Walked in towards the end of their day, but was dismissed with told they were only doing to-go at that point... even though there were 3 others sitting and enjoying a cigar. After a fancy dinner, my friend and I decided to hit a cigar lounge vs bar hopping: We were glad we did. Not only does Churchill's have an extensive selection of smokes, they have an awesome selection of liquor. We decided on Hibiki Harmony for the latter. Sam is a super nice guy, and took great care of us. The vibe is chill and relaxing. The clientele are friendly and not overly loud. If you are looking to smoke a cigar, and have some fine liquor, Churchill's fits the bill. Its located on Scottsdale Rd not far from many restaurants, resorts & hotels. read more

Great location, great humidor, subpar staff. As an avid cigar lounge aficionado, I have been to hundreds of lounges throughout the country and this place was probably the worst customer service experience I've encountered. The singular employee was in the humidor stocking cigars when we arrived. He didn't greet us and didn't respond to our greetings. After selecting our cigars we inquired about paying and he asked us to just leave the cellophane on the front desk as he was now busy cleaning the bar. We found a place to sit and enjoyed our cigars. We did have to seek out service again to place drink orders. All in all, the person tending the space made us feel generally unwelcome and as if we were intruding on his time. Probably not a good look for a venue that ostensibly caters to discerning clientele. read more

I drove 30 miles the check this place out. They open at 10am. It is now 10:17 and still closed no one around. Kind of sucks I was looking forward to an Atabey. Will wait another ten minutes then I will have to head to Fox I know they will be open. You need employees that get to work on time, and I know one lost customer is nothing to you, but it is bad business. Update: Guy showed up 25 minutes late. I will never go back to this place. Also I saw 3 others try to enter they left as well before he arrived. I thought this place was supposed to be high end, classy? It's not. read more

Been here a few times the last few months. It's not the closest to my place in Old Town but it's worth the drive. Friendly patrons, great seating, solid selection, classic rock to set the mood, and a bartender named Sam. Perfect place to end a long week grinding. Oh, and great selection of cigars. read more

I'd probably give 5 stars if there was a humidor attendant, and if the bartender, that had taken my table side drink order, didn't walk off in the middle of me asking a question about the humidor. Probably won't return. read more

Great atmosphere and Sam's is off the charts on knowledge about cigars but also able to pair unique drinks. Have been to many cigar bar establishments across the US and this is by far the best experience because of Dam and his knowledge. He's super personable and approachable. We have always enjoyed stops at the Phoenix location and were thrilled to see one open on our side of town. This is a great place to find a new smoke or sit with a old favorite. The selection and prices are excellent. The bourbon and whiskey selection as well as the cocktail are great and make for a fantastic stop to recharge. Sam IS this place- his customer service, easy manner, and ability to create atmosphere with the folks that have wandered in can make anyone a regular. I've never been there when patrons were disruptive or in any way disrespectful to any of the surrounding residents or businesses. read more

Good cigar selection and awesome liquor as well. The downside is there is Lito no ventilation and a smoke cloud hangs in the room. I went with another avid cigar smoker as myself and he was in agreement with the poor to no ventilation. Found another place in Scottsdale that was awesome and went back there for a second time. read more

Great new spot in North Scottsdale. Although it's a "cigar bar" it's really a hospitality establishment. What makes this place so great is Sam the bartender/manager. He's funny, he's gracious, he's knowledgeable about booze and cigars ( and pretty much every other subject under the sun ). This is a significant improvement of the aged old, stuffy cigar shop. It's a more modern, clean approach, with an excellent selection of top-quality cigars. Plenty of comfortable seating and a full bar really complete the appeal of this new location. The service from Sam the bartender is fantastic! He's very knowledgeable of both drink and cigar. If you're looking for a place to watch a football game and smoke a cigar be careful going here LOL. They don't support the Cardinals, not that I'm the biggest cardinal fan but all their TVs were on the Chiefs game today. So if your a chief fan go to this place if anything else I'd stay away. One of the regulars came in and made a bunch of suggestions, he found the flavored cigars on a bottom shelf. The bartender didn't chat with anybody in the bar it was so odd. Definitely not like the experiences I've had in the past at this place. My gf said she probably won't be back but I will, I'm hoping that was a one off experience. The patio area in the evening is the place to be. There is no food available, but there is free ChexMix. And they have happy hour!!

There were some interesting people chilling out in their cars and yelling to each other when I came out - I was by myself and felt a little sketched by it, but I was fine.

Ambiance (3.5/5): Blue Martini is definitely a bit bougie and caters to that audience. There's a nice outdoor patio which is where we sat since the weather was beautiful. There's a bar outside and waiter service. I briefly looked inside and there's a bar inside too, lounge sitting, and a dance floor. Blue Martini often has live music or a DJ. Definitely a spot where you can break it down on the dance floor. There's bottle service too if that's your thing. Service (2/5): Talk about slow service! It took our waitress longer than it should have for us to greet us. After placing an order for drinks, we received them promptly. After that we didn't see her again for quite a while. I wanted to order a second cocktail and she was nowhere to be found. Eventually she came around and I placed my order. I decided to close out right then and there knowing that it would take a long time to track her down to close out if I didn't do it right then and there. They also charge two fees amounting to 5%. Not sure what that's all about. Food (N/A): While they do have food, I just had drinks since I was there pretty late. I view Blue Martini as more of a drinks spot, but I can't comment on the food. They have a daily happy hour with discounts on select food items. Drinks (3.5/5): If the name isn't a dead giveaway, Blue Martini specializes in martinis. Beyond martinis, they have a large cocktail list. Plus everything else you'd find with a full bar. The drinks are a bit pricey (it is a see and be seen type of spot after all and you're likely to see old geezers pulling up in Lambos and Ferraris), but I liked the selection. I started off with the Blue Martini, their namesake. It's served with a blue glow stick. From there, I had the strawberry basil martini. Both were pretty good. Not speakeasy quality cocktails but better than your average bar for sure. While Blue Martini isn't really my scene, I can have a good time anywhere. If you're looking to turn up and dance, it's a good spot for that. And it's also elite for people watching.

With a name like Montauk, and the beach decor, I expected more fresh seafood options on the menu. We started with the Crudo of the week, which I believe was Ahi tuna with pomegranate and some type of orange citrus... No real qualms, it was fresh, but kind of fell out a place for the restaurant. All in all, we spent around 191 before tip, which is what we expected. You definitely get the impression it's a neighborhood spot, but not neighborhood prices..if that makes sense. The storefront practically says, "Congratulations, you've found the place." And it is - THE PLACE. Whether you're into cigars, pipes, or pipe tobacco, Stag appears to have just about everything you could need. The selection is impressive, but what really sets this place apart is the knowledge behind the counter. I immediately met Rick, the curator and a true tobacconist. He was a little intimidating at first, but within a few minutes I realized I was talking to someone with a lifetime of experience and absolutely no interest in selling me something I didn't need. This week marked 50 years of pipe smoking for him. I explained that I was a longtime cigar smoker just beginning my pipe journey. As I started comparing my cigar preferences to pipe tobacco, he stopped me and said something along the lines of, "Pipes and cigars are apples and oranges." That turned out to be the most valuable lesson of the day. I handed him my shopping list: * Bristle pipe cleaners * A quality pipe pouch * Pipe tobacco He immediately started making recommendations. He put Capstan Blue, Three Nuns ("Three Penguins," according to Rick), and Peterson Nightcap in my hands. They were out of Peterson Deluxe Navy Rolls, and when I asked about their house Burley, he told me it wasn't worth my time. I appreciated the honesty. Then came the conversation that made the trip worthwhile. As I was preparing to check out, Rick asked how many pipes I owned. When I told him, he launched into a discussion about what he calls "ghost smokers"--new pipe enthusiasts who constantly chase the next blend, never spend enough time with one tobacco to really understand it, and never allow a pipe or blend to develop its own character. He explained that tobacco needs time to tell its story, and that dedicating certain pipes to certain blends allows both the pipe and the smoker to develop a deeper appreciation for them. It wasn't a sales pitch. In fact, he talked me out of buying several things I originally planned to purchase. I ultimately left with two tins of Three Nuns, a tin of Cornell & Diehl Burley Flake #5 (which Rick insisted I needed to try), a quality pipe pouch, cleaning supplies, and a beautifully restored estate pipe for $50ish that seemed far too nice for the price. More importantly, I left with a better understanding of pipe smoking than I had when I walked in. That's the difference between a store and a tobacconist. If you're looking for someone to ring up a sale, there are plenty of places that can do that. If you're looking for experience, wisdom, honest recommendations, and people who genuinely care about the hobby, Stag Tobacconist is absolutely worth the drive. I'll be back.
