I was extremely tired yesterday morning from working all night and forcing myself to do laundry before I went to bed. My friend needed to use my computer and begged my other friend and I to go to this place with her before her flight to Honduras left. I kept saying no and just finally gave in. After parking far and having to go on a little trek due to the Maxwell Street Market, and she not knowing that there was a parking lot for the place, we arrive at Jason's. The place was huge, and I have to disagree with Amy W; Jason's is nothing like Panera or Cosi. When you walk in there are menus right at the door for you to grab and browse through. The manager as well as other employees asked us on more than one occasion if we needed any help deciding on something. After we decided, we walked up to the register where we were greeted by the very nice cashier. I ordered the Ciabatta Garden sandwich which, like all of their sandwiches, was easily modifiable. I was able to add onions, minus field greens but add spinach, and sub pepper jack for Asiago. After you order they give you a number to take to you table and place in a stand and they bring the food to your table once it's ready. This sandwich was extremely good, plus it was on whole wheat ciabatta bread with red and yellow peppers, cucumbers. Guacamole and balsamic vinaigrette. MMM... For my side I chose a bowl of steamed vegetables and this amazing tomato basil soup. I can't even lie this food was so good. The soup was so sweet and they added a bit of asiago cheese to it as well. Also to drink I had a Japanese Ito En Bottle Green Tea, which I love and only find these teas at certain places. One friend had a fruit plate with apples, strawberries, cantaloupe, grapes, and a scoop of tuna in the middle with a side of the tomato basil soup as well. She loved the soup too. The other had a Ruben with chips and fruit for the side. They both really loved their meals. The manager and employees came out to our table as well as other tables and asked how everything was and if we received exactly what we wanted, which we did! I was informed that they had free soft serve ice cream so I had to hit that up, I got one of their home made brownies and swirled the unlimited self serve ice cream right on top. This was it for me. The food and the dessert were just great, as well as the management and employees. Plus you can modify your meal anyway you like or grab the unlimited salad bar, or pasta or sandwich or anything else from their menu and choose from Fiji water and various other bottled or fountain drinks you like and enjoy free ice cream at the end. I've frequented Dominicks' for years and have never thought to stop at Jason's Deli in the adjacent plaza. To me, the imagery that comes to mind is cold cut sandwiches. Bleh! But au contraire, mon frere, I was pleasantly surprised. It was at the suggestion of another mom at my son's daycare that we take the boys to dinner. I shall add Jason and his Deli to my quick meal repertoire. It's a pretty spacious, no frills kinda place that is kid-friendly and you all can eat good food for cheap. Works for me. I had the portabello pasta w/grilled chicken and spinach. Would've sopped up every last bit in the big bowl had I had some bread. They have a healthy kids menu with more choices than the usual chicken fingers, which was nice. It includes a side item and a drink at a low cost. Let's not forget that there's free icecream--always! I don't know if that was organic too, but it was good stuff! I am certainly not a calorie counter nor do I use restraint when it comes to food, but I did notice that everything tasted fresh, a lot on the menu is organic and they give you the calorie/fat/sodium serving information. read more

This is my first 5-star review! Is Jason's Deli incredibly tasty food, on par with Alinea or Charlie Trotter's? Not that I've eaten at either. But anyhoo, no the food isn't high cuisine. But I tend to rate restaurants based on a taste:price proportion. And in that sense, Jason's Deli gets 5 stars from me. My receipt came out to $5.56. For that, I got a roast beef wrap with sauteed onions and red peppers and provolone with an au jus dipping sauce and pickle. Also, you get a choice of chips: regular, baked, or tortilla chips with salsa. But the best part... drumroll... FREE SOFT SERVE! I usually stop by McD's for their $1 soft serve. But here, I get a choice between vanilla, chocolate, and swirl. And it's not that crappy soft serve that comes out all icy and drippy. Add on plenty of free parking, lots of seating, and fast service, and you have a five star rating. I came in with a huge group, and we deluged them with orders. They were very professional and quick and managed to be friendly. There are plenty of options to eat, so I'll definitely be back to explore more choice. Best $5 I've spent in a while. read more

My like of this place was totally unexpected. I ordered a Mediterranean wrap/tortilla soup and my husband had the chicken salad wrap. I really appreciate the healthy eating menu, which is where we ordered from. Both wraps were really good; my husband's had pineapple mixed in which actually gave his wrap a good taste. My favorite aspect of the meal was that you can get fresh vegetables as a side! And these were no dried out, days old veggies; they were steamed and fresher than I've had at some expensive restaurants. Enjoyed the relatively comfortable atmosphere (plenty of booths!) and the free ice cream, although my husband thinks the ice cream is a negative as he "ruined" a perfectly healthy meal with TWO ice cream cones. This is my favorite Jason's Deli location because it's consistent each time we visit. Been to many other JD's and you can't really go wrong with anything at Jason's Deli, but the S. Canal spot always does it right. My favorite is the hot corned beef. Thinly sliced, fresh, and piled high. I always only adorn it with either mayo/mustard or both. Never seems to need much more than that. Salad bar is terrific too. Staff is always pleasant and fast. Plenty of seating. Place is always clean. They're in a strip mall with lots of parking, free parking in the city is always a bonus, just as good as the free ice cream. read more

WOW! I experienced Jason's Deli as a catered lunch and I must say I was nothing but impressed. Although there was a large volume and variety of food was delivered it was all fresh, hot and delicious. The portions were generous and I'm not going to lie...the variety of sandwiches caused me to have way too much for lunch that day... but it was worth it. I had never heard of Jason's Deli prior to this experience but I took a napkin that day so I wouldn't forget. I am delighted to find out there is one in Park Ridge near me... I will be headed there soon and I can only hope it's as good as this one is! bravo! read more

I am always lured in by the free soft serve and cake cones. FREE SOFT SERVE. Jason's offers up a ton of sandwiches/salads/etc and has a pretty decent salad bar should you find yourself in this area. Plenty of seating inside, and a big parking lot outside. However, the cashier set up confused me a little - there is a "carry out" cashier that is closest to the door, and the "eat in" cashier is further along. I may just be a newbie though. No WiFi (in case you were trying to get some work done in here over lunch while waiting on Kinko's), but you can definitely just spend that whole time eating the free (!) soft serve until you're ready to head out. read more

Jason's Deli is seriously, honestly and truly my lunchtime savior. With no real fresh lunch options around me (ok, there's Subway, but....yeah.) Jason's is a godsend. Here's why I love it so much: +Jason's is a good 10 minute drive from my job, so thankfully they deliver. However, their delivery fee is pretty hefty at $7! +Luckily, if you work at a school or other non-for-profit, Jason's waives the delivery fee! Just make sure to tell them ahead of time! +Also tell 'em if you're tax exempt - they do not charge you tax! Sweet! +If you order for a large group, they package the orders up in individual bags AND label what's in 'em! What a great idea! +The food is GOOD. Like, fresh ingredients, tasty combinations, LOTS to choose from. My coworkers and I have looked through that menu many times and still wrestle with what to order. +My favorite? Either the Ranchero Wrap or Chicken Panini! I always like getting fruit as my side, but the chips/chips and salsa are always good, too. +Build-your-own sandwich option. I had never heard of Jason's Deli yet if I think back on it I have seen it many times when I went in the area and truly didn't think much of it or ever wanted to go into this restaurant. Well, one Saturday afternoon after volunteering at an event for women my girl, her mom and I decided that we would go check out Jason's Deli, now this wasn't their first time here and they even warned me if it was as crowded like it normally is that we would have to go some place else. Well, luckily it was only semi-packed so we got the Spicy Shrimp Gumbo, the Chicken Tortilla soup as well as the unlimited salad bar which was only 7.50. The salad bar was filled with some great and fresh items; I just wish they had some different lunch meats as one of their selections. They did have some unusual selections like the potato salad that taste like a baked potato it was so good. They had different kinds of nuts like almonds, sunflower seeds and granola. 3 different kinds of greens(spinach, iceberg and mixed green). They had a wide variety items so you could make a different salad each time. They also had chocolate mouse and pudding both were great. The dressing was real good and it took everything in me not to just drizzle and pile it on it was so fresh. All in all the items are fresh just wish they had a selection of meats. The soup was so good but it was not unlimited I believe for a bowl it was 4.99 but don't quote me on that it was somewhere around there but not more than that and it was so good. I got the Spicy Shrimp Gumbo and boy did I want more and it truly wasn't that spicy but flavorful. They will allow you to have a sample of the soup before you commit to one. The Chicken Tortilla was also very good and after I tasted it I wish I had got that one instead of the one I ordered I just didn't want Tortillas in my soup...lol but then it wouldn't have been Chicken Tortilla soup. The staff was friendly and boy we had to keep tabs on our plate a few times because they were ready to take them away before we were done. It was a great causal atmosphere, people were on their laptops, reading books and actually have a genuine conversation. I was surprised I only pulled out my phone to check in to yelp before putting it in my purse and enjoying a lazy Saturday afternoon. The bathrooms were clean and had the those special toilets that has the up for 1 and down for 2...which I found interesting and very environmentally friendly. To top it off you get a free ice cream cone which I filled with chocolate fudge and then added the ice cream it was so good. I wish I had topped it off with some almonds....I know that would have made it even better. If you are not a cone person they also have small bowls. I have to admit, This summer My boyfriend and I have been regulars at this joint, and I'm about to tell you why! Although it's a small chain, I find it has most everything I want for a casual dining experience. Conveniently located, Take out or eat-in, a great salad bar, daily specials, and free frozen yogurt. Everyone can find something to like here. My favorite is the warm veggie wrap & California club. The best deal is the manager special, half a sandwich, side (chips or fresh fruit) and add on a side salad from the salad bar (we overload the bowl because with the side salad you are only allowed up to the bar once, however, this is enough for us). Then the free frozen yogurt cone to top it off! All for $8.00! It's a great way to splurge and save at the same time. Pros: great deals, plenty of healthy selections, never crowded/no wait, eco-friendly (dual flush toilets), salad bar, parking, free frozen yogurt! Cons: It's very cold here, temperature and atmosphere wise. It's somewhat dark also. I like the big industrial lights, but more lighting would warm the place up. The have a pretty nice salad bar, good vegetarian options, paninis, wraps and HUGE stuffed baked potatoes, among other types of yummy sandwiches. I usually stick with the garden sandwich...which comes with choice of chips, chips or salsa, chips or guacamole or fruit cup. I love this sandwich - so tasty. not sure if it's the fresh veggies, the cheese, the guacamole on the sandwich - something about it keeps me coming back - and I have not cheated on this sandwich....and did I mention the FREE ICE CREAM?? Good choice for lunch if you are in the area and are tired of the same old chains. OK, well Jason's has redeemed itself 2 ways: 1) They have fixed most of my nit-pick list - except the screaming SALAD BAR SIDE OF CHICKEN. I still think with all the computers here, they should be able to find a way to process this information without screaming it at me. Overall though, a much improved experience - even on the off shift. 2) Catering. We had a large group of people meet for a catered breakfast the day after my wedding. The catering staff was fantastic to work with and the food was great. Jason's remembers all of the little details down to the serving tongs and the plates and the cups for the OJ. Their sandwiches were good, they had a full salad bar (although I didn't get to try it), and their ice cream tasted like McDonald's soft serve (which is a good thing!). I got the turkey reuben on rye & decided I liked rye bread after eating this sandwich. :) The only negative about this place was the rude manager (who glared at us when we asked for the lettuce & tomato they forgot to put in my bf's sandwich & then came back with ONE small slice of tomato). Ok Jasons Deli - I've given so many chances and now I have to yelp about it. We order lunch at my office everyday. Jasons Deli has been the place chosen many times. The food is awesome and that is why we do like ordering from here. However - THE DELIVERY IS TERRIBLE. I don't get it. We have ordered over 15 times in the last few years and every single time it takes as long as 2 or more hours to get to us. Today we ordered....same results. We ordered at 11am for the food to arrive at 12. They say allow 30 minutes....so ok latest 12:30. It's 1pm as I write this and still nothing. When I call they can only tell me "They should be there any minute". Yeah that was 20 minutes ago lady. To rely on them for any kind of business lunch or pretty much ANY kind of lunch that you want to have at, say, lunch time - is pretty much super pointless. THEY WILL NEVER BE ON TIME. Now am I insane to keep ordering from them knowing their 2 year long track record of never being on time? Yes. Yes I am insane. Right now I have an entire office of hungry pissed off people. Sadly I think this will be our last Jasons Deli order too. Hey just some advice Jasons Deli....if you can't give people their food when you promise it...maybe you need another driver or two. We came here for a quick dinner before our movie. I had their salad bar and my husband ordered one of their royale sandwiches. I also ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup and he had a bowl of broccoli cheddar. We liked that they have so many different soup options. Pretty awesome we weren't restricted to two kinds of soups and a soup of the day. Anyway my salad bar was like any other salad bar. They have a good variations of greens and veggies to add. There were limited selection of the pasta salads that I normally find at salad bars, but it's alright. My husband's sandwich was okay too. We were out running errands one day and decided maybe to stop somewhere for a bite to eat. My husband was telling me that Jason's Deli was good....um, the last time he ate there was probably 8 years ago. We were thinking his taste buds have changed since then. They have a pretty big menu and on paper it looks good. My husband got a wrap and I got a chicken sandwich. The kids got mac and cheese. Like I said, the menu looks great on paper but the quality of food was sub par. Plain icky. Plus I am a germaphobe and granted we were eating there late in the day, dinnertime, the place seem real dirty. We will never go back there again...ick... read more

If you're ever in the South Loop area and in need of some lunch or dinner, PLEASE check it out! I discovered the place over a year ago when I started working in the neighborhood. The place is always clean and everyone that works there chip in in every way. I've actually had managers bring my food if the other employees are in the middle of taking orders so you're not waiting forever for your food. Really great customer service all around. All the food is fresh and made to order. Their sandwiches are always filled with the right amount of meat and condiments, never skimping on an item. The baked potatoes are NUCLEAR (it's pronounced NUCLEAR)! I always have a hard time finishing one and take the rest for a snack later in the day. The pasta dishes are always good and come four different ways. They give you a good amount but it's not enough to put you in a food coma. Aaaand they have a salad bar that's under $7! The cleanest one I've been to and they have hummus, pudding and cornbread on it! If you get it to go, they give you a very large container to put as much as you want in plus two smaller containers to use for dressing, apples, pudding, etc. P.S. - FREE SOFT-SERVE ICE CREAM!!!! First time I went here I ordered a Reuben and it was amazing. I was craving it again today so I decided to head over here and grab another one. This one was good as well, but unfortunately it gave me food poisoning. My stomach was feeling queasy all day after I ate it until I finally puked it all out (sorry for the unappetizing image). I have actually been to this Jason's Deli on several occasions, but finally got around to writing a review. I am usually not a fan of delis because I figure that if I want a sandwich, I will make one at home. There's no need for me to go out and pay a ton of money eating sandwiches all the time. I prefer hot meals, especially dishes that I cannot cook myself, if I am going to go to a restaurant. Well, I was dragged here for lunch by one of my work buddies the first time I went. I decided to try the California Club sandwich. It is a crossaint with turkey, avocado, cheese, mayo, lettuce and tomato, and bacon. I have to admit it was heavenly!!! Even for a sandwich!! The creaminess of the mayo and avocado made the sandwich. Then, throw in some bacon and serve it on a buttery, flaky croissant? DELICIOUS!!! I am glad she dragged me there. Also, not only was I pleasantly surprised by how good the sandwich was, but if you do a survey (directions listed on your receipt), then you get a free cookie. And the cookies are DELICIOUS as well. What a way to end a meal........with a free cookie!!! That was my meal of choice for a long time at Jason's, but yesterday I decided to finally try one of their salads. I was going out for lunch, in search of a salad, and my boss asked me to pick one up for her too. So, I headed to Jason's Deli. I ordered the Chef salad, which came with ham, turkey, two kinds of cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, olives,and ranch dressing. I pretty much inhaled it. It was very good, and it was a very good sized portion too. Usually salads don't fill me up as a meal, but since this one had so much yummy goodness a/k/a protein (and fat too) I was satisfied with a salad for a meal. I got the new chicken club salad for my boss, which had chicken, avocado, tomato, cheese, and bacon, with ranch dressing. She loved the salad so much she announced it on the speaker system in the office!! One thing about Jason's Deli is that it gets extremely crowded during the lunch rush. I once had a complaint and asked to speak to Jason. I was told there was no Jason that worked there. I replied, "you've got to be kidding me, isn't this his deli." I'm hilarious.. Great place to grab a quick meal. Especially when you're with people that can't decide what they want. Great sandwiches, salads, and even pasta. Ordered delivery for a group of us at work. Online ordering is easy. All the options and special notes are available to enter (no pickle, light mayo etc etc) so that was nice. The deli called me after i ordered online to ask a question about the order. Very friendly on the phone. I had the chicken club salad and it was just eh. The avocado was brown and sparse. The whole salad just didn't have much flavor. Another coworker had the taco salad and said the chicken chili was great and made the salad. The general consensus from the group was the food was just "okay." The store is super clean and the salad bar has fresh veggies--even close to closing time at 9pm. Lots to choose from on the menu. The only thing I did not like was the customer service. Latina cashier w/long reddish hair was not very receptive when I asked about the specials. She kept rudely telling us our total when we were trying to add more items. I've been watching Jason's Deli under construction for some time now so I'm so happy it's open. I grew up in Dallas and that's where these got started. It's just nice to have a reminder of home every now and then, plus it takes me back to high school because I had several friends work at various Jason's Deli's. This Jason's Deli just opened up last Monday and it's still looking brand new. Nothing was out of order and the food looked super fresh. It's definitely a lot nicer than the one I used to go to growing up and I'm not saying that one was dirty, but this one is just brand new, sort of like a new car. Anyhow the service was great, everyone in there had a smile on their face and was more than willing to help us. We ordered a sandwich and a wrap. They were both very good. I'm a big fan of their potatoes. They have a Texas Spud which has BBQ beef and cheese and butter, you can't really go wrong. Next time I go back I'll be getting that. Jason's Deli also has a really nice salad bar and you can't usually go wrong with those. But the absolute best part about Jason's Deli is that when you're done or before you go if you get to go, you can get soft serve ice cream. It's free to all patrons of Jason's Deli and you can get it in a cone or a bowl. You make it so it's your choice about how big or small you make the ice cream. It's awesome. read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars because of the crappy service I got. I came in around 11 a.m. and the place was empty. I placed an order to go and waited roughly 35 minutes for my sandwich. That is just unacceptable, especially when there aren't a lot of people there. Also, the layout is a bit confusing and the menu isn't readily apparent. I would recommend Panera, Jimmy John's and Potbelly over this place. read more
