As many times as I've passed by a JCP salon, never in a million years did I think I would be sitting in their salon chair. I booked a first time New Years weekend and was ecstatic when I was actually able to get an appointment at the time I wanted. I booked with Ericka and she was nice, friendly and welcoming. Not to mention she was gentle on my head. My main reason for visiting, was to get a trim, which I was in desperate need of, and didn't care how much needed to be taken off. It wasn't as bad as I thought, as least coming from a stylists opinion, so I only needed a 1" trim, which was way better than I thought. I just knew I was going to have to get a minimum of 3" trimmed. I'm satisfied with my cut and treatment, so I will be going back. read more

Hair was dyed horribly and the cut is completely uneven i paid about $180 for my service and now have to pay extra money to get it fixed elsewhere. Save your time and go some where else because now i have damaged and ugly hair that i have to fix elsewhere . I gave them call and the employee was rude and had no answers for me into fixing my hair. I asked if i could come in and they could remove the dye and fix my cut and she told me 'No' and was in no way trying to help fix their mistakes on my hair look. I asked her a few questions and no way did she try to help or elaborate on my questions all of her answers were ' No ' . Money wasted & Will never come here again! read more

Wow. I've never thought to even come here for any hair treatment before because let's face it, most of us just dont remember that there is a salon inside Jc Penney. Lol. But today i really needed a hair cut very badly! My hair stylist was fully booked and I just needed one done asap so i decided to call in first for availability. Called on a monday and was able to get a slot in. Jasmine did my hair today and though i was a bit skeptical just because im so used to my own hair stylist, that i decided to trust her. She spot on got everything i asked for and more! She did a simple hair cut 2 inches off, then added layers, blow dry and done. I feel so beautiful and my hair is soft and healthy again! Today I looked up a product online to purchase for pickup. Online it says "out of stock" but I called the salon to make sure and the woman who answered, confirmed they had 1 left and asked if she'd like me to hold it. I said yes but I'd like to confirm they will honor the online sale price wich was a $5.25 difference. She said she'd have to have a supervisor approval and I asked if I may speak to the supervisor myself on the phone to ask so that I don't have to use my (now more expensive gas) and go in first without confirming. They had me on hold a while, another woman got on the line but didn't offer to help. I said yes I'm still waiting for the supervisor and finally when the line ended the hold status it began ringing, and ringing and ringing to no one's answer. Did the salon close, did all the staff disappear? Or did they simply want to avoid my simple question by having a supervisor simply pick up the line and do his/her job in which I'm sure was a simple answer to my question. Is JC Penny Salon holding onto inventory? Do they want sales? The service here, I felt was not helpful and did not provide what could have been a simple confirmation. I'd rather go up the street now to Ulta Salon, even if I had to pay full price there. Thanks Staff at JC Penny Salon for showing how you provide service even on the phone so that I now know never to spend my money there or recommend you .... was 10 minutes long to wait?.. Not that long. Could I have just walked in? Yes.. but that wasn't the point... as a consumer who wants decent service and the best price especially at this time in our economy, I don't want to deal with a business that plays games, or avoids the service they should be able to provide. read more

Rather than cry about it around the corner where you *think* a client can't hear you then come back with an attitude and two other (white) stylists for backup, take the time to learn how to work with textured hair so you can build a portfolio and show you can deal with something other than 1a. Came in with an appointment, they seated me right away which was great but they weren't very welcoming on my arrival which kinda dampens the experience. The other workers don't acknowledge anyone either which was makes for a cold environment. I have naturally dark hair & had wanted caramel highlights and I ended up with blonde highlights! Eek! It looked amazing but not on me. The whole process took 3 hours & the stylist was nice enough to give me water & coffee. So that was nice but no magazines or tv to watch to kill time. Tried small talk but that didn't last long. It's been almost 2 months and I'm not feeling it still. Spent $100 on it and am now looking at another salon to get it fixed. Should have saved my money but at least I know what not to do in the future so that's a plus ;) read more

I know these workers saw me; I say workers because they were so unprofessional. The site said they take walk-ins and so I tried walking in. Stayed in the lobby for 30 min to almost an hour. Two cuts were done in the duration I waited and the workers obviously had to go to the register in the lobby. Not once did they even ask "how may I help you?" I even went up to the register next to the person paying and waited till they were done. What did the worker do after? Walk back in the salon like I was invisible; this happened TWICE. Mind you I didn't look poor, had a Nike flip flops, knee length shorts, and a long sleeves. What, did they think i was just there to loiter? I honestly only wanted a haircut. I didn't wanna try for a third time. I wanted to be petty, but I guess this review will be enough. read more

I was looking for an affordable place to do an ombré, and I decided JCPenney's salon was the way to go. I could not be happier with my results. Elena did an amazing job. She took her time with me, making sure I left satisfied. When I asked her to darken a portion of the ombré, she did not hesitate. She kept a positive vibe going the entire time. Very disappointed!! I guess the *free* kids haircuts mean you get what you DIDNT pay for!!!!! My 8 yr old daughter was crying for hours after her cut today. The lady botched her hair!!!! All we wanted was a trim and a few layers around her face, this "stylist" layers her whole head but a very crappy job! Looks like my 2 yr old grabbed scissors and cut the hair, ugh! Do not go to this salon very unprofessional people working here. My appt was at 11am (no curtousy call night before) and when I get there they can't find me in the system but then they did but under "12pm", and only had my daughter not my son. So they try to find someone to take us back and waited forever, finally when my daughter was done is when they told me they couldn't find my Sons appt and had to wait 45 mins again to get someone to cut his hair! This time the lady that did his was a lil nicer and apologized. All in all, I will NEVER go back to this place again! My "free" haircut is gonna cost me $$ now to get my daughters hair fixed!!!!! If I could give less stars, I would but can't. Terrible service. First off we sat waiting to just have someone ask us what we needed for 15 minuets, when we evensaw (my sister and I) the stylist make eye contact and notice us. Second they said it would be a 30 minuet wait, we signed in walked around and came back with PLENTY of time, we sat waiting to be serviced for 45 minuets and were told multiple time, "she's almost done" and "we'll be with you in a few minuets." All we needed to done is a cut and blow dry, something I find simple BUT I guess not to the professionals. I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE! Any one asking I will tell to not come. There is no communication or any kind of plan to get people through for easy services. I've currently been waiting for an hour for a cut. THIS IS UNBELIEVEABLE. read more

I wish i got the name of the lady who cut my hair but she did an amazing job! My kids hair was another story but they were great and fixed one of my daughters hair. Suzette was supposed to fix my oldest daughters hair but either didn't understand or did know how to handle her type of hair so after 2 trips to the salon my daughter ended up cutting her own hair and fixed it herself. Otherwise everyone was great! read more

Today I got the express cut Stylist was nice but when I went to pay Thinking it would be $22-$25 , she charged me $35. I have short hair. Got hair trimmed and left with it wet! Never again will I be back When I grabbed the price list that said $22 the stylist said Oh the price varies with stylist! Guess I'll never be seeing V again!!!!! read more

My wife wanted me to get a trim for the holidays, I'd been growing my hair out for rougly 9 months and the front was long enough to put behind my ears. So looking for a place to trim up the back a d even things out I ended up at JC Pennnys, I told the stylist I wanted the back trimmed up even with the sodes and front. Well I didn't immediately realize the damage because I left with my hair wet and still laying flat on my head but over the next half hour I realized she cut 3in off the front, barely touched the back and I left having BANGS. Went back and had another stylist "fix" the "beatles" cut, and now I'm set back 4-6 months in growing things out again. Thanks Pennys! read more

I am a fan of Yelp and reading the reviews before trying services like this. At first look a lot of the reviews we very negative. Then there were a few that were good. Long story short, I went in for a color and cut. I made an appointment thru Kim, who was very nice on the phone, and was give to Elena to do my hair, and she was great! Young and hip to the products and color. She listened to what I wanted, she knew that I was skeptical and that I was also looking for a new stylist. The NEW Manager was there and very plugged into the salon and the stylist. I think that the salon has been turned around and on a new path, give them a try. they have some good specials monthly as well. read more

The woman at the front desk was really curt and rude, my hairstylist (Vivian, maybe?) was a nice lady, but she was NOT good at cutting hair- she absolutely cut my hair so crooked! The left side was about 1 1/2 inches longer than the right! It was easy enough to fix myself once I got home, but it was nonetheless irritating. However I did get in and out of there in about 40 minuets, so that's a huge plus! read more

Came in for two kids cuts, one for my daughter and one for my son. Cuts were done well, Elana and Felicia treated us professionally and with respect. They were able to take us as walk-ins(whew!), so that is definitely a big plus as well. Love!!!! Elizabeth is the best! I drove all the way from Apple Valley because of Elizabeth's good reviews and photos. I was a little bit nervous because I had very long hair and I wanted to go pretty short. I also wanted a ombre but I wanted the color to fade into my natural color. I brought a photo for Elizabeth and she did my hair exactly like the photo! I am still so impressed with her work. We weren't able to go as light as I had wanted, but honestly I'm glad because my hair isn't damaged at ALL. Elizabeth was very careful with my hair, she took her time to make sure it was perfect and she was very reassuring. Not only was my hair exactly how I had wanted, but Elizabeth's attitude is super sweet. She brought me magazines to read while I waited, and made sure I was always comfortable, and offered coffee or water. Will definitely be a returning customer. I had scheduled an appointment for my wife at 10:30 am on Saturday at the JC Penney Salon for a special occasion. When my wife showed up for her appointment the stylist Breann was not there yet. My wife waited for 35 minutes after her appointment and the stylist still was not there. This salon is so disorganized that there was no communication if Breann was even going to show up. I called the salon several time but they did not pick up the phone ( poor service.) This was are first time trying the salon and it will be the last time too. Maybe it was a good think who knows if they know how to cut hair. I will not recommend this salon unless you what to waste your time there. If you do good luck..... I try to talk to the supervisor there but no luck. Maybe that's why there service sucks and their worker's do what they want. read more
