The staff never gave me any silverware and they know by now that their pizza falls apart when u pick it up. Some of the ingredients on the pizza tasted very generic. First time at JD's and Melina was the best! Pizza is always a hit here, but the chicken tenders were the surprise of the night. I got them with the Chili sauce and some ranch to dip. Loved it! JD's stays open later than all of the other nearby places for food. If you are looking for late night eats, this is your spot. My friend had the French Onion soup and she liked it. I also had a Grilled Chicken sandwich. It was good. In hindsight, I wish there was a little more chicken in it. I took most of it to go and thought of that the next day. The meatballs were burnt and inedible. The appetizers, fried zucchini...was like soup with skin and the fries with cheese and bacon...almost no cheese and bacon at all! Called to order food and their shitty host picks up the phone and goes "hold" and put the phone down on the counter, walks away and forgets that she had customers on the phone. it was nice to hear her. Tell everybody that was leaving the restaurant that she loves them so much and it was nice to hear the three songs on their playlist that is blasting through the entire restaurant. The food sucks for the most part. I got the stuffed shrimp they are tiny and they were soaking in this really lemony juice on the bottom of the container the rice was bland and the broccoli was not fresh it was turned brown on the crown. I took pics. My family got pasta ala vodka which looked good and said it was good. And my bf got the fish and chips and the fish was cut up into pieces and fried and was a very small portion. The fries were good but soggy bc they didn't poke holes in the container so the condensation was horrible. The soup chicken and rice .. was salty. The bread was good . The lady that took our order was very friendly and helpful in helping me decide what to get. The prices are way too high for what you get. It wouldn't be bad if they made the food right or at least gave better portions. I couldn't believe 25.00 for tiny shrimp that were so lemony that I couldn't taste the shrimp or anything else but lemon and the shrimp were over cooked also. With that said, the food here is incredible, the owner Jimmy and his entire staff, including Irene and Angela, are so professional and friendly and the prices are more that affordable. The overall atmosphere is very comfy and our every dining experience has been more than pleasant. Their menu items are varied and diverse but I must say that their Grecian pizza as well as their Chicken Princess are two of the best dishes you can order. Have eaten at JD's maybe 300 times over the past 25 years and each time have had the same succulent dish -- veal parm and ziti. To my palate it is beyond delicious -- it is an exquisite taste experience that never in 25 years has disappointed. The secret lies mostly in the tomato sauce, a home recipe, slightly sweeter-than-most, a blend that enlivens every morsel. It helps that the veal is always fork-tender, and yet real veal, honest-to-goodness calf's meat, not the veal loaf you often get elsewhere. Thank the Lord that JD has not changed its tomato sauce recipe while otherwise upgrading its menu over the years. A recent addition I have come to love is their French onion soup, not the usual accompaniment to an Italian dinner, but way too good to pass up (and included with the entree). I was invited by past co-workers to meet at JD's for pizza & beer so we could catch up. We've done this in the past a couple times and I've had the wings which are pretty good. I heard that JD's was very dated and in bad shape before they remodeled. The remodel was tastefully done. The bar is beautiful, plenty of tv's, stone accents that divide the bar from the dining room, and exposed brick walls. The atmosphere is really nice. The waitress needed a little pep talk to let her know that if she sees a pitcher of beer that's empty, she should get us another one or at least ask us if we need anything. Now for the pizza. For starters, I'll admit I'm not a fan of Greek pizza. It's just my preference to like real Italian pizza because the crust is an Italian bread dough and Greek pizza crust is more like an American bread dough. But the pizza at JD's is simply a bad version of Greek pizza. The dough, the sauce, and the toppings tasted terrible. We were there from 5:00-8:30pm and I didn't see anyone in the dining room. Besides the tables we had in the bar area, there were maybe 5-6 people sitting at the bar drinking. No food though. They did a wonderful job remodeling the dining area. When JD's informed us they could not offer a gluten-free option aside from a salad, we found a new location and called them to cancel the reservation with over a weeks notice. When I told them we were canceling, the person who answered the phone told me I was "ridiculous" and that next time they were going to charge me a ".. you know.. a... uhh.. down payment.. that we can't refund"... I believe they meant a deposit... Anywho.. this place is not at all friendly, nor accommodating. Also their email address doesn't work, their website is antiquated, and their menu is nothing special. THE FOOD: I ordered penne allavodka and it was horrible. The sauce was watery and the pasta was mush my wife had a caesar salad and it was soggy and horrendous . We didn't even want to take the left overs. Everything we ordered was terrible outdated food, the wings were cold and chewy and the mozzarella tasted stringy and bland, best way to describe it is a cheap version of a grocery stores cheese in a block. Just terrible food and overpriced for what you receive THE DECOR AND ATMOSPHERE: outdated and dark. I felt as if I walked into an old house that dogs and cats lived in, or a funeral home.From the lamps to the chairs and the tables it just gives you almost a depressed feeling when you leave. Maybe it's dark to hide what your eating. GET OUT OF THE 60s and step into the 21st century, the carpet stinks and looks as if a pack of cattle had trampled over it. Maybe that would be good for them that way they could kill one and get some fresh meat. Like I stated above this is something you would expect to see Gordon Ramsay coming to so he could attempt to fix it, yes it's that bad. I have a wonderful pallet and I know good food.
