I went to Dr. Jay a few days ago to get treated for acne. In the past, my dermatologist appointments have lasted no more than 5 minutes-- getting the room prepared for my doctors visit took more time than the doctors visit itself. I had to specifically request the pimples I wanted her to treat. This was not the case at Dr. Jay's office. Dr. Jay took a thorough medical history, listened to my concerns, and answered all of my questions. He meticulously treated every pimple on my face. After evaluating my skin and treating my acne, Dr. Jay prescribed me a medication to help prevent future break outs. He explained how the medication works as well as how I should use the medication. I felt cared for the moment I stepped into Dr. Jay's warm and cozy office. His staff was polite and helpful and I felt very comfortable. Want to avoid this "want-to-be" high-end cosmetic dermatology office. There are far better, more progressive centers where the physicians actually know what they;re doing. This guy actually burned me during a hair removal session and claimed that I was informed of the risk. The hair removal didn't work and now I am scarred to boot. read more

Dr. Harvey Jay has been my dermatologist for the past twenty years. I have been very very pleased with the care and attention he gives to whatever problem is bothering me. The office visit feels like concierge medicine. Dr Jay's style is relaxed and unhurried. He carefully listens to whatever I want to say, and then performs a thorough and complete exam. He will then fully explain my conditon and his plan for helping me, making sure that I understand it all. I have had tremendous results from his treatments, both for my skin problems and for the cosmetic laser procedures he has done for my rosacea. The office is tranquil and elegant. He leaves plenty of time in between patients so there's usually nobody but me in the office and little to no wait time. When I'm at his office I feel like I'm his only patient! I have seen Dr. Jay around five times over the past 20 years for skin treatments including IPL and Epilight. The reason I return is because the treatments work. It's certainly not because of Dr. Jay's personality. Dr. Jay has a strange personality. He tends to talk non-stop (although the pace of his patter has slowed over the years) and if you try to interrupt him to ask a question or make a comment he will petulantly exclaim "I'm trying to help you!" When I mentioned to him that I was using a cortisone cream prescribed by another doctor for the side effects from my last treatment Dr. Jay was so upset I thought he might have a stroke. Hello, Hopefully, what I am about to share will change your life. Dr. Jay saved mine. I am a healthy 44 year old male that has suffered with Rosacea since I was about 25. It first started as a "flush" whenever I became exposed to cold or hot temperatures, spicy foods, hot or cold food, emotions...These "triggers" would cause my face to become red, hot to the touch, sting and burn on the surface and pound deep down in my cheek bones. Each time I had a flush the symptoms became progressively worse, occurring more frequently, becoming more intense and lasting longer. Over a year or so my temples, cheeks and nose were red, swollen and painful. I noticed a thickening of my skin especially around my nose and cheeks. I later went to a dermatologist who diagnosed my condition as Rosacea. It was the first time I would hear that word. My Dermatologist put me on Metrogel and Retin-A. His advice was to avoid my triggers. Those now included exercise, showering, being in the sun, being in the cold, eating hot, cold, or spicy foods, being embarrassed, mad, applying sun screen, or dry skin lotion, consuming alcohol, humidity...... Basically I was bound to lie down in a humidity and temperature controlled room and not function. The prescribed Metrogel and Retin-A only caused me to have more intense extremely painful flushes. It was like putting acid on my face. I was told to continue use, to push through it. I could not. Over the years my symptoms progressed the flushing spread from my temples, cheeks and nose to my forehead, neck, and chest. The last symptom, and most scary was when I developed ocular Rosacea. I had read about it so I knew what was happening when my eyes became bloodshot and felt as if there were grains of sand in them every time I blinked. I began a quest to find a solution. I had a great experience with dr. jay. First of all, he is the NICEST MAN/DOCTOR (the kind that goes out of his way for you when you are nice). I had been to a previous laser center and had been severely burned because they spent about 10 minutes with me and didn't get any patient history.
