Pretty tasty fast-like food served up here at this spacious, casual restaurant located in the Shops at Farmington Valley mall. Our choices were the grilled chicken sandwich ($9.99), bacon cheeseburger ($9.99) and crispy chicken burger ($9.99) plus drinks. We passed on their dirty fries, almost all of which seem to come drenched in some sort of sauce (barbecue, poutine, taco, you-get-the-ides, etc.), but a friend dining across from us said they were "wow." We liked our sandwiches, freshly made, simply sized and available with all sorts of additions like garlic aioli, cilantro, onions, etc.). The staff was friendly, the service a bit on the slow side though they weren't;t especially crowded. All in all, a good experience, we'll return when we're in the neighborhood.

This location is conveniently in the middle of The Shoppes at Farmington, which has a lot of great stores. If you're already here, I suggest stopping by. My food was served out of a cardboard bucket. I was not expecting gourmet, but the poutine tasted great. It was basic and perfect. Crispy fries, excellent gravy, great ratio of cheese curds. The only thing I can say is more gravy would have been nice, but I understand the delicate balance, and maybe too much gravy would make the french fries soggy. I'm not a chef. The poutine was excellent. The atmosphere however leaves a lot to be desired. It's not exactly food you can get for takeout being french fries that would get mushy by the time you get home. The soda they sell are in boxes stacked up around the seating areas. The table I sat at was hopelessly uneven, like a recycled sawhorse from a construction site. But it is clean, and the staff was friendly and delivers your food to the table. The cheeseburger and milkshakes are also great according to my lunch date. I would definitely come back next time I was at the Shoppes.

Takeout review: I walked by this place and thought the menu sounded great for my next cheat meal. The inside looked spacious. Finally ordered takeout recently and really enjoyed the fried goodness they offered. I got the Husky Hot Chicken Sandwich and wow, I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was crunchy and the flavor was on point. It's smoky, sweet, spicy, with pickles, tomato, lettuce, secret sauce on a brioche bun. I really enjoyed it, even though it was messy to eat. I also had the poutine fries; fries with gravy and cheese curds. It came in a bucket and the gravy and cheese curds intermingled well. Overall, not a bad place to get some comfort food.

Finally got to try Jefferson Fry while out shopping on Sunday. A simple hot dog with mustard and relish, naked fries, and a Diet Coke was $15. The hot dog was juicy and flavorful, served in a classic New England style hot dog bun. About as basic as one can get, it was very good. Fries are offered many different ways with all manner of add-ons but I chose the "naked fries," or just plain fries so I could see how they were all by themselves. Fries were hot with a soft center and a close to but not exactly crunchy outside. The fries taste though are a bit smaller than 5 Guys, and less expensive. Service was great on a mid-Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was not busy. 'Twas a fine visit with a solid presentation of an American staple.

$30.55 is a bit much for a one sz small fountain drink (2.99) Loaded fries, you can't get them any other way but drenched in some sauce.. we chose garlic cheese which tasted like goopy warm sour cream & parm dressing w/ garlic powder & shredded cheddar sprinkled on top. I was NOT a fan. I think if I come back, I would ask if I could get the fries plain. They were limp, but seasoned, so they would prob be more tolerable. The fries range in price from 6.49 to 8.99. I opted for my crispy chicken sandwich to come in a bowl vs potato bun. It was ok-ish. The chicken was breaded well & cut into bite size pieces, but was a little rubbery. It was on a fresh bed of shredded lettuce that was crisp, accompanied by diced tomato, whie onion & pickle. The sauce tasted like warm sour cream, but at least it wasn't spinning in like the fries were. I think goopy food is a guy thing, so a guy might enjoy this a bit more than I did. My company got the bacon cheese burger & said the burger patty had decent flavor, the bacon had crunch, but no tasted at all. The onions were diced, so they kept falling out. If the bun size was a bit more reasonable, she would have spent less time collecting all of the condiments & reassembling her sandwich. She said she would not come here again. We have been here 2x & neither were impressive. The girl at the counter was very pleasant & the food came fast. The music was a tad loud, especially when Arianna Grande or Mariah Carey started their warbling virbado. Prices, keep your goopy secret sauce to yourself, & be aware of the of the volume of the music in the seating area. I understand the kitchen staff & workers want to enjoy the music & have to hear it over the various kitchen noises, but be aware that it does effect the dining experience as well. AMMENDMENT: Went to McDonalds I'm Canton same day (out late Xmas shopping) It was $25.09 & twice as good.. No joke, I recommend Canton McDonalds.

I got a bit hungry while I was in Canton today. I stopped by Jefferson Fry, because I've been curious to try their Dirty Fries. They have 17 variations of toppings you can get. I decided to go with Taco fries, but so many of them look like great choices. Taco Fries come with spicy beef, diced pickled jalapeños, diced tomato, onion, cheddar, and topped with cilantro. The guy who I placed my order with, didn't seem particularly friendly. He seemed annoyed when I asked him about the contents of some of the dirty fries. The space inside is very specious, there are a few high top seats by the window, and the rest is pretty typical, table and chair. Pretty quickly my Taco fries were brought out to me. Immediately I was surprised at what a large serving it was. I wish they had sizing options. This was a lot of fries to have on my own. These were flavorful, hot and cheesy, I could taste the jalapeños for sure. The fries were crisp and golden. I really enjoyed them. My one complaint is that I wish they offered sizing options.

Poutine Fries

I've been to Jefferson Fry twice now and have tried both the BBQ Fries and the Poutine Fries. I've enjoyed both but the way the Poutine Fries were served made it much easier to eat than the "bucket"the BBQ Fries were served in on my first visit. It's nice that you can order at the front and get a table marker so the food is delivered directly to you once it has been prepared a nice addition to a fast food/fast casual establishment. It's super casual at Jefferson Fry and it's a great meal time or snack break while you shop! There are several tables inside to accommodate individuals and small parties as well as bigger tables for families. I've also snagged a table outside on one of my visits! With basic fry and seasoning or sauce add on to well over a dozen "dirty fry" choices you can't go wrong! Something to please every French fry connoisseur with toppings as basic as cheese to deconstructed gyros you could make a meal on the fries alone although they do have burgers, dogs, chicken sandwiches and even a portobello option. As someone who usually likes their fries plain with maybe just a dipping sauce on the side, I've really enjoyed experimenting at Jefferson Fry! Maybe 5 stars is crazy fora place like this but I seriously have no complaints based on my two visits within just about a month of each of other!

In August of 2019, we made our first visit to the Jefferson Fry Company at their single location in Cromwell. The French Fry business must be booming, because today (less than two years later), JFC is up to three locations, having added Parkville Market in Hartford, and the Shoppes at Farmington Valley in Canton to their line-up. We visited the Canton store today. JFC is pretty much located halfway between Shop Rite and Chipotle, in the rectangular space occupied by the recently departed B. Good. You can scarf down on your choice of seventeen fry choices including Buffalo, Chicken Curry, Taco, Poutine, Truffle Parm, and more. Basic or "Naked" Fries are just $4.69 but can range up to $8.99 depending on the other ingredients. Adding chicken or beef or pork will get you up near the $9 mark. What else do they serve besides fries? How about burgers, dogs, and sandwiches -chicken or pulled pork or portobello. And if you haven't reached your maximum level of desired gluttony, you can wash everything down with a milkshake for another $5 or $6. We were having turkey burgers for dinner and thought "why not add some fries to have with the burgers", so we ordered Truffle Parm fries ($8.04 with tax) to go. They crisped up fabulously in the air fryer and were excellent.

Limp greasy fries. Lopsided overcooked yet somehow not cooked right burger. Turn up the grill & warm up the meat, maybe??

Sigh. This is one of those places that started out good. Smashed burgers, cooked well, good fries, etc. That was when they opened up. Today, this is one of those places that rivals a school cafeteria in disappointment. Soggy, greasy fries. Wet rolls. Steamed burgers (As in not grilled) Overcooked. All the stuff that made this place great is now gone. It was good before the owner decided "Let's start a franchise!" The fries are overseasoned if you order anything seasoned. Salty to the point where you think: "Is salt poisoning a thing? Is this ok?" Now take a bite of the stingy little steamed burger. I got a microscopic hint of salt and pepper ... then, the savory flavor of soggy meat that was once beef... and mmmm, a quarter cup of mayo! Mayo. My fav2orite. I wonder if this is what Burger King was like back in the 60s? Oh! Wait, wait, there's a drip of flavor on my burger. I think some bacon grease was on the grill. Thank god. Seriously, bro, how hard is it to cook a burger on a grill? Uh. Yeah, JFC, ya gotta get your process and stuff down before ya go for the major leagues. Now, we have a place that's not quite Burger King in the "bad" category, and not quite Five Guys in the quality chain category, and not a really good burger in any category at all. Resoundingly mediocre. Not worth the money anymore. This place really went downhill. 2 stars since I don't think there's any pink slime or chemicals in it.. which is a plus I guess. Uh. Nevermind. I just bit into a very unpleasant half-raw fry. Friggin disgusting. The further I get through these fries, the worse the food is. 1 star.

We stopped by for lunch yesterday and had one of the best hamburgers in recent memory for just $8.50. It was a big thick patty on a soft roll that was pretty much perfect on all counts. The building has a long ordering counter, so be prepared to check out the menu board for all your choices. Think hot dogs, fried fish and seafood, burgers, sandwiches, wings, salads, soups, fries and rings, soft serve and shakes. Their kids' meals are a good deal - burger, dog, tenders, or grilled cheese plus fries, juice box or water, and small ice cream for $10.95. There is limited seating inside, with a few small tables and counters. During our visit we saw a ton of take-out orders, so that seems to be most of their business. One cool thing I saw was a businessman in a suit and tie grab a stool and eat his lunch at a window counter seat. Beau's has plenty of outdoor seating in front and behind the building, so with yesterday's balmy weather we grabbed a table behind the building and dug into our lunch. Between us, we bought two burgers, a cup of Rhode Island Chowder, a Heath Bar shake and a soft drink for around $35 after tax. My chowder was pretty good, with a tasty broth and plenty of diced potatoes and tender diced clams. My wife enjoyed her shake but noted those Heath Bar bits were all clumped together at the bottom of the cup instead of being mixed in throughout. Our first visit to, and experience at Beau's were both quite enjoyable!

Whether dining in or ordering takeout, my recent experiences have been consistently positive. The staff is friendly, and service is generally smooth. The only minor issue I've noticed is that they occasionally run out of certain menu items, especially during busy periods. However, that hasn't taken away from the overall experience. This little unassuming place deserves every one of them! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly man at the counter who seated us and brought menus. He turned out to be very helpful finding out this was our first time here. The store was well lit and clean. The tables were well spaced and not crowded in. My wife stuck to our tradition and ordered the RT 10 Dog with the spicy relish on the side. (Which was great for me) I couldn't resist The Hungry Bull burger. We'll just have to come back again for me to try their hotdogs. The 10' hot dog is a Martin Rosol's so the foundation of this hot dog is super strong. The sauerkraut was tasty and full flavored and just the right amount of mustard. My wife tried the spicy relish, that our server cheerfully supplied on the side, and it was a little too hot for her liking. Bonus for me. I got to put it on my burger. My burger came out stacked on a sturdy Brioche Roll with American cheese, onion straws and some very tasty horseradish crema. My burger was juicy and full of flavor. The onion straws brought the right amount of crunch. Halfway through I began to add in the spicy relish. Amazing. We got fries and onion rings and shared. The fries were big, crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. Just the way I like them. The onion rings were amazing. I like when you bite into an onion ring and the whole onion doesn't come sliding out. These were perfect. Very good crunch and flavor. We have already decided that we will be back. I can't wait to try the hot dogs and the chicken sandwiches that were also calling my name.
