Since we had a larger group, we ordered a martini tower, which was fun to share and definitely had enough alcohol to catch a nice vibe. One of my friends ordered the Huevos Rancheros and really enjoyed them, while another got the chicken sliders and liked them so much she took the leftovers home and happily finished them later. The highlight of the experience was the live one-man band, who created a great atmosphere, and our server, "Flexy Lexi." She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Great food, fun drinks, live entertainment, and excellent service. We'll definitely be back!

The six of us were seated across from the bar, and it was HOT . I started sweating and needed to use the menus as a fan and drink water to try and cool off. The restaurant had already been open for almost 2 hours, so I am not sure why it was so hot inside (others in our party were hot too, so I wasn't just me). Positives are the restaurant's beach decor and the hamburgers. Several people in our party ordered burgers, and they were cooked to perfection and the fries were really good! Negatives are very few seafood menu options and the fish tacos were terrible. They were drowning in a mayonnaise based slaw. The corn tortillas were really fresh and tasty, but when I bit into my taco I could mostly only taste mayonnaise and the pickled onions. Our friends even made an unsolicited comment that my tacos did not look good. Luckily, I selected fries as my side, because they were the best thing on my plate. With a name like Montauk, and the beach decor, I expected more fresh seafood options on the menu. More than half the menu was not seafood (Mediterranean platter, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, brussels sprouts, salads, etc.). Unfortunately, Montauk does not live up to the hype.

This is about how we were treated last night -- not the food…read more I really avoid giving poor reviews but in this case, I think others need to be aware of what they may encounter even with a reservation at DiMaggio's. I write this as someone who enjoys their food and has spent many hundreds of dollars there in the past. Last night, I arrived a few minutes early for our 6:15 reservation for a party of 2 while my dining companion was parking her car. The hostess took me to a table outside, on their empty patio, and said it was the only table they had. I explained that sitting in 105 ℉ heat and very high humidity around a sea of empty tables would not make for a pleasant dining experience. Do you have another table, please? Recognizing that their tables were probably all booked, I offered for us to sit at a high-top in the bar area or at the bar, if that would help. There were open high-top tables and several open seats at the bar. Well, even that was fruitless. I was informed that the open bar seats were "reserved for the owner's daughter," which was an effective way of telling me my business is unimportant to them. Meanwhile, an older gentleman in a suit who appeared to be a host, stood there watching the situation and doing nothing to help honor our reservation. So, I left. As someone who enjoys their food and has patronized DiMaggio's on multiple occasions, their dismissive treatment left me not wanting to return. So, if you have a reservation, I suggest confirming that they have an acceptable table for your party's needs. And as for the guy in a suit, next time do something to help your guests and hostesses alike.
