I've been to this location several times now. I've never been disappointed with the food; however, it's kind of a hit and miss with customer service. It always seems like some young teenager working the register who doesn't really want to be there. Also there have been times their ice cream machine runs low and starts spewing ice cream everywhere when you pull the levers. There staff definitely need to check on the machine more often, plus they often run out of ice cream cones and chocolate syrup from the pump dispenser. Not handicap friendly. Spaces right at the door are for carry out only. Handicap parking around the corner is not convenient. I use a cane so can't carry a tray. We went for a late hopefully quiet lunch. We were greeted with slamming dishes, conversations between employees at the level of yelling, and a menu that left a LOT to be desired. The best salad bar is at Jason's Deli and even though they have raised the prices on it it is still worth the money. You have the standard salad fixins along with several side salads such as a mustard potato salad, Italian pasta salad, corn relish and more. Add to that the variety of toppings along with humus and as many green olives and whole hard boiled eggs as you want. And that means now that sweet tomatoes is gone they are the most affordable salad bar you can easily find because Souper Salads is great --- if you can still find one. Bottomline if you are smart you could get all the key ingredients for a great salad already chopped, sliced and diced - buy your own lettuce and favorite dressing and you could easily have the makings for a lunch salad at least two days on hand. With maybe a side potato salad with your dinner. And we have not talked about their sandwiches and baked potatoes plus brewed ice tea! This location is close to home, but we don't hit it as much as the downtown Dallas one. With that said, it's still very good. It's a chain, so no matter which you go to chances are, if you like one you'll like them all. They make some really good sandwiches, but for me the star is the salad buffet. 90 percent of the time it's what I order. The only thing missing for me are black olives. Decided to give Jason's Deli in Rowlett a try, since I had a positive experience with a Jason's out in Arlington. I ordered a California Club, got my dine-in number and sat down. I figured they brought the food to the table, so I sat and waited for my sandwich to show up, which I figured would not take a long time because they were not that busy. After about 5 minutes, I went to get my sandwich, but I saw other customers being served at their tables. Not a big deal, but when I sat down and took a few bites, I realized I had more bun and lettuce than turkey. Needless to say, I will have to pick up something else on my way home, because I don't trust asking them to fix this situation. We came in around 5 o'clock on a recent Friday and although they were not busy, virtually every table and booth in the restaurant was dirty, stacked with dishes. My previous review of this restaurant posted 3 days ago was extremely long and in rewriting this review, I want to make sure that this is seen by other customers, managers, owners and employees, both current and future and not overlooked due to how long it originally was. The key points in the original review were the restaurants uncleanliness near and around the salad bar, the cooks eating over the food in the kitchen, no hair nets, hats or gloves being used by food handlers, manager on duty adjusting his ponytail near salad bar, employee wiping her nose whilst attempting to clean the bar area without gloves, sticky condiment containers, untrained staff on customer service and food handling protocol and the fact that someone was allowed off the street to fill a cup with a drink. Most everything mentioned here is an absolute violation and we hope this is immediately taken care of especially in light of the corona virus pandemic currently happening in America. My boyfriend and I go here for lunch or dinner very often. Mostly before grocery shopping at target or PetCo (Petsmart maybe?). We love it. The staff is the friendliest in the world! Seriously, everyone looks like they love thier job. They smile and welcome us, they ask us if they can pick up dishes when we appear finished with them. The manager greets us almost every time we are there and makes us feel like we get special service. It's always clean, everything on the salad bar is stocked and cold and I don't think I have ever actually seen a line, but it's quite busy. Highly recommended. read more
