I love the Jason's Deli off of 119th & Metcalf. You would think the same standards would be consistent through all locations, but this one was not the same. I always get the tuna melt with soup and potato chips. 1. Tuna tasted like they just got it from a can and the cheese wasn't melted at all 2. Since the cheese didn't melt it was very chewy 3. The cashier was talking to several others when we were checking out and didn't know what order went with who, etc. Usually their tuna is creamy and has a lot of egg and mayo in it. But the tuna I received here tasted like they opened a can, barely mixed anything else in it, and slapped it on some bread with half melted cheese. Ho hum. Don't get me wrong, I've never been a big fan of Jason's, but I do come occasionally...like once every couple of years ;) My wife and I decided, after being sick for several days and barely eating anything, that we would pig out a bit. So we got a "plain potato", and a corned beef sandwich. The "plain potato", of course bigger than five potatoes combined should be, is far from plain. It's like American in a nutshell - "plain" = cheese, a whole pigs worth of bacon, butter, and green onion. We got the corned beef with swiss cheese, spicy mustard (which wasn't spicy at all), and on a so-so rye bread. The corned beef itself was, of course, quite salty, but otherwise didn't have a ton of flavor. So, the meal was...meh. I can wait a couple of years to go back. read more

We had dinner here Tuesday evening. My husband had the salad bar and sandwich combo. For his sandwich, he chose turkey on wheat toast. He enjoyed the sandwich, but said the salad bar was better. I thought I was ordering the salad bar and soup combo, but ended up with the all you can eat salad bar and a cup of soup -- wondered why the bill was so high. I had the Chicken Pot Pie soup -- don't waste your money or the calories. The salad bar was great. Like most Jason's, they have a great variety and the salad bar is kept clean. Jason's Deli is one of my favorite sandwich shops. I honestly don't see why anyone would every go to Subway or even Panera. Located just right off the interstate next to Bass Pro Shop is one of my favorite places. The sandwiches are always overflowing with toppings. I love the grilled chicken with avocado. They also have fantastic soups and loaded potatoes. You gotta try the southwest chicken chili. Its a red chili with huge chunks of chicken. goes great with the cornbread they have at the salad bar. Now for the loaded potatoes, i really only have had one, its the bbq potato. A huge potato split in half and piled high with sliced bbq and sauce. OMG its fantastic. Now my favorite part about Jason's Deli is the salad bar. I'm tryng to have salad once a day and this place delivers. The Bar is always fresh and has a great variety. But my favorite part is that they have roasted red pepper hummus on the bar! Yes hummus, probably one of my favorite foods of all times. And when your all done, there if a frozen ice cream machine to make you own cone before you head out. With such variety and flavor, its a go to place. read more

Really, why would anyone go to Subway or any other sandwich shop? OK, $5 footlongs, I get it. But for a little bit more, you get loads of meat!! Man, this place is awesome with their portions! It's like going to Gates and ordering a Combo and a Half, but at 60% of the price. OK, fine that's an apples to oranges comparison, but you know what I mean about portions. I always come to this location. And even though I had a terrible experience, I plan to try to come back. I usually order Jasons Deli about twice a week for myself or others within the company. Last week I ordered a tuna wrap. (My usual) When I returned to the office, I realized that it was extremley watery. I spoke with a manager on the phone about this issue. The manager I spoke with apologized and asked me to come back so that she could fix it. I was not able to do so because my lunch hour that day was only for 30 mins. She wanted to send me a gift card and I told her I just needed the meal replaced and I would come up after work. The manager insisted that she send me a gift card. I finally had to inform her I am a little weird with giving out my address. I told her I would address it in person the next time I came. Of course I went back and spoke with a manager by the name of Kris.(I believe) (She stated that she was not the person who I spoke with and it was Lisa) I have only really after seen and spoke with and to the two gentleman who are managers at this company and they are always so polite. Somewhat of a Long story short: Kris stated that Lisa was not in and she said "Oh well the tuna sometimes does that" I said okay and said I would wait for her or Lisa to follow up with me since she seemed busy with other customers. Today, I came in for lunch. I asked her where we stood with figuring out why no one followed up with me. I didn't care about getting another sandwich. At this point it was about the communication and customer service. She looked at me and said "We usually try to handle this on the same day" And I said well I informed you the first time about what happened. She looked to her right and then glared and said "Whatever, I will just take care of it"" I said "No, I will pay for it" She went back and forth with me in from of an employee by the name of Dariush. (I only know this because of my receipt.) She seemed confused. I realized today that Jasons Deli had what appeared to be their District Managers present. I wanted to say something but I figured, its not worth it. Or was it? I have had other people from my company state they have had issues with a "blonde" manager or the manager who never smiles. I just think that maybe the customer service could have been better on the management end. I will say that if Lisa is the manager who is brunette, she has NEVER once been rude or frowned when we have come in. One day she was eating and she got up on her lunch break to attempt to assist but I told her I could wait until someone was able to help me. All in all, I am just disappointed. Not sure if they will care or take any action or if anyone else has had the same issue. But I was tired of keeping quite. read more

Ordered the turkey muffaletta today... what is described in the menu is not even close to what you get. If you enjoy a sandwich with little meat, one glob of cheese stick to the top bun and a over abundance of bread and diced olives... then enjoy. Great place to take out of town friends or if you're just passing through. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options, so everyone can find something to eat. The parking lot and entry situation is quite confusing, but once you work it out, you'll be fine. Whenever we go at lunchtime the place is super crowded and some of the tables are really close together, so it's a little bit of a maze trying to find a place to sit. The tables are always promptly cleaned, so it's not a matter of the staff keeping things tidy, there's just a lot of people sometimes. read more

Yelping up this Jason's with a solid review. Good sandwiches, soup, salad bar. Seems much fresher than typical fast casual (or Panera). Good pastrami especially for chain. Club and brisket are always solid. Can sub for baked chips. This location has always been dependable and pretty quick when they have larger crowds. I got the 1/2 sandwhich and a salad. If you get a soup its in a small cup... So you get more with the salad and its even better for you!! Instead of buying a drink.. Just say water cup.. The cups are over by the fountain drinks and they are a dark red.. So they won't even be able to tell whats in it.. Plus they really don't care.. I'm not really to fond of how confusing the menu is. Enjoyed this option for lunch a couple of days this week while travelling to Olathe for business. I opted both days for the Spinach Veggie wrap - a good sandwich with a tomato dipping sauce, and light on the calories. I work nearby and visit this Jason's Deli at least twice each week for lunch. There are so many lunch choices which makes it a great choice for a group of people! Everything I've ever ordered is fantastic. The salad bar is fresh, kept clean and ingredient bowls are always full. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My co-workers and I especially appreciate Sally, who is always greeting us at the register. She is quick, efficient, knowledgeable and genuine. She remembers us and greets us as such. We always feel welcomed! Sally keeps the line moving while still being friendly. We rarely have to wait in a line and if we do, it moves quickly. I love this place! Always clean and neat. They have really awesome soup and the sandwiches are equally good. Their service is great, this place knows how to run a restaurant! They also have a fresh salad bar, which I'm not a salad fan, but it's always well stocked and clean. They have pastas, soups, sandwiches and FREE ice cream! I pick up lunch or dinner here probably at least once a week. It's one of the very few places around here where I feel like I can get an overall healthy meal at a reasonable price. Love the manager's special with half a sammy and a cup of fruit. The salad bar is usually well stocked and the soups are pretty yummy. Placing an order is easy, it's filled fast, accurately and packaged perfectly for "to go". No styrofoam, THANK YOU! Why just 2 stars? My husband prefers going places to "eat in" and he loves, loves, loves Jason's salad bar. The problem? My stomach lurches when I go to hunt for a clean table. The table top has been wiped and the chairs are always put at some funky angle to the tables to tell me they have been serviced but why do they never notice the crumbs all over the chair seats or the icky goo all over the rungs of the back of the chairs. Has it ever occurred to them to actually clean/sanitize the salt and pepper shakers? This is a great place for folks to bring their little ones. I get that, but for everybody else, that is exactly why some extra attention to keeping the "front of the house" looking it's best is so critical. I hope somebody there actually reads these reviews and that they take to heart I really do like this place. I actually believe they've got a perfect handle on how to run the "back of the house" and that the food inspectors ensure the kitchen is in top shape. I'm late to the party but I'm loving Jason's Deli! The menu is full of fresh options and the salad bar is yummy and filling. It's not exceptionally large or full of awesome offerings. It's just the standard stuff, but it's nice to walk into a place like this and get the salad bar without a huge dinner and long wait to go with it. I can't wait to go back and try a sandwich. My 4 year old got TWO lunches (growth spurt!) and loved the pizza and mac n cheese. read more

We tried this place for the first time as a recommendation from our realtor. I had the Cuban sandwich and I have made a better sandwich at home. They piled all the meat in the middle of the cibatta bun so that the bun touched on the ends and it was 2 inches away in the middle (fail!) next problem was that the sandwich as luke warm and lacking on the honey mustard and pickles which are staples to a good Cuban sandwich. Lastly it was served with standard potato chips and after scanning the menu a little more closely I had more choices: fresh fruit, cottage cheese, veggies, etc. Now I know this can be blamed on my negligence but I wish some would have at least asked if I wanted something different. Oh well live and learn and I will stay away from here the next time I want a sandwich. read more

Not a bad place to pop in for a bite or order delivery from. I'd say my review is more of a 3 1/2 star rating. Their Muffalettas are pretty good, and the other sandwiches are just okay, with the exception of one. If I'm feeling indulgent, I have to get the Bird To the Wise sandwich. it's packed full of different meats on a good bun. You have to ask for it though. It's not on the menu, but they know what you're talking about and will fix it for you. The calorie count is high, so it's a once in a while sandwich, but man is it good. I'm not much on the salad bar or ice cream scene, so those aren't a factor in my review. I work down the road, so I've ordered delivery more than dined in. It get's quite busy and cramped during the work week lunch hour. Parking can be a challenge too during those times. They've always been on time with our deliveries and haven't gotten any of our orders wrong. I'll order delivery again at some point, and maybe chow down on some of that meaty goodness known as the Bird To the Wise. read more

When I lived in Texas I loved Jason's. Seems rather plain for some reason. Average just average. Nothing special about this deli.

I love the food but next time you go, check out the ridiculous amount of waterspots on the cups and silverware. Just never looks clean

Since it's cold and rainy, soup and a hot sandwich sounded good. My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to try something other than Panera even though they have the best broccoli cheese soup - and I had been to two different Jason's Deli on the Missouri side of the state line, so this is where we chose to come (after a quick search for "soup" on the yelp app). I ordered broccoli cheese soup (of course!) and a hot corned beef sandwich; my boyfriend ordered the turkey club sandwich and spicy shrimp gumbo. Unfortunately, after rearranging my corned beef for my first bite, I realized my meat was cold - like it had just come out of the cooler and the middle was barely warm to the touch. I checked the menu to make sure I ordered a "hot" sandwich and not "spicy" or "toasted" because I don't like to complain. I talked to the woman who dropped off our food and had her a feel a piece of the meat so she knew what I was experiencing and she took it back. I then ate the first spoon-full of my broccoli cheese soup and it, too, was nearly cold. I mentioned something to my boyfriend about it and his response was "if you're saying it's cold, then it must be cold" because he likes his food with as much heat and steam as possible! The poor server woman came back and gave me my sandwich and I apologized to her and told her my soup was also cold and the bowl was warmer than the soup. She apologized and said it was probably the microwave because one of the two wasn't working properly. Sooo... I felt bad for having to send my food back but the workers KNOW that there is a problem with the heating element in the microwave. Sounds like management needs to put in a work order and turn off the microwave instead of feeding their customers NOT COOKED FOOD. read more

Ok this is my second experience at Jason's and it was really bad again. First time I got the French dip sandwich, the meat tasted kind of funny which I told my wife about and later had my head in the toilet for the night. Today my wife was going there for lunch with her mom and she asked if I wanted anything, so I thought maybe last time was a fluke so I said sure how about a pastrami sandwich on sourdough with mustard and pickles, well what I got was a totally dry meat with hardly no mustard and two pickle spears on the sandwich and they don't have sourdough. Are you kidding me! No sourdough, you're a sandwitch place how do you not have sourdough! Anyhow all I'm saying is the sandwiches are not that good I recommend just go to subway or any other sandwich place. read more

I gave this place such a terrible rating because the past 2 times that I have been there I have gotten sick before I walked out of the door. Both times where with the salad bar. I wrote the manager and he told me that I was the only person to report being sick. He was rude, and didn't not apologize. It was myself and my husband that we're sick both times. The only reason I am giving this a 4 star tonight is because I love the Beef Eater! Tonight when we went into the Olathe Deli, there was only one other family there, (about 5:45pm), and the place was filthy. Tables weren't cleared let alone wiped down. We had to look for a clean table. The floors hadn't been swept either. I might have to visit the Overland Park Deli for awhile. read more

Prices are fair, portions are a good size, and it's easy to eat healthy here. There is a good variety, which is great for picky eaters. I like that they try to avoid food additives like high fructose corn syrup and added trans fats. Very easy to eat here with a large group, easy to move tables together. Easy to order and pay seperately at the counter before sitting down as a group. Great place for casual work lunches. read more
