When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by one of the stylists who happened to be at the front desk. Lashelle took me back to wash my hair - she was so gentle and thorough, especially because my scalp is on the drier side during the winter. My hair was long and I wanted to cut a good chunk of it (several inches). When it came time for my haircut, she took her time and made sure it was exactly how I wanted it. She added the many layers, and took her time blowdrying and styling it to showcase the layers. When she turned me around, I wasn't expecting the overall hairdo as I just wanted a simple blowout. I was amazed - I loved it! She made me look and feel amazing. I am overall so pleased with my experience, and I may just have to make the drive back out to see Lashelle the next time I'm looking to make a big chop again!

Since I was in the area to care for a family member, I took the opportunity to spend some available time looking human again. Ozzy helped me. It's amazing how a color and cut service can boost morale. I've sat on many hair chairs and there are a very few that can do it all - Ozzy is one of them. He preps properly before brushing on the hair color. The color mix blended seemlessly with my existing shade. His hair massages during shampoo and conditioning were spa-grade. I almost drooled. The cut I wanted I got and when I finally washed my hair, there weren't any uneven areas. Thumbs up. His blowdrying/styling skills gave my hair life for 3 days. And I needed those days to focus on my family member. Much appreciate. Fun fact I was fortunate to meet his daughter and he manages/styles her hair. First off she is beautiful. My newly trimmed ends felt dry and brittle. I washed my hair at home the same day only to find my hair was uneven from the trim. I was charged $85 she didn't charge me for the color. Jacinta's natural ability to connect with her clients while you're in her chair is another reason why I continue to go back. They rescheduled me for 3 hours after my initial appointment but then the manager of the beauty school called me to say I could come earlier so I was there 10 minutes after that. Also, besides the error with my appointment, the woman at the front desk was not super apologetic or welcoming at all. When I came back the second time, she did not say hi. I definitely think she could benefit from customer service training. The all over relaxer was $44, trim/haircut was $11 (comped for me because of the appointment error), deep conditioning was $7, and there was a $5 charge for the density of my hair and $5 charge for my hair length. Charging for density and length of hair is a little annoying but those are their policies. Kaci was so amazing I might just go to her next time and not the beauty school. She is the perfect example of the type of stlyist anyone would want to work with. Her energy is amazing and she is very talented. I called several times, but no one answered. Finally, someone picked up, and I told the receptionist I had booked a hair appointment for 3/12 at 5:30pm, which included my daughter. I also mentioned that I left a comment section requesting that we both get our hair done. The receptionist said okay and claimed she noted it for both of us on 3/12 at 5:30pm. On 3/12, my daughter and I arrived for services. The receptionist only recorded my daughter's appointment and I told her I was also getting my hair done. I explained I called to confirm and reminded her that my daughter is owed a trim from the last paid service. She looked confused, so I asked if she understood what I was saying and showed her proof from the previous receipt with the manager on duty's signature. About ten minutes later, I voiced my concern to the manager on duty. She said it was okay, and I could still get my hair done, then she went to the back. While waiting in the area, I talked with other clients in the waiting area. The manager came out and said she heard there was some controversy and that no one could request a student because this is a school and all students need to have a chance. She then asked to speak with me outside. First, she accused me of being irate with the receptionist-- which was untrue. If asking questions makes me irate, then I was. If she takes an innocent question as irritation, that's her issue, not mine, and I don't feel guilty. Second, she claimed I posted a bad review online, which was false. If I disliked the service, I wouldn't have returned. I then asked her to show me the negative review she says I wrote. She came back and said the student left but she saw the review herself, which is now gone. It was never there because I never wrote it, ma'am. If I did, then it's clear she can't handle criticism. Not everyone is a good stylist. If someone feels they didn't get good service, they have a right to write their truth, and the manager should accept it and move on. The third false claim was that I said I didn't want certain stylists to do my hair because they were playing with my hair and did a poor job. I told her that was another lady, not me, and I detailed these accusations-- three in total--and I am offended. She then tried to change the language and said she was just asking questions, but those were outright accusations without proof. Throughout the conversation, one of her focused on professionalism. But what professionalism did she display when she was constantly accusing me? The worst part is that she doesn't think she was wrong. To the manager, For the record, ma'am, I don't need any services from this school. There are other hair schools and salons nearby. I didn't do any of the things you allege I did. I am writing this review today because this experience was well deserved (no stars if I could). You are not a professional. The receptionist is upset because I told you what happened, and you and she fabricated stories--saying I was irate, that I posted a bad review, and that I said someone was playing in my hair and did a bad job. Girl, bye! There are better places out here with better customer service.

We were fully prepared to pay for quality work. She expected over $300 for the service and was ready to tip about the same. She factored in processing time, toning, even test strands if needed. With her starting point and today's hair trends, this should have been a straightforward appointment for any experienced colorist. Instead, she spent five hours in a chair watching her hair get worse in real time. A shadow root was attempted and applied so poorly it looked almost black against her blonde and had to be corrected. Her hair was then highlighted in multiple rounds, and somehow still ended up yellow, brassy, and completely untoned. At no point did the result resemble the reference photos she brought in. Iman told her he "can't make her hair thicker," which had nothing to do with anything she asked for. She never requested thicker hair, she requested color placement. That comment honestly felt like the theme of the entire appointment: not listening, not understanding, and then reframing the confusion as if it was coming from her. When I came in, this happened again and they basically tried to blame her not being clear which offended me greatly as I know she had the reference picture ready to go. I would have respected it more if the stylist just admitted she messed up, instead of blaming it on my wife. Billy, a senior stylist, told her she should just do it herself. That alone should tell you everything about the level of professionalism here. She was also told her hair didn't match the reference because it wasn't styled, which is an unbelievable excuse when the issue was color, tone, and placement, not curls and volume. She was even handed a color book mid-appointment as if she hadn't already provided clear visual references. There was no manager on site when she asked. By the end, she left with yellow, uneven, brassy hair that didn't resemble her starting point or her request in any way. She went to another salon afterward, where they were immediately confused by what had been done and suggested corrective work. The entire experience felt disorganized, dismissive, and careless. She came in ready to pay for professional results and left with something she wouldn't have expected from a beginner trying it at home. We did not pay for the service, and we will not be returning. The most frustrating part is how easily this could have been avoided with basic honesty at the start. If this was outside their skill set, that should have been said before five hours of trial-and-error damage control.

She said she is more familiar with blow-dry so I said ok. She ended up cutting more than expected like a lot more and said it needed a trim. I specifically said very small trim and she said ok, I barely touched it, but somehow afterwards it was a lot shorter. After a year later, my hair was not even at the length it was when I got there. Also, it was weird that she tried to say we were done after a blow-dry and I had to basically repeat a few times that the straightening was included in the price she discussed so why was she saying we were done if she hadn't done it. I had to ask a few times to straighten it which I thought was common sense and then I had to even ask again for some type of body since I had originally asked for a blow out and she went from completely straight now with no bump at the end or anything like straight down and barely look like you went to a hair salon. After I had to ask to add some type of curls or waves and maybe that would help her get body, she tried that and it helped a little but at that point, the hair was much shorter and barely had some curls. Once I came in she actually recommended doing partial highlights instead, since it would be healthier for my ends (which were still dyed from the last balayage) but still grow out naturally. Her advice was honest and appreciated, especially since it would have made her more money to just do the balayage! But she genuinely cares about the health of your hair and is incredibly knowledgeable. Studio is clean, friendly, and welcoming as always!
