Stayed in a VRBO close by and there was a menu on the fridge for this place. We finally went our final day, wish we had gone earlier! Super friendly service, great food too! The omelette was stuffed with ham and cheese. My husband loved his French toast too. The staff was so nice and helpful. Loved the decor and prayer box too!

Was meeting a friend for a quick lunch at a local place. It's been quite some time since I've been here, probably a few years. Masks are not required since you'll be eating. Everything is sanitized including the silverware that are packaged individually. Since I haven't had the opportunity to travel this past year for my go-to breakfast sandwich, I was excited to have the egg, ham, and cheese and selected the croissant (though there's options for other bread, including gluten free). Yeah, I probably can attribute my Covid weight to eating several croissants per week (gotta make it easy for new years resolutions). My friend who apparently comes here a lot had been texting me about being hungry and looking forward to the grits, ordered this overloaded grits. Gotta admit, it looked like a hearty meal. You simply need to order at the counter and take a seat, several tables including two outdoors. Someone brings your order. He was really nice and came back with several napkins either recognizing that I must be a messy eater or will need it . It was a pretty constant flow of people. They've been known for their coffee, and such (one of last time here was picking up an order for my visiting MIL) though options for breakfast all day of operating hours and lunch. It's been so long since I've eaten out locally, so it was great to see and catch up with neighbors who were working there and those eating there too. It's understandable why a nice flow of people as the prices are very reasonable, and you get some delish dish!

This Bistro has been here for 13 years! We live 2 miles away and didn't know they were here, but what a well kept secret. Their food is very good and the service is outstanding. They serve breakfast and lunch every day and are closed on Sundays. We liked the flexibility of their menu, and the food was cooked exactly as ordered. They even will toast your muffin if you would like - Pretty cool!! I also liked the Christian music played in the background as we ate. If you are looking for a quiet place to have a tasty breakfast or lunch and like friendly people who care about their customers, I'd highly recommend the Java Bistro at 5 Forks!

Cool little breakfast place in Five Forks. Fantastic breakfast menu with friendly service minded staff. Everybody smiles here. Bagels were close to New York. Sausage patties more like what grandma made, than the flavorless slabs you get in places like IHOP. Can't go wrong with the Lattes. Looking forward to returning for lunch.

BLT sandwich with fries was AMAZING

We loved our visit to Java Bistro! The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is super friendly. Not to mention they have the best BLT, French fries, and vanilla latte I've ever had! This is definitely a must visit when in Greenville!

I was back in SC for a family illness/death visit, and had lots of errands to run in order to help the family prepare for the funeral. I made a quick visit to Java Bistro to pick up an espresso drink. I always have a somewhat negative reaction when I see that I have to walk to the back of an establishment to be served. It just feels funky. Once at the back, I ordered a cappuccino, asking if they had coconut milk? No. Almond milk? No. Just soy milk. So, okay, I went with soy milk, because I am lactose intolerant. The cappuccino was fine. I probably should have been specific and requested a bold espresso, but, to me, espresso by definition means you want something strong. Yes? I would definitely return to order again, as I enjoy supporting small businesses.

Then I watch new people come in place their order and have it ready for pick up within a few minutes. Meanwhile, I'm still curiously waiting for my biscuit sandwich to be ready for pick up. So I continue to wait....and wait....and wait. Finally, I approach one of the staff behind the register, show him my receipt and inquire about when my biscuit will be ready. He looked perplexed. Suddenly a female staff member walks up and asks if there's a problem. I say, "Well, I'm still waiting for my biscuit order and I'm just wondering if it will be ready soon. She immediately goes to grab a biscuit to give to to me. Again, I showed her my receipt and said, "Don't you even want to see what I ordered before you start handing me a biscuit?" Both staff members look at my receipt then each other perplexed. Then the female said, "Apparently it didn't fire back here for us so we never saw the order in the kitchen." Since I don't speak kitchen slang, I asked her to please clarify what that meant. She appeared confused. I responded with, "In plain English like I'm five and don't work here, will you please tell me what happened to my order and when I might expect to receive the biscuit sandwich I ordered." The gal said they didn't receive the order in the kitchen but they would have my biscuit sandwich up right away. Within a couple minutes, another guy from the kitchen comes to my table carrying a plate with the biscuit sandwich I ordered on it. He rudely flung the plate down on the table as if he was trying to send it flying to the other end of the table. RUDE and completely unnecessary! So, because the Maple Street register/order system failed and after patiently waiting an unusual amount a time, I curiously inquired into it's whereabouts I get such rude treatment? $11 for a mediocre biscuit sandwich delivered with a level rude and indifferent customer service attitude is simply not worth it!! Congratulations Maple Street. You've forever lost me as a customer!! Going to give Biscuit Head and Maverick a try.....

My girlfriends and I went for girls night, and I loved how the place was packed with women. Such a cool idea. We got the rosemary beignets, and they were really good. Loved the butter that came with it too, and the parm. Very tasty. I had the half chicken, and it was maybe the best chicken I have ever had. Seriously, I know what I am ordering next time, and the time after, because it was so good. I didn't enjoy the sides as much. I had the pomme puree and the roasted vegetables. It's strange that the mashed potatoes were flavorless and mealy, and the veggies were meh. That said, the chicken was awesome, and I will come back for that alone.

Friday night we had a 5:45 reservation since that was what we could get on Open Table or a much later option. Turns out that this was a good choice because we got a nice 4 top for the two of us in a corner, so minimal "neighbors." Our order beat the kitchen rush. We saw the kitchen rush happen as the 6:00 reservations began to fill the restaurant. Service and hospitality was excellent. We continue to enjoy the evergreen, outdoor, theme brought indoors. We wanted to try some new things and have some familiar things. Our start was the chopped Caesar Salad, which has chopped fried anchovies as a unique way to include this into the salad as well as breadcrumbs rather than larger croutons (not grainy crumbs, but smaller than croutons) and this is quite sharable. Or, could be an entree with an added protein. We shared a steak tartare - classic and excellent, a Farmers board of meat, cheeses, jams, etc. and the full head of Roasted Cauliflower with a spiced yogurt sauce that was accompanied by our choices of fries and mixed steamed vegetables (green beans, asparagus, carrots). All of this was fantastic, with the star being the surprising roasted cauliflower dish. One glass of wine and that came to $119 ($150 with Christmas tip). The watch out here is two-fold. Most dishes are intentionally shareable by theme of the restaurant and the glass of wine is gonna run $15-$20 for an 8 ounce pour. So, we came back Sunday with one of our sons and his girlfriend to celebrate Christmas with her as this is a great gluten free restaurant and has become her favorite too. Sunday was less stellar, except for the service, which was on yeoman's duty and was outstanding, especially considering they were 7 staff down due to illness. We were greeted promptly for our 12:45 reservation and it took 5-7 minutes to get our table due to it being packed out and short staffed. Winds up that Anna, the manager, wound up waiting on us. I commend her for the good communication of her staffing predicament without making it a complaint or an excuse, because they delivered. We had our drink order and lunch order placed by 1:00 and drinks arrived at 1:07, shared Caesar arrived at 1:15 and meals at 1:33pm. I noted the time because they were doing a great job on managing the overall situation. We were out of there comfortably by 1:55, easy and well taken care of. My wife & son got the usual Reuben which is the current front runner in town. The girlfriend got an apple oriented salad without the praline pecans since they are not gluten free. Unfortunately, she did find three morsels of pecans, but they were avoided and due to the circumstances, we were not going to mention it - but here - just watch it if you are sensitive. I had the chicken and waffles with jam and maple syrup and the sunny side egg. This was only okay. I am quite sure what the chef intended and what I received were two different executions. The egg was perfection. The chicken was tasty, but not juicy and a bit tough (if Zaxby's is out executing here, there is a problem). The waffle was not tender at all and was almost too hard to cut with the provided butter knife, which then made the jam and syrup portion to be inadequate to overcome the waffle texture and flavor. With a fresher waffle, a bit more on the jam and syrup, this would have notched up, there is just a ratio thing there. I did have about half of the dish as carry home, but not sure if it will be eaten. I would not hold this against the restaurant though, just noting that a rush and short staff might have some unintended consequences. All in all, with a couple of brunch martini;s and a couple of bloody Mary's, the bill was $150 with tip $180 because it is Christmas and the staff and Anna did a banger job.
