp. Spicy (due to the Asian basil) but very well seasoned with scallions, peppers , carrots and caramelized onions :) my only real complaint was the button mushrooms (as to which I am not a fan) the portion size is good for lunch and a steal at 8.95 (7.95 for chicken and beef entrees). We were in and out in under an hour and with the exception of the weird taste of the water and iced tea I would def come back. They have a pretty cool lounge type area close to the bar with plush couches and a TV. Good place to unwind have a few cocktails and watch the game read more

I used to I like coming to this place, but over last two years it has gotten progressively worse. The tables are chipped and need renovation or replacement, the chopsticks are the wooden fast-food type with splinters, the food is ok, but not great... It's sad to see this place going down and noticing the owner's ignorance towards keeping it fresh and somewhat up to a standard of a nice restaurant. It's more of a cheap place to get some sushi and/or rice dish (and if you're lucky they may actually not be out of brown rice!). Sorry, but if Im hungry for Japanese food I'll be choosing Mikimotos instead, unless a major change happens here. read more
