A few times I've seen dead fish on the bottom of their tank. Which all of these are clear signs of extreme stress. I've seen you guys have put a under observtion paper on their tank. But I haven't gone back to petco recently so I do not know the current conditions of the goldfish. The bettas do look quite healthier than other bettas I've seen but still they're in bad conditions. Which is some progress. And the kois I've seen you guys have noted per koi is about 25 gallons if that was I remembered but I've seen at least a dozen koi in a about 15 gallon tank.was walking about the store the animals looked quite alright. He gave us a few options, but once he found out our setup was only a 3-gallon tank, he immediately changed his recommendation and suggested either one of two smaller options or simply letting the betta be the king of its castle. I also asked about getting a nerite snail, and instead of selling me one on the spot, he told me to come back in a few weeks because a new tank wouldn't have enough algae or biofilm for it to eat yet. That kind of honesty is rare. It's clear he genuinely cares about the fish and wants his customers to be successful, not just make a sale. Definitely recommend supporting this shop!
