It was delicious, and the texture of the whole thing, including the good-sized roll, was perfect, and of course the coffee in a place called Java Natio was great. Friendly, happy staff. The food was fresh, but mediocre in my opinion. We ordered the Java burger, truffle fries, chicken pupusas, and another chicken sandwich they had on their menu. The best thing was the truffle fries, I'll give those a 5/5. However, we paid $55 for all of this and we couldn't get even get a refill on our "fountain" coke. I walked up to the counter and asked for a refill and the girl said "oh sorry, we don't refill fountain drinks." DO WHAT!? I paid $55 for this food & I can't even get a refill? I've been here 3 times now. The first time I came shortly after they opened. I ordered pancakes and was excited to try it. When I got it, the pancakes were not fully cooked - so much so that it was runny. They offered me to make me something else so I got the lox bagel which was very small for the price. The second time I got a sandwich and it was just ok. The third time really confirmed that I will not be back. The outdoor seating is confusing because there is no hostess so I tried to ask someone who rudely ignored my question. We ordered breakfast sandwiches that looked very sad and didn't taste very good either. But the most disappointing thing was the croissant. I really can't believe they sell that. I asked them to toast it and it came burnt. It is not a croissant it's like a small loaf of bread. I've only been here for breakfast and coffee, I absolutely love this place! It's a super cute spot and it can get really busy. People generally come for a quick bite and leave. You order up front and if you order food, they give you a number and bring it to you. If you order a drink, you have to pick it up. Their lemon pastry was DELICIOUS, I highly recommend it. It was flaky, sweet with a tint of lemon flavor. We also got the ham & cheese omelet with potatos and a salad. The omelet itself was good, however the potatos were pretty bland. We also got blueberry pancakes, they looked really good but ended up being dry. I'm not sure if it was because they were so busy, but this was my first time sitting down to eat. I usually pick up a chai tea latte and pastry then leave. I recommend this place for a quick bite, not sure if I would come again to sit down. Service was great though, staff were very attentive. I love this place and I'm so glad it came to Gaithersburg! The coffee is amazing - I have never gotten any coffee here that was bad. There is also a cute caffe to sit and enjoy the coffee and food. The empanadas are amazing! They do have some outside seating with cute lights in front but most people eat inside. There is not a ton of parking on the street in front but there's a ton of parking within a 5 minute walking distance. They also sell alcohol here which many don't know. It can get pretty busy - so if you are in need for something quick, this is probably not the place for you. Otherwise, I definitely recommend. read more

I love Java Nation, mostly for the coffee. But they have a good casual brunch menu. This location is not my favorite, but is the most convenient for me. The only reason is the seating is smaller and limited. The outdoor seating is also not covered - so when it's too hot, it's miserable. The service is good. Coffee is a standout! The hot chocolate experts say 3.5/5, with an extra half star for the presentation. The Nutella crepe was very well cooked with more Nutella than expected. The dill home fries are a must get, crispy on the outside with soft insides, and well-spiced without overloading your taste buds. After a long time coming, Java Nation finally arrived i the Kentlands! We have visited their Bethesda location and loved it there. This Kentlands location has lived up to the hype and wait. It's beautiful inside and kicks my craving for Starbucks to the curb! What I like about this spot and we need more of this in MD is that it's a social house which you can have your coffee, you can work on your laptop, eat, and if you stay long enough you can then hit happy hour and dinner! Great coffee too, the pour over is my go to and the food is really good too. Huevos Rancheros is my dish but I'll try others soon. In the handful of visits, I've been impressed with the service, the ambiance, and the food/drinks. Oh this spot also replaced where the old Starbucks used to be and they made much better use of it! One of our favorite neighborhood spots to walk to for a good cup of coffee or a cappuccino, and excellent breakfasts. The huevos rancheros are outstanding, and the French toast and empanadas are also highly recommended. Besides the excellent food and coffee, we love the friendly service and outdoor dining option especially when we stop in during a dog walk. We've also stopped by in the afternoons for a cocktail and some light fare. This new coffee spot in Kentlands has got a lot of potential. My wife and I ordered an Iced Mocha, Almond Croissant, and Blueberry Pancakes. We had to send back the pancakes because parts of it was runny and raw. They were very polite about it and asked us if we still wanted the pancakes. Since we were short on time, we decided to get the LOX bagel. The bagel wasn't toasted and there was barely any salmon. The tomato slice underneath the Salmon was bigger! The Salmon itself was good, but the amount of salmon on the LOX bagel isn't worth the price. The Mocha Iced coffee wasn't too sweet but very rich! The Almond Croissant was flaky, filled with a good amount of almond paste inside, and wasn't too sweet! I would definitely come back again. read more
