We've used Junior on several occasions for his mobile mechanic services. At first, I thought I'd found a mechanic I could trust. The last couple of times we've used him, I've been very disappointed. I paid close to $1,200 for a pair of control arms for my Malibu after he diagnosed those as the source of an awful rattling it's been making. I decided to go ahead with Junior, even though he was about $400 pricier than other quotes I'd received. To my disappointment, the rattling sound has persisted. When I asked him to reassess, he let me know it was the engine mounts--another $420. Additionally, Junior quoted me $1,703 for my Jeep, which was supposed to include a transmission flush. This was before the control arms incident, at which point I was still giving Junior my business. The last time I went for an oil change, the mechanics let me know that my transmission fluid was very dirty and would need a flush. This was about 3 weeks following Junior's service. My check engine light came on suddenly, so for my safety I decided not to drive the car until I could get it diagnosed by a mechanic. My friend told me to consider a mobile mechanic, since they come straight to your house. I started doing my research and found Jay R mobile mechanic on Yelp. His reviews are stellar, so I decided to call Jay to ask him a few questions regarding his services. Our conversation was going great, up until I asked him if he was licensed, insured and bonded. I specifically asked for his license number so I can look him up and then all of a sudden he was silent and then just abruptly HUNG UP ON ME! I tried to call back several times and then he completely blocks me. Why? Because I'm asking for proof that he is licensed, insured and bonded? Hanging up on me made it obvious right away that he isn't. So out of frustration, I dig a little further on this guy and ultimately find out through the dmv that there's a database to check for compliance for every auto repair and body shop in Vegas. I searched for this business and discover that he is in fact NOT licensed, insured nor bonded. It is unlawful in the state of NV to work on other people's vehicles in a business capacity for compensation without being in compliance. Which he is not. Jay R mobile mechanic is NOT in compliance in accordance to the registration requirements set by NV DMV. HE IS NOT LICENSED, INSURED OR BONDED and if you hire him to work on your vehicle, you're taking a BIG risk. I think most, if not all of these reviews are lies and fabricated by his family members and friends. I'm not here to knock anyone and he may very well be a great mechanic but you have to be on the up and up and legal at all times! What if an accident occurs? Completed my second vehicle repair this week. I did a previous post for my A/C Compressor for my 2015 Altima on Saturday. He completed the work on the 2015 Rogue this morning. Well another part that Jay installed in my car went bad. This time it was the radiator. Very dissappointed in Jay not honoring his parts or work. After confirming from a reliable mechanic it is going to cost me another $500 to replace it. I am not sure if this review will be kept out there for the yelp community. I noticed that they have a way of not being put out there for folks to view. But I don't want folks to get taken like me and hope people will be alert. Always get it in writing before any work and get your own parts. I needed to have my front wheel bearings replaced due to a loud growling sound, which I've heard before on other cars that had bad wheel bearings. There was also a rattle from one of the front wheel areas that sounded like a loose brake dust shield, again based on previous experience with other cars. I had to pay $80 for Junior to come out and inspect the issue, and after taking the car out for a test drive, was told the bearings and dust shield were fine, but the issue causing the noises was that I needed new brake rotors and pads, front and rear, due to them being warped, with the brake job totaling nearly $500 I knew this was nonsense, largely because the front/rear brake rotors and pads were completely replaced a year or two prior, with less than 10k miles on them, still performed perfectly (and did not behave at all like they were warped, as Junior suggested), and you could clearly see the rotors and pads had plenty of life left. I'm not a mechanic, but I have a decent understanding of how basic car parts should look and work. Not to mention the sound being made was a classic noise that's made by bad wheel bearings, not brakes. I bought the new bearings and brake dust shields myself and went elsewhere to have them installed, which completely resolved the growling and rattling sounds I was experiencing. There are also some leaks from the engine area that I later confirmed were completely misdiagnosed, but that was not the primary issue I needed to have resolved at the time. read more

I wanted to get a 90k maintenance on my car (2013 Kia Rio) and sent requests around to shops in Vegas, along with Jay. While shops gave me various quotes or told me to come in, Jay asked to call me right away and let me know he could take care of what I needed without a problem. With his great reviews I decided to give him a shot. Jay does a diagnostic of your car to figure out what you need (for $50 which he subtracts later from labor), then asks you to go purchase the parts (he recommends O'Reilly's over AutoZone) and he'll install everything for you. In my case he told me exactly what I needed and didn't need, the brands he recommends and that I also needed new brake pads and resurfaced rotors (which was accurate and I knew I needed to do soon anyway). Some things I thought I needed like the serpentine belt replaced, he mentioned were fine and didn't try to upsell me. After the diagnostic I went to go get the parts and he said he'd do the work first thing in the morning as he prefers to work during the day. The next morning he came to my place and went to work right away in my parking spot while I worked from a home. After a few hours he had everything done and gave me a final quote which is about the same as shops were quoting me for a 90k service only without the brakes and rotors. So he got me a great deal. He also came back later in the evening to fix one more issue on the car and waited for me to test drive it to make sure all went well.
