Ordered an engine and it was delivered pretty quick! Finally got to installing it and at first crank it started and sounded super healthy! Not a check engine light in sight! I do have to warn that not all the cable included are the same as stock, so you must check everything before installing just makes it easier with the engine out, but once it's in you're good to go Will definitely be buying my next engine from them thank you! read more

April 2, 2019 *Update Instead of owning up for their mess ups, they claim my harness is messed up. LOL I guess I have to upload your text? not one time in our transaction was there a problem about my harness that was purchased from Steve at HMO and we all know their creditability is more vouch able than your small time shop. I'll upload the so-called "bad wiring harness". That was used to install. There's not one single wire cut, frayed or missing. Obviously you don't read reviews because not only did I state I took it to not ONE but TWO (one being a honda dealership) they both said the same thing #4 cylinder is NO GOOD! Anybody can put a video up after inserting oil in a cylinder to increase a cold start compression. Yes we checked that too lol. CHECK MY PHOTOS FOR THE WHOLE REVIEW!! Bought a motor a while back from this company (August 2018) and have had nothing but trouble with them along with the hassle of towing from facility to facility. Luckily this is not my daily or I would have went to small claims. I'm not trying to sound vague and make this so limited because I actually did write a full review. My transmition was fixed and i picked up my car on 4/29/2025. I then took my car to get other repairs done as they would not be able to fix it. When my car was being fixed the mechanic stated the transmission was bad and to call the mechanic who put it in because they had a warranty. When I did the mechanic stated they were not going to cover it because the other mechanics ruined it . I explained to them that they knew that my car needed extra work and was going to be taken to another mechanic for that, plus it was new it should not have any.problems and that we paid 2500 for a new transmission with a warranty from them, which was still under the time frame to be honored but they are refusing to fix it . So we now have to pay again for a new one to be put in. Which will be another 2500 since they refuse to put i. A new one all they wanted was to pay to put the car on a diagnosis check . Which was ridiculous!!! There a transmission shop what they don't fix anything other !!!! read more

Unfortunately bought an engine with them. After installing it and seeing that the engine was already burning oil we decided to go and exchange it since it was still under warranty. They decided to send their mechanic out so he would check the car. After checking the engine he stated that it was the spark plugs. We told him we changed it and then stated it was another issue not due to the engine. We specifically told him we had change everything new. They wouldn't offer us no help or exchange. After driving it for awhile the engine still kept on burning oil a lot and we were forced to get another engine from elsewhere. They kept on giving excuses on how it was something else and not the engine. Can't expect much from a sitting engine unused for who knows how long. read more

Went in for and engine swap website stated they had a b18 and they sold me a b20 because they said it would be much better well boy did I have more problems then the engine before. I really thought these guys were helping me out but they made my life a living nightmare. Paid 950 for the engine and 1k to install and still have problems I could have bought another 99 integra. I bought a JDM replacement engine and transmission (sold together) for my 1999 Mazda Miata on June 24, 2023. I installed them mid-July in my car. Thus far, I am very satisfied with my purchase. The staff at JDM West Coast (Jonathan) was responsive to my questions, requests (compression numbers) and needs. The engine/transmission shipped when promised and was what I anticipated (was sold) upon arrival. Installed, the engine & transmission have exhibited normal behavior; in fact, as I do track days with this Miata, the powertrain have been put to a significant test (at 100 degree Fahrenheit temps) and performed well. Great experience here, I bought a d17 motor for my 2002 civic ex coupe after the head gasket was failing. I got a great price for everything installed etc. I brought my own oem timing belt water pump coolant and oil filter and oil. Was $1100 for everything done which was pretty good. I even got my old motor back and sold it off. I waited about 4 months before I reviewed in case something is up with the motor but it's great and no leaks etc. drives and sounds perfect still. Make sure you bring your own timing belt water pump coolant and oil and spark plugs because they need to change that stuff out to make sure the new motor will be reliable and last you a long time, especially since it is easier to do the work on a pulled motor. I would recommend these guys if you just want a reliable cheap daily car. Cheaper than buying something new. read more

These guys rock. My 2009 Nissan versa is a very heavily modified tuner car with 150k that was blowing a code we couldnt get rid of. JDM West Coast installed a new, 40K engine in just a few days. Total cost was far less than I was expecting. I got a high performance clutch shipped to them before I dropped off the car and they installed it at no extra cost as well as new heater hoses (easy when the engine is out). They also were very understanding with the many unique aspects of my car. Will come back in a couple of years to swap again! read more

Had a 97 4runner 3.4 V6 motor installed last year, and I paid extra to redo the valve covers, timing belt, rear main seal redone as the motor was out of the car and easily accessible. paid about $2,400 total. I drive my 4runner very little only on my yearly family trips to Idaho, the valve covers pored out oil from the half moons, and new seals. I spent about 4 hours to redo the seals myself, and then on top of that they never fully torque one of the oil pan bolts to the rear of the engine block. that poured oil out as well to the point I had to cut my trip short. I spent an additional 6 hours to remove the "pos used oil pan they installed" looks like they drop the motor on it" with a new oem pan. I contacted JDM and they wanted to change me 1k to remove the engine and install a new seal. the bolt was literally half way in, I have pictures of the oil pan and you can see part of the rear pan was never compressed when the bead of rtv was placed. also they used the wrong type of sealant, it should of been Toyota black sealant, they used some brittle gray stuff. ask me for the pictures and I will provide them..... read more

I blew a head gasket in my 98 4runner (5vz-fe) that had 275k miles. I shopped around and found that it was cheaper to just get a JDM motor. These guys said that they were booked and wouldn't be able to complete the job for another 2 1/2 weeks. I dropped it off and a week later it was done. The price was cheaper than other places in the area. Out the door for the motor + Labor, $1,780. The truck runs better than ever. I would defiantly return. Granted, I've only had my truck back for about a week but they do give you a 90 day warranty on the motor. You can believe I will be back on here if something goes wrong, but as of now, I am very happy with this purchase. read more

Don't trust them, don't waste your time and money, don't have them install the engine for you, they will break every single clip on your engine, fuel injectors clips and coil clips along with others, I repair my car myself so I know they were fine. They told me the Acura engine will fit my accord to make me pay $300 extra, I doubted it and they guarantee it will work and even proudly say they are the only shop knows how to make them compatible, gave it a try since they have good reviews, one and a half month later got my car back, my car was not running smoth at all, hesitate and stalled on freeway twice, 3 times on the street due to the engine was not compatible, lucky there was no accident, they were blaming the gas, spark plug, fuel pump and told me go to the shop to get a full diagnosis, I asked them to pay for the diagnosis fee if there is nothing wrong besides the engine but they disagreed, I checked the fuel pressure myself and sent them videos to prove, spent so much time to deal with them and they finally asked me to drop off the car again and admitted they were wrong 1 month after, I went to their warehouse more than 10 times in 3 months since day one, they told me 1 month warranty left when I got my car back with the regular engine and refused to honor the 3 months warranty but they had my car most of time in the past 3 months, also refused to refund the extra I paid for the acura engine. They contact me and ask me to remove the reviews on google by paying me $300 and still believe the Acura engine work with Accord but couldn't explain why my car hesitate and stalled so many times, even told me they were doing me a favor without charging me the labor for installed the correct accord engine, Jesus Christ. Forgot to mention, they installed burns out spark plugs in the engine when I got the car back, DON"T TRUST THEM. read more

My EJ255 was dying and they swapped it for a EJ20X with ~55K miles on the engine. They are awesome people and very patient no matter how many times I called asking for an update on my car. Took a while to get my car back but it was not a big deal. I did not want to have to waste time finding a place to rush, perfection takes time. Sadly I did waste a day to drive there when they said they would have the car ready and it was not. But they did not know the hose would rip while test driving it; things happen unexpectedly and I got the car back in great working condition. They charged a fair price and cheaper than compared to the places around me. I would HIGHLY recommend this place, you will not regret it.
