2018-06 / June I drive a 2005 Chrysler that is now 13 years old. The odometer just turned over 100,000 miles... thanks to a short drive to the office the miles have accumulated slowly. The car's not fancy but is paid off and drives well... thanks to JB Auto. It's much better thanks to some recent repairs. They replaced the oil pan gasket, and now the small leak is gone from the garage floor (Goo Gone had cleaned the concrete just fine; I just wanted the leak to stop). That provided a side benefit that, removing the pan enabled all the oil and the grit and grime from the 100,000 miles to also leave the engine. Then we confirmed two of the three engine mounts were worn down, so JB replaced them, too. The car now runs and sounds smoooothe.... so nice. Thank you, JB Auto, for keeping the car running so well! 2017: Our car required no repairs for eight years, but a few these past couple years. After the last repair we explored trading-in for a new car. I wanted some more confidence in our decision. I knew J&B from driving past it, next to Ballwin City Hall, on a regular basis, but just hadn't called them until now. I explained that we just needed to make a "should we keep it or trade it in" decision. Grant helped get us scheduled quickly. Their review was a good one, thorough and competent. It happened to also provide good news... the car is incredibly solid now, and may just need a couple things as it approaches the 100,000 mile mark. That was comforting overall, and on the pocketbook. We look forward to returning to J&B as soon as we do need repair work and do recommend them to others, for their honesty and straight-forward way of making sure the cars we drive keep running. I drive a 2010 acura MDX which I wanted them to install license plate lights and fog lights on. After a give me a price of one hours labor which I had no problem paying they then brought me back saying that they would have to 1 take off the entire front bumper and to that they couldn't get to the ones in the back behind the license plate. They basically just did not want to do the work even though I was willing to pay the price and then outright lied to me about how it had to be done. I went to Dobbs and watched the guy install both sets of rights in 30 minutes. I should have known better when my mom brought her 7 series of here and they wrote her seat controls and just told her these things happen. I don't know where to start. When I first started taking my car here, I felt very welcomed and satisfied. One day, I brought my car in because my heat wasn't working. They said I would need a radiator and a new heating coil. I said yes to the coil and no to the radiator. THEY STILL put the radiator in, and expected me to pay the SEVEN hundred dollars for a part I did NOT want! Ridiculous! Now, not even a year later, my heat is broken again. I'd suggest buying a bike before coming here. read more

I'm not trying to write this to be mean just honest. I was driving back from the lake Sunday and my transmission overheating light came on. I got off the highway, parked, and checked the transmission fluid, it looked full and good. The light went away and I got back on the road. The lift never came back on but I decided I better get it checked out just to be safe. I made an appointment here on Monday for Tuesday at 12:30 which the woman on the phone said was fine because they had openings pretty much all day. When my boyfriend got there to drop my car off they said it would be at least a half hour before they could take my car back then another hour to run the diagnostic test. When I called over 2 hours later they were just taking my car back. When I called another 1.5-2 hours later they said my transmission fluid was burnt up and they needed to change and flush my transmission fluid which was going to be 3.1 hours worth of labor, they told me this at about 4:20 and they close at five. I asked if my car would be finished by five and they said absolutely. Now Idk about you but I'm confused why they wanted to charge me for 3 hours worth of labor when it was something they claimed they could get done in 30 mins, regardless at the time I wasn't complaining because I needed my car back and working. About 10 mins later, however, they told me they didn't have the right transmission fluid and the earliest they could get it would be Monday and that they had called around everywhere in the area to try to get it and they only place that sold it was the Mitsubishi dealership and it was too far away to get (I looked it up the Mitsubishi dealership is about 15 miles from this place). They said my car would be ok to drive short distances for maybe a day or 2 but no longer than that so I decided it would be better for me to just go get my car and make an appointment at the dealership. When I went to pick up my car I asked if I could get a price quote on what they wanted to do as well as a copy of the diagnostic scan. They gave me a quote but the woman at reception said the mechanic didn't run a scan he just drove my car around and looked at the fluid and said he could tell it was all burnt up. The next day I happened to be driving somewhere for work and noticed Bobs transmission and automotive service, I had a break in my schedule so I gave them a call and told them all about what had happened and what J.B. Tire and auto had said was wrong with my car, as well as the specific transmission fluid I needed and asked if they would be able to see me and if they had that specific fluid in stock. They didn't have the fluid but made a call and said it could be there in an hour if I wanted to bring my car by that day they could get it done by closing. They even gave me a ride back to the office. When I went to pick my car up from them I asked how the diagnostic test looked and if there was something more wrong with my car . They said the diagnostic test came back clear and they couldn't recreate the transmission heat light coming on. They also said my transmission fluid looked clean and full but they changed it anyway just to be safe and since I had asked them to regardless. They also only charged me $150 for all of this where as J.B auto and tire wanted $215. I will say I did appreciate J.B calling to check if the transmission fluid they wanted to use was ok rather than just doing it and messing up my car, and the receptionist was nicer to me than I probably deserved, but regardless I will not be coming back to J.B Auto and Tire and will be taking all my future business to Bob's Transmission and automotive and I suggest you do the same. read more

So. December 24th was a Saturday and I had just finished driving 10 hours the evening before. My engine light came on in the last 2 hours of my drive and I could feel some lagging issues, thinking the transmission was slipping or something. I called over 10 different places in Ballwin, trying to find anyone open. J.B. and one other were open. The other place refused me based on my assumption about the transmission. J.B. did not. They examined, diagnosed, and repaired the problem within about 2.5 hours, before they all had to go be with their own families. AND, it wasn't even the transmission! :) They did a great job and allowed this 'out-of-town' fella to get back home in a timely manner (Texas). I very much appreciate their quickness and courtesy! These people told my elderly mother they needed $800 to repair her car. The Ford dealer repaired the problem for $250. She didn't need all the repairs they tried to charge her for. read more
