My experience with Jay's Sedan Service was remarkable. After some airline interruptions for my boss's wife, I was looking for a last-minute car service from Washington, DC to Raleigh, NC. I was pleased when I gave Jay's Sedan Service a call at 8:00 PM on a Sunday night and they were able to accommodate a car service for 7:00 AM the following day. Not only were they able to accommodate this request for 10 people plus luggage, but everyone I interacted with on the phone (at 8:00 PM on a Sunday night!!!) was fantastic. Having a traveling rock band has made booking limo transportation necessary when the logistics of getting from point A to B make driving ourselves too risky or inconvenient. Sometimes it's multiple stops in a crowded city, but in this case it was a critical time issue: we had exactly 2 hours between the last note of our show in Southeast Washington D.C. and the 10:07PM non-stop flight to Denver out of Washington Dulles Airport (34 miles away). A road case needed to be checked (45min cutoff time) and at 8AM the next morning we would be traveling from Denver to Aspen to load-in and sound check for another show. We couldn't afford to take a chance on a taxi not showing up on time or breaking down on the highway - I've experienced the latter more than once! With this much time pressure, private limo transportation in DC was the ONLY option and I found Jay's Sedan Service highly rated on Yelp. Jay responded very promptly to my request and was very professional with his communication through email (a trip confirmation) and his phone call in advance of the scheduled pickup. Everything went smoothly and the driver that picked us up in a black Suburban was very friendly. The venue we performed at had valet service in front, so Jay had his driver wait around the corner for us. As soon as we were ready for pickup, our driver appeared in less than one minute. We made it to the airport in less than 40mins and even had time to grab a Potbelly sandwich on the concourse before our flight. I will definitely call Jay again the next time we need transportation in the DC area to/from the airport. Jay clearly cares about his customers, and that is just plain cool. I called Jay at the last minute for a trip that I was booking into Alexandria's Old Town for a meeting. I actually needed him to pick me up at Baltimore Airport and drive me the one hour trip down to Alexandria (this would save me $1,000 on a last minute airfare into DCA). I have to say that with the multitude of limo companies in the DC area, it's a daunting task to make a decision based not only on cost -- but reliability and service. I'm happy to recommend Jay's Sedan Service on all counts. I read a few of the other YELP reviews which actually helped me with my decision... I love the fact Jay responds to EACH review. That showed me that he values his company and its reputation. So, after leaving a voice-mail regarding my needs on a late Saturday night, Jay called me back right away that evening and offered a 10% discount for new customers which was appreciated and confirmed my reservation by email. Jay showed up promptly at BWI airport and called me as soon as I landed to inform me which baggage claim he would be waiting for me at... When I arrived in baggage claim, Jay had a sign with my name and was well groomed and very polite. He carried my bags out to his black Lincoln which was neatly stocked with bottle waters and candy. One thing I appreciated was that he did not turn the music on. (I'm sure that he would have if I asked) however, this allowed me to open my laptop, put in my wireless card and get some much needed work accomplished from the back seat as I was smoothly driven to my hotel. Once arriving in Alexandria about 50 minutes later I, was able to pay with my credit card by sliding it on his iPhone for approval (very easy). The receipt was emailed immediately to me. I booked my return ride with him at that point. He was right on time and made sure I got back to the BWI airport in plenty of time for my flight. Worried about the price? I compared this car service to Super Shuttle (private car service) and Jay's Sedan was competitive. Of course for much less $$ you can take the Super Shuttle "shared ride" , however if time if money to you... I promise you'll not get any work accomplished, you'll sit on uncomfortable van bench seats and who knows how many stops you'll make. Keep in mind that you can save the hassle and expense of renting a car and driving, you can work or day dream as you are whisked to your location, you'll save the parking fees ($35 a day at my hotel) and much more. Overall, I rate Jay's Sedan Service as 5 stars and will use his service again during my business trips back to the city. A bit on the pricey side, but was reliable, clean, and early. I ordered the car service to Union Station from my apartment in Silver Spring for a very early AM amtrak train. I would recommend this for travel to and from airport. From downtown Silver Spring to Union station, the fastest means of travel is still the metro (only if it is on the weekdays) but sometime the unreliability of the metro causes lost sleep and unnecessary stress. Def better than the blue shuttle services and def worth the extra money for the peace of mind. I will def consider using this service in the future for work related travel. read more

Had cold bottled water in a cooler nice touch. I needed it after I got the hot spiced gyro. The ac was working well considering it was hot and humid with a 96 degree heat index at 845pm! Ordered car service to Dulles Airport from home in Arlington/Mclean area. Arrived 15 minutes early which was great. Car was a black Lincoln Towncar so the passenger can enjoy a nice ride on crappy NoVa roads. Tuesday 8-9am morning, but going West, against the commuter traffic going East. So, Jay's guy did what he was supposed to. Here's what I didn't like: (1) Was charged $65 when $55 was posted on the website. (2) Was charged $6.50 as an admin fee (I used a CC). Note that an automatic 20% tip is tacked on, so let the driver load up your bags for that money. Also note that there is another 20% charge during prime travel days, so just be aware. I didn't comparison shop, but I did have a metered taxi from Dulles to Balston, Arlington on a Saturday night for $48 plus tip in 2010. Couldn't tell you if this is a good car service or not as I am giving a review based on the customer service. Allow me to explain! When I called, it rang several times; on the 5th or 6th ring, I went to hang up and just as I did, a gentleman answered the phone. I immediately called back and apologized for hanging up and proceeded to explain the details of my trip. I gave the pickup location and after that I was asked what date I needed this done. I told him and then he said they were booked all and I didn't hear what he said after that. He stopped talking and I heard someone in the background and then I got hung up on. I waited a few minutes and I called back a 3rd time; I just wanted clarity on if they were booked the day I needed service or not. Around the 3rd ring, I got sent to voicemail. He didn't bother to pick up or finish explaining what he was saying when we were on the phone minutes ago. Again, I cannot speak to the actual service of their drivers, punctuality, etc. but when someone who is representing the company doesn't explain everything, hangs up and then sends you to voicemail, I would just elect to move on to another service that can not only start a conversation but can end it properly. read more

This is a long overdue review.....when my elderly parents were coming back from Europe this spring where they had been unexpectedly hospitalized, I could not get to DC (from NYC) to pick them up. I had to find a car service--working from online listings-- that could not only get them from Dulles and take them to suburban Maryland, but to be able to get their attention as they came through customs-they had no idea who, if anyone, would be there to get them. I spoke to Jay directly and explained the situation and he made a sign for them with their names on it--in extra-large letters, and took their descriptions from me so he would be sure to spot them. They were exhausted and tense from the trip but could not stop talking about how wonderful their driver (Jay) was....and how he refused to believe they were as old as I told him they were. I also needed to be at a business meeting 2 days later in Northern Virginia - beyond the metro. Based on the great Yelp reviews, I booked both trips on Jay's easy website. My flight was ultimately delayed 6 1/2 hours (!), but Jay kept in touch the entire time, monitoring its eventual arrival. So nice to be greeted by a smiling face and help with your luggage at the end of a nightmare flying experience. Jay was really great! His driver picked us up from IAD and brought us to our hotel in Rockville. The driver was waiting for us at baggage claim with a sign and was very professional. They had little bottles of water in the car for us, which was a nice surprise. On the way back to the airport from the hotel, Jay drove us himself in the town car. He was very polite and even waited to collect our money until the second trip because he wanted to handle it himself. I really appreciated him being on time, early even, polite, professional and both cars we were in were kept clean. What an awlful company. I made reservations. It was a disappointment from start to finish. The driver had bad body odor. The windows were filthy. I was overcharged considerably. My driver also got my party lost on my way from Dulles to Maryland. If I had to do it over. I would never use JAY's SEDAN SERVICE in the future nor would I recommend it to my worst enemy. I made a reservation with Jay's Sedan Service for an early morning pick-up in Ashburn going to Union Station... And a return trip several days later... Both ways, the driver was waiting on us, and both ways, we got an SUV, (a Lincoln Navigator, I think) even though we only needed a sedan... It was a free upgrade... The vehicle was in excellent condition, the a/c was cranking out cold air, and the driver was friendly... More importantly, he knew exactly how to get where we needed to go... Too many times with other services, that hasn't been the case... There was also water if we wanted it... If you want exceptional, on-time service in nice, well kept sedans, SUV's & limos, Jay's your man... If you want to go with the cheapest service out there, well, then you get what you pay for and you take your chances... I used this service for driving my mother around for her 70th birthday celebration. I checked with other companies, but this one was the most professional. The first vehicle arrived a little early and was very nice and clean. We were told there would be a change in vehicle due to a standing appointment with a customer. When we were finished at the first location there was a bump in the connection and we had to wait and I had to make a couple of calls to find out where our ride was. Thank goodness we had an air conditioned building to wait in. We linked up with the second vehicle and were off to the next destination. I was called and told there would be a different vehicle to pick us up for the return trip home. The vehicle was there, but the driver was visiting with other drivers in the area. He was very professional and cordial when we told him we were ready to leave. The last vehicle was Awesome! It was a Mercedes S class! Very nice. After the trip I was called to ask about our service and was even sent a follow up email as a thank you.
