I love finding bargains and I always find some at JCPenny. After Christmas, I went on the JCPenny website to look for clearance and sales items. I found a pair of sleep pants that were $6 marked down from the original price of $34. I ordered them online and picked them up from the store in Woodfield so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping. I came to get a hair treatment and a blow dry. The treatment was only 5 minutes and I didn't like the blow dry. I had to tell her how and he charged me $40 for the pre-dry and $30 for the treatment. I asked to speak to the manager and he said they didn't have any. read more

Curly girls beware of this place. I came here for a haircut because my long hair was too much to take care of. Marie was the one who cut my hair, and if I were at the salon to make friends, then she'd be a great friend to have. We got to know each other and she was such a great person to talk to. However, when it comes to the actual haircut, that's where Marie missed the mark. I told her that I want my hair a little past my shoulders, like her hair length. I also remember she asked me if I wanted layers and I said no. But guess what happened? She cut it too short AND she gave me layers. Initially when I saw the haircut I thought it looked alright, but once I got home and looked at it again, I saw that she didn't listen. Now I have a short ugly haircut. I was really hoping to have a fun time dating this summer, but after this haircut I may have to wait a little bit before I start dating again. read more

I stopped in here to buy some hair product (I'd have my first haircut in IL somewhere else and while I was happy with the haircut, not really the stylist). The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and nice, and while ringing me up, they ended up mentioning that they thing I would love James. I stopped back to ask some questions after buying some shoes, and got to meet James. I asked when I could book a haircut and he had time for me right then. We hit it off amazingly, and he gave me full foil highlights. I absolutely love them, I think he did a really great job with the color - though some of the placement of highlights isn't perfect (I only have one red in my bangs, on one side). On a scale of 1 - 10 on how big a problem it is, it's like a .25. I noticed 3 weeks later, was slightly annoyed, but I LOVE my highlights, and I plan on going back for a haircut soon. At every salon, some people are great and some aren't. I found James to be a knowledgeable and fabulous professional who gave me great service for a reasonable price. My credit card number was stolen Monday at the salon checkout at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL and fraudulently used later that evening at other stores in the mall. The store supervisor and corporate customer service representative have acted unconcerned with no follow through on looking into this further. Has this happened to anyone else? It would be really easy to see who used the number at the other shops. This would be one star for how unresponsive the staff has been, but it gets a second star because I like my haircut I received. Too bad I can't trust the shop to go back! read more

This is a very reasonably priced salon. I think its a good place to go for a quick cut, but I wouldnt really recommend it for a color job. Its a nice salon but the people at it sometimes seem a bit confused. read more

I finally found a knowledgeable and dependable salon! I would highly recommend, my stylist Jeni does a great Job and all of the staff is friendly and welcoming. They keep up with the latest hair trends and are also very good with up-dos, coloring, and cuts. read more

I have been going to the same stylist at Woodfield Mall for 25 years! In fact, Kathy W. gave my oldest son, who just turned 25, his first "big boy" haircut! Prior to my going to her, she took care of my mother and grandmother when they wanted to get their hair "done". The salon is always clean, the equipment working properly (hot water in the sinks!), the receptionist is great at making and, if necessary, changing appointments. I'm not kept on hold forever when I call. I even get a reminder call when I have an appointment coming up in case I forgot. The interactions I've seen between the stylists is always friendly and they seem to enjoy working there. If I have any issues with JCP it would be the prices for coloring and perms -- but, of course, I haven't been elsewhere to really compare! Since I'm older (and getting grayer) I find I need more frequent appointments and that can really add up. As a suggestion, to one of the other people who commented here, if you find a stylist you like, be sure and ask her who you should go to if she is not available. She will know which stylist would work well with your hair type and what you want done -- this way if you should need a cut when your "regular" is on vacation, you will not be rolling the dice with someone completely new. read more

I have been going to "my" stylist at JCP for quite a few years, I have followed her from Golf Mill to Randhurst and now to Woodfield. Her name is Mary G. She is not only extremely skilled, experienced but most of all, an unbelievably compassionate person. As I age, I have more difficulty in getting around, Mary goes over and above making sure that I am comfortable and safe. She is one in a million. I do not know why I did not write this sooner, it is actually long overdue! read more

I have gone to this salon on and off for four years. I am bi-racial and I've had two stylists who did great jobs relaxing my hair. This past Sunday I returned and had Peggy do a relaxer before I was having surgery. I had hope to have no fuss hair while I recovered. My hair felt the same when I left as it did when I came out. I was very disappointed when I called her to ask what happened and she said, "It wasn't 'smooth smooth' but it was smoother than when you came in. She was a very nice woman but she had a timer going and I don't think she left the relaxer on long enough, nor did she go through and smooth the wavy parts of my hair. I paid for a flat iron and she didn't take the time to go through and flat iron my hair all the way through. She might be better with other types of hair, but I will not be running to return to this salon. read more

The first time I went here I loved the way they cut my hair. However, when I went the next time I got a totally different stylist. The other one who cut myu hair before stopped working at this location. So, I didn't like how the 2nd stylist cut my hair. Since then, I have not gone back to this place. read more

Let me start off by stating I am a teacher and grade for a living. I take my job seriously and am considered a "tough" grader. That said, I am giving JCPennys the best possible rating because throughout the years their service is hands down PERFECT. I mean that. I had my wedding registry there 10 years ago and when I dry cleaned my bed set, the set did not hold up in the cleaning. Pennys reimbursed my dry cleaning and gave me a new set. I bought a mud room bench and hook set and the bench cushion wore after one washing, they kindly exchanged the pad for a better pad. Finally, just today, I had been eyeing Linden Street Antique Vanilla dining chairs but held off because I was trying to see if I could get them cheaper. Unfortunately, they have limited pieces and I can no longer order a set of arm chairs online... Only side chairs. I wanted 4 side chairs, 2 arm chairs. I called the catalogue desk at Woodfield and they gave me the Kansas City number. The person in Kansas City called furniture at Woodfield and the representative, Betty went above and beyond to locate arm chairs in in their warehouse in Milwaukee. She helped me withthe price (talked to her manager) and shipping costs and my 6 chairs were ordered over the phone. I have a three year old and didn't need to deal with packing us up to get the chairs. I LOVE PENNYS..... read more
