I love JC Penney, but, this Store is a complete messy, disorganized disaster. It seriously looks like a tornado hit the inside from one end to the other. No employees to help a customer. Obviously none to straighten merchandise or refold inventory. The store manager needs a clue. Corporate Office needs to take a look at this place.also store security should be added. Very helpful staff .. i had my wedding ring ordered 2 weeks before my wedding. The day it was supposed to be picked up my ring wasn't there. The manager by the name Venicia (sp) was super sweet and gave me a loaner ring to used until my ring came .. that was so sweet also teran was super sweet and helpful . Ring Order #1 April 1st: WORST WORST WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS SHIT SHOW OF A PLACE! JCP IS RAN BY INCOMPETENT SALES ASSOCIATES AND UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGERS WHO HAVE A COMPLETELY DYSFUNCTIONAL SYSTEM IN AND OUT! FIRST RING PURCHASE THE ASSOCIATE FROM MERCED ORDERED THE WRONG SIZE. I CALLED THE SAME DAY AND INFORMED HER ABOUT THE ERROR, BUT SHE INSISTED I WAS WRONG AND JUST CONFUSED BECAUSE I TRIED ON MANY RINGS. THE RING CAME IN AND IT WAS THE WRONG SIZE. WHAT'S EVEN BETTER IS IT COULDN'T BE SIZED UP ENOUGH THROUGH THEM AND THEY THREATENED MY INSURANCE PLAN WOULD BE VOID IF I TOOK IT ELSEWHERE. THEN THE MANAGER ADVISED TO JUST COME IN AND RETURN THE RING AND PURCHASE A NEW ONE TO FIX THE ISSUE. I GO IN, PURCHASE THE NEW RING AND BEFORE I EVEN GET HOME THE MANAGER CALLS TO TELL ME THAT ACTUALLY THEY NO LONGER SELL THAT RING. (THIS IS ALSO AFTER BEING BOUNCED FROM MERCED TO TURLOCK TO MODESTO!!!) We ended up taking it to a COMPETENT jeweler who fixed the original ring for additional $ but now I have NO insurance plan in tact. RING #2 December 13: We shopped around other jewelers DREADING to go back to JCP but could not find a matching band. Our last shot was JCP which coincidentally had the perfect band to match the ring. This time, we are in Turlock and informed the associate that we were very uneasy about purchasing because of the first shit show we went through. After speaking with her, she put as at ease and made us feel comfortable so we placed the order with her. It was supposed to arrive in two weeks. Two weeks went by and we received NOTHING. I checked the status online Saturday since it never arrived on Friday and it showed "cancelled," but they conveniently charged me for the jewelers protection plan still. I called the 800# and she stated it was cancelled from the distribution center because the coupon code provided was no longer available. WE NEVER WENT IN WITH A COUPON!!!! Basically they don't honor any sales that are going on in store (WHICH THE EMPLOYEE INSERTED HERSELF), don't care what the receipt shows, and don't have the COMMON DECENCY to notify you for shit if they cancel your ring order. Called the Turlock jewelry department and they told a different story. They said they were never notified that the order was cancelled and just found out today. Really? You found out the day after it was supposed to be delivered that it was cancelled??? And on top of that, her excuse was that the ring order was cancelled because "they were no longer manufacturing it." On top of that, she couldn't tell me who her own district manager was. This review is for the portrait studio. The photo session was very pleasant. I didn't get the employee's name but she did amazing with my girls. Loved how she interacted with them. We had a small window to take pictures and she captured great shots before my daughter had a meltdown. The pictures are a little bit more pricey than Picture People, but I feel the quality is better. I love this JCPenney location they are very nice and clean have all the latest trends they even have great parking always a spot to park which is awesome you don't have to walk so far to get inside the store; love getting all my perfumes at Sephora. I have a JCPenney's credit card so I'm always getting coupons and discounts; that help with the total costs of my purchases. read more

Not really a big fan of JCPenny but the only thing I like about this one is that they have a mini Sephora. The closest one to us besides this one is the one in Modesto at VIntage Fair Mall. In spite of the fact that it's small, it's very convienent for me to come here instead of driving all the way to Modesto. read more

This jcp is really nice with more options than most. It also has a sephora which is quite mini. They have enough selections to get what you need. However, the staff is less then helpful. It seems like the older staff members knew everything! But the other young ladies well...they just need a lot more training, and not act like idiots! After canceling and rescheduling multiple appointments due to me being sick, we finally made it in to take our first family photos. There was no long wait. And we even got taken in early! Daisyand Jen were working. My son, who is 6 months old, would NOT smile for anything or anyone. Lol but Daisy did not give up! She was so kind, patient and determined to catch good photos of my family. I really appreciated that. Jen also tried to help with making him smile. The pictures came out perfect! Even though he rarely smiled lol Jen checked us out. She showed us the photos and made a few fun adjustments to some. She explained the offers but was not pushy at all. We told her what we wanted and she made sure we got the best deal. I'm definitely happy with my experience and will be going back in the future. Especially now that we have the membership. Now we have our first family photos done, Christmas present to give out (the photos) and something to look forward to. Thanks ladies! read more

Took my niece to purchase her birthday Converse shoes that were on sale last Saturday. Her mom had a simple question about the sale price and the associate was rude and dismissive towards us. All he cared about was trying to get me to apply for a credit card (which I didn't want) and after taking her money, wouldn't even wait for me to move my sister's wheelchair out of the way before pushing us aside for the next customer. It's not like they were busy either, there was only one person behind us. Needless to say, I will not be back. Especially considering the way they treated my sister who is physically disabled. read more

My rating of one star is because I brought my grandmother to go shopping here today. I ran in to ask if they had a scooter or a wheelchair for my disabled grandmother and they told me they only have ONE wheelchair and it was being used. So with that being said my grandmother was bummed because she couldn't go shopping here because they didn't have enough equipment to have more than ONE disabled customer shop here. What a waste of time to shop here or to do returns. I shop in bayarea but i was in manteca so i thought to try it out. This place is messy and no customer service. Went to return and to buy stuff. The lady that was at the return register she didnt even acknowledge her customers. After 5 mins later i asked is there someone else to help, she looked at me and said the lady will be back in 10 mins. I asked if anyone else can help because some of us have been standing for a while she said no and just went on doing what she doing. Just rude. My mom and i had some stuff to buy also went to the register the cashier name JD was like you can do only 2 transaction at a time that is store policy. I asked to show me where its written he didnt even have anything. He also did not let me use jc penny gift card with jc penny credit card. Again per him its store policy. Bullshit not my first rodeo. This is the only store that did that no other store does that. The mgr was like that is how it works here . She was on the phone with the customer and phone them on hold to come and tell me that is just the store policy. Very rude way. This place is so ghetttooo . The layout of the JCP was nice and it was easy to spot designers and clothing however the one thing that got to me the most was the music. In different departments/sections they blasted their music.. that's fine.. I love to shop where there is good music BUT not when I hear 4 songs at one time. I admit i'm a cheapo so I hate spending money on high end clothing when i know it will be out of style or something will happen to it. I went the other day and they had $10 jeans and $4 shirts! We purchased a new refrigerator over the Memorial Day weekend and was told it would be delivered on the 5th of June as our main refrigerator in the house was going out. The sales associates were friendly and polite. I thought all was good and oh boy was I wrong. On the 4th no one ever called to schedule for delivery but by the time I caught it was already 6:30 ish so we called the 844#, well the recording said delivery on the 9th of June. We called the store to ask what was going on and Jake advised he would call us right back after calling the warehouse. Jake never called back so at 8pm we called back to the store but took more than 20 min to get someone on the phone and when we did she was beyond rude! She advised us that Jake was off at 7. We spent $1500 and got treated like crap, I guess what do you expect from a chain store that is the thing of the past. Well my saga didn't end there, we called the 844# back since we got nowhere with the store the gentleman advises this is on LG, he advised that the refrigerator was on back order and to call them tomorrow for answers since LG is in the east coast. Well I called LG the next day but the associate told me it arrived to the delivery company a day late (same day it was supposed to be delivered) and when I asked what that means if they have it why do I need to wait 4 days for it to be delivered and she hung up on me! I called the 844 # yet again, the associate this time was kind and said that LG shipped it out a day late which I can understand because then it needs to go through transit and then be scheduled with a delivery team. She isn't sure who gets the job to advise customers that their items are not arriving on time as I didn't receive any calls or emails pertaining to my very expensive purchase being delayed. I had ordered a polo shirt for my husband and received and email from them saying the shirt was back ordered but not for the refrigerator? ‍ I will not be back for anything major, clothes for the kids, pictures makeup but not a big ticket item. I know it's my fault as I should have stood my ground with my husband and purchased it from Lowe's but you live and learn. In the end I received it yesterday and the guys from the delivery company were very polite and moved quickly, I am thankful to have a new refrigerator that works and looks great but buyers beware if customer service had a look it would look just like the inside of this store a shit show and a half. read more

PORTRAIT STUDIO I started going to this Jcpenney portrait studio since May 2012 when my daughter turned 2 months old I had a bad experience at the sears portrait studio in tracy and found this location. I met Danielle at this studio every since I began going there she would take my daughters picture every month it was nice having the same person take these pictures and seeing the growth of your child Danielle was truly amazing so nice I'm sadden she was relocated . I had my son in February of 2015 I started doing his monthly pictures but even before having my son I would still take my daughter to get her bday pictures Christmas pictures etc.. with Danielle. When I took my son for his 1st month picture I was told Danielle wasn't there I continued the appointment anyway because I had already been going there I met the new manager I believe it's spelled Laney she was nice and took my baby's pictures on his 2nd month picture Danielle was there after I was told she wouldn't be there and Danielle took my baby's picture after that I was informed she was transfered to the portrait studio in Stockton. I still continued going here then on September 2015 I went in for my baby's 7 month picture I waited an hour and 15 minutes past my appointment time I had never had to wait that long to be seen even on a saturday never waited that long I had a birthday party to attend I canceled my appointment and left It took me some days to schedule again because I was not happy with the time wasted waiting so I rescheduled on a weekday I had told one of the girls I waited to long before and to please give me an appointment where the wait wasn't that long so she did I went back and I waited 45 minutes I had a toddler and a 8 month old with me it was very stressful during the entire session all I could think of is this is ridiculous I will not be coming back then in October I decided to give this studio another chance I scheduled our family pictures the wait was a little less but I felt the girl who took them was in a rush as a customer we want good pictures when I had viewed the pictures i was irritated that my daughter and son were looking different ways in different pictures I had to tell her to retake it and she seemed frustrated but she shouldn't have been rushing and she was also a bit rude to my daughter because for a moment she raised her voice at her when my 3 year old wasn't understanding her on how she wanted her to pose and as a parent nobody wants someone other than their parents to raise their voice at their kids I was almost not nice to her but I bit my tongue for the sake of my kid's then the girl kept putting my daughter in the back of our family picture it made me feel like she was not really including her so i had to make sure my kid didnt feel like an outkast. The girl was nice and all but her professionalism was not there I'm suppose to take my son for his 9 month picture which was the beginning of November and I'm dreading to go this is the closest place to where I live in manteca but I'm thinking of making the drive to where Danielle is at because I just don't even like this particular studio anymore. read more

Don't ever get your appliances from JCPenney. I just had to wait on the phone for over an hour for a refund. Delivery men came refused to install my dishwasher and refused to take away my old equipment. I paid for both services. After refusing the delivery men got in their truck and left without leaving my appliances. There was 2 hours left in my delivery window but still refused to make the delivery until 4 days later. JCPenney did not help or offer any solutions. Second time I've had problem with appliances with this company, first time they had to discount me 3 times to keep my order. My wife suggested we go to JCPenny to have pictures taken of our baby girl, I would have never thought of going to JCPenny for that, but I'm so glad we did! We first went for her 2 month photos almost a year ago, then for her 6 month photos, and today, for her 1 year photos. We are so pleased with this service they provide! Our photographer was Danielle and she was great today, and with the two previous times.. We always get great photos, lots of photos with cute poses and backgrounds, and she's so professional and great with our little girl. We love the lighting, great picture quality, and the photo background things they use on the computer. I think we spent something like $200 for the sitting, and all the photos, we could not be happier, thank you Danielle and JCPenny! read more

Nice store..horrible customer service. ..spent 45 minutes yesterday at checkout while the team lead tried to figure out how to fix a transaction a new checker messed up on.. Back story. ..Christmas shopping. .was buying over 300 plus worth of merchandise. .had my 3 year old with me. Only had 300 in cash and wanted to pay rest with my atm.. Commenced the 45 minutes fiasco. .the bummer thing..I thought she would have offered a coupon for their incompetent. ..ugg...nothing. ..needless to say..hoping someone in upper management reads yelp and can instruct the manager on duty to remember you don't make a customer stand at check out for 45 minutes with a toddler and not offer zero! This review is for the portrait studio. I took my 13 year old son in and wasn't too impressed. The photographer was nice, but some of the pictures she took were too dark. SHe did take a lot so I had plenty to choose from. While I was waiting for my pictures to upolad on the computer, the photographer/manager got a phone call. I'm assuming it was another employee because she started talking about how sales weren't good that day and how the previous people before me only bought $20 worth of pictures with a coupon they had. AWKWARD! Because I was about to use the SAME coupon for my pictures! That was completely rude and unprofessional and she was saying it loudly as for me to hear. SHe was basically complaining about how little amount of pictures the previous couple bought. I hate that they create a bunch of expensive collages hoping you'll perchase them, even after you tell them you're only interested in traditional sheets. Horrible experience from the website to the store. Ordered items online that the store did not have in stock on Dec 2, 2014. Told they would be shipped to the store in 7 days. After no emails or phone calls I stop by the store on Dec 18, 2014 to see where my order is. First person tells me it was damaged, so I tell them I should have been notified by email or a call and my money refunded. So I ask for a refund, and she needs a manager. The first manager comes over and then tells me it was back ordered instead. Once again I state why did I not receive any form of notification, and I would like a refund then. She tells another associate to call the online number and process the refund and then leaves. No I am sorry, no anything else I can help you with extra... Just walks off... The associate on the phone then comes to me and tells the online people state it was shipped on Dec 4, 2014, so they could not process the refund on their end. So now I ask for the General Store Manager. Some other manager (not the Store Manager) comes over. She tells me they are looking for the item. I tell her my story from the beginning and state once again I just want a refund. I also ask her for the Regional Managers number at this point. She comes back with the generic corporate number, and I state once again I asked for the Regional Manager's number. She tells me they do not have a Regional Manager, instead they call them Distric Managers. I tell her they are all the same as every Retailer calls them something different, but she surely should have known what I meant.... So she finally goes and gets me that number. Over 45 mins wasted just to get a refund, and a phone number... Horrible run around, bad customer service, and terrible communication on all parts of JC Penny's. read more
