On first impression coming in I felt like I went back in time to an old cafeteria for senior citizens, and it is kind of that way but it's open and airy with plenty of good booth seating. The music is depressing as it's all old mostly from the 70's stuff, which is ok but I don't like crying over my food usually! Bit of a joke there so don't get upset if you love it! The good news is the food is actually pretty good! Usually these types of restaurants actually do cater to the local elderly crowd and so sometimes the food is understandably bland but not so much this time. I was seated instantly (apparently seat yourself) and was greeted immediately by Kelci,, a great server with a very pleasant and beautiful smile and a very professional and efficient demeanor. I ordered the grilled catfish with mashed potatoes and green beans. The catfish was surprisingly good with a nice flavor (even though the filet was almost tiny, luckily I wasn't too hungry, it still tasted good and the tartar sauce is came with was perfect). The sides I had were mashed potato's (again, nice flavor but no gravy) and the green beans were pretty fresh even though probably from a can, and those were pretty bland. Funny thing is there were no bread options for the meal but it was lunchtime so maybe that's why? They also have a large selection of desserts which Kelci helped me pick through. I got a slice of German chocolate cake which was huge and delicious, I couldn't finish it. Also the tea is good old southern tea, I had the half and half because it's pretty sweet but that's the way it's supposed to be! Overall the place was very clean and smelled nice. There's ample parking outside and the location is convenient. I will probably come back when in the area but won't make a drive from where I live in Cartersville just to eat here. So overall I'm giving 5 stars for the excellent service (thank you Kelci), 4 stars for the food, 3 for the atmosphere (kick up the music to add in some modern rock or something!) and 5 stars for cleanliness, parking and location. Definitely recommend for locals and folks passing through.

There were only two other occupied tables. So they put us in a back room with one loooong picnic table, no air and a noisy heat producing ice maker. We have experienced this before with the service dog. It's discriminatory without being guilty. The wet brisket was absolutely incredible as was the turkey. Although it didn't technically NEED any sauce we wanted to try their sauces, because...well...it's bbq. There were no condiments, no sauce, no napkins on the table and we could not get anyone's attention to ask for any until we were almost done. Even getting up to find someone was fruitless because they would disappear. They were out of chicken and the peach pudding so we missed out on that but the brisket was definitely worth going back for. Maybe to go next time though.

The sides were served in these tiny cups that probably contained about a half of what one would usually consider a decent portion. The beans were okay (I hit a few that were undercooked to the point of being crunchy. But good grief, the collard greens tasted like someone had squirted bug spray in them. Utterly inedible. My wife tried one bite and instantly regretted it. I put the tiny bowl full of greens on the edge of the table, hoping our server would notice they were untouched and would offer a substitute. Nope. Didn't see him again until the end of the meal, and he had no curiosity about why they were uneaten. My wife got meat loaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Her observations: green beans out of a can, mashed potatoes meh, meat loaf "edible." She asked the server when he brought our plates if she could have some butter and he pointed to a rack of little containers and said, "There." She didn't have on her glasses and didn't realize those little packets did NOT contain butter but instead some hideous fake butter spread that was old and awful. Turned the okay potatoes inedible. Once again, the server ignored that they were untouched. Service leaves a lot to be desired. The employees seem nice and earnest but don't seem to grasp what service should entail. If they see that a customer hasn't touched some of their meal, they should make some attempt to make it right. At this point I'm sure you, dear reader, have reached the correct conclusion that we will never be back to, nor can we recommend, Edna's.

None of it was worth $100 for dinner. It seems like this restaurant is mostly finger foods, comparable to Applebee's or Chili's, that is frozen and microwaved.
