The atmosphere is great. Deck is well setup. I ordered the seafood platter and the cod smelled so bad of ammonia. My friend got the same and with the same results. The shrimp and scallops were good. But when they told us that is what cod smells like that's were I was upset... They took it off the bill but I was too discussed to eat anything else. Mediocre food with poor service. Came in on a slow night and were seated right away, which was nice. We sat for about 10 minutes before the waitress showed up and said "are you ready to order?". Okay then. I ordered the fried fish sandwich and my friend ordered the cowboy burger. Our food came out really fast, less than 10 minutes. And yet our food was cold. My friend enjoyed his burger, my sandwich was not bad. The coleslaw was bland and the tartar sauce was terrible (way too much salt and lemon juice), both of which are minor grievances but the mold on my bun was a little more discouraging. I would have said something except the waitress didn't come over to check on us or even offer refills on our beverages until long after we finished eating, so I just pulled that half of the bun off and sauntered on. Overpriced. Dry shrimp. Just not good all around. :( We couldn't believe the price. For two of us it was over sixty dollars and we weren't getting anything fancy. We had spinach and artichoke dip appetizer which was given to us with stale chips and way too much cold cheese on the top. Service was mediocre, and we weren't checked on too much. I wandered into John Dough's because it was afternoon and I was overdue for lunch. The hostess was a bit of a space cadet (she didn't know if we could bring our pets in or not (the answer was yes)). I ordered a fried cod sandwich, and my friends ordered grilled catch of the day (swordfish), and lobster rolls. The fried cod was awesome, and flaky and fresh. The bread left a bit to be desired, it was a bit hard, as if it was from yesterday or the day before. The waiter, Jamie, was awesome and very helpful. They also serve sushi, pizza, and lobster rolls, which is an interesting, if not somewhat frightening combination, but given my other positive experience, I'd try it again. read more

We've been here twice this summer. Food is good but not huge portions, good for a small meal with some drinks. They also have a good happy hour with $1 oysters and you can sit on the deck and do some good people watching on the street down below. One thing that really bothered me was the manager (or at least I assume shes the manager). On both of our visits she berated her staff in front of customers. It was uncomfortable and I felt bad for them. The only reason we went back the second time after viewing her behavior was because they were dog friendly. After seeing it a second time I'm guessing it wasn't just a fluke though. My advice to her: customers hear and see everything. read more

Are you serious? Cobb salad with three pieces of chicken and no dressing. When I asked for dressing, they brought some vinaigrette dressing. Aren't you supposed to get blue cheese dressing, or ranch? Sat right in front of the TV (1of 3, furthest to the left at a nearly full bar). 5-10 minutes later a couple arrives and asks for a different ball game on the tv we are watching. The bartender changed it without even asking if we are watching. So I say "Can you put the game we were watching on the middle television? We came here just to watch it." He responds "No-these people are watching the game that is on." So all 3 TV's are on the same game AND he respected other patrons enough to ask them first. Interesting. Decided on John Doughs because of the locale and the fact that I could get pizza while the wife could get sushi and we could peoplewatch from the deck above the street. We started with the Muscles Marinara. I prefer them in wine and garlic, but the red sauce was ok and they came with a ton of bread to sop the sauce with, albeit the bread was slightly stale, but no matter I love me some shellfish tomato juice. My wife had 2 rolls of sushi which were good, not amazing but certainly good and I ended up ordering the streak frittes because they were said to be featured on diners drive-ins and dives and I am a sucker for that stuff. I asked for the steak medium-rare but it was medium-well for sure. It was a thin flank steak so I didnt bother sending it back. The seasoning was great and we had a nice view so whatevs... We had two drinks each and all in all our bill came out to be $100 before tip. It seemed pricey but we didnt exactly order smart and it is ptown. Even the pizzas will run you about $15+ a pop and I think thats individual sizes but Im not sure. I would go here again, but next time I will stick to pizza and beer. read more

I have no reason to go back here other than to just grab a beer and people watch. I ordered a Bloody Mary which was very weak and tastes like straight-up tomato juice. They give you a small price of celery and a couple olives. The celery was soft, like it was frozen at one point. The food was nothing to be excited about. We got the Tokyo Tower and Mexican Taco Salad Bowl (I don't remember the exact name). I don't recommend the salad bowl at all. The taco bowl was slightly stale, and didn't have any seasoning. The waiter came off rude and on our way out complained about other patrons which I felt to be very unprofessional. I've have been to this place almost every time I've been to P-Town. The pizza and sushi are great and the staff have always been awesome. They even let my friend charge her phone behind the bar. While Provincetown is by far one of my favorite places on Cape Cod, I can easily say that after one (and only one) visit, JD's was not. We (my girlfriend and best friend) were served water in little plastic cups. We seated in the far corner of the restaurant in cheap, plastic deck chairs which were an absolute turn off. The waitress that served us, as well as the entire waitstaff present, did not seem to genuinely care about serving customers, or even interacting with customers. Throughout our entire meal, no one checked in with us, but rather gave us dirty, and frustrated looks from across the room. I wont make a comment regarding the food because it truly was not terrible just insanely overpriced. But hey, that's Cape Cod for ya. When it came time to receive the check, the waitress took her sweet time coming to the table and didn't understand how to scan a credit card with their "new" technology. If they can afford wireless card readers and POS systems, you'd think they could afford decent chairs, as well as actual glasses for water. I will not be returning. read more

Poor service and disgusting food. First thing, the bartender gave me the wrong beer. Second, after we moved to a table and told our server the beer was not right, he shrugged. Came here to watch a Sunday night football game during a birthday getaway. The wait staff was above and beyond accommodating. Believe it or not, you can get pizza AND sushi.
