I've been shopping at Jeff's Sporting Goods for years. Recently my son and I purchased items for the early Sierra opening. After leaving the store, I received a call from Kevin telling me that I was overcharged for some of the fishing hooks. He told us next time I was in he would reimburse me since I paid cash. When our friend went into Jeff's a couple of days later, he mentioned that he was heading to Lone Pine to fish with us. Kevin put my refund in an envelope and I received my refund while fishing! Just happened to find out about this store this morning on Facebook. They posted two days ago that they had in a specific item in stock and nobody else in the San Gabriel Valley, no, Southern California, has it. Customer service was top notch as the gentleman that helped me called me by my first name every time we communicated after seeing my drivers license at the start of the transaction. None of the major State or Nationwide chain Sporting Goods Stores has this product in stock and none of them can provide the personalized service that Jeff's has. Jeff's has won over my business with just one single transaction!!! It may be a small store and the prices may be a bit more than the major players but it's worth paying a bit more to purchase something you need, especially when it's as scarce as hen's teeth. read more

I'd love to support a small local business, but their fishing supplies are too old. Bought some 4 lb test fluorocarbon line here but it is so old and brittle that the line breaks on casting. Maybe their other supplies are fine, but skip buying line here or you'll lose fish & lures to old brittle line that's been sitting on the shelf for who knows how long. read more

I took my firearms safety certification test here as my previous one had just expired. I also bought my Glock 19 the same day I passed my test. The employees are extremely nice, patient, and knowledgeable. I feel much more comfortable going here rather than any of the other gun shops in the area. The best customer service ever!!!! So, I brought my son in to purchase his letterman jacket. They spent an extended amount of time with us, didn't rush us, and walked us through it every step of the way. We were unable to complete one sleeve of my son's jacket(our issue), so they told us as soon as we were ready just bring it back and they would complete. We ordered jacket on 3/26/18, we were told jacket would be complete on 5/25/18. It was ready on that exact date and they called me to pick up. 2 weeks ago, we had all details for incomplete sleeve, we brought in jacket and were told we would have jacket back by 10/12/18. Well, wrong... we got it back in less than a week. Are you kidding me. When they called me I thought they were joking. Jacket looks perfect... as a mom, I cried, embarrassed my son... but that's my job... proud mama!!! Jeffs was originally on Valley Blvd across from Boy's market. The owner Bob Jeff Sr., his sons Harold and Bobby Jr. helped their father on a daily basis. Bobby Jr. was on SGHS baseball team All the school jackets came from Jeff's. As you walk in, there was an elk or moose head that Bob Sr. had shot in Alaska. Little known fact is that Harold of Harold's Electronics across the street actually started in the rear of Jeff's Sporting Goods on a bench!. Honestly I don't write reviews a lot, but some how i felt like they were so bad I had to!! I went in to get my fishing reel have line put on it. This is very basic yet complicated. If you are bad at spooling line you can definitely mess up the reel or have it before way under par. Anyhow so he goes and puts line on it when he came back and showed me i saw slack line on top of tight line. If you are not a fishermen, that means this would cause the fishing reel to not cash correctly. He argued that he has been doing this for so and so many years. Long story short I didn't want to argue with him so I just paid the 6 damn bucks and left pissed off!. I took and went right over to Turners sporting Goods and had it taken off and put new line on the reel. They dont' know what they are talking about. read more

Definitely loved this place. They have a wide variety of fishing equipment and are full of information. Every person I have run into at this shop is extremely helpful and do not try to upsell you. I purchased a fishing rod from this location at the lowest price anywhere in Los Angeles, and trust me, I researched everywhere! Very competitive prices on fishing line and gear. I don't know about the rest of the sporting goods, but the fishing section is great. I only took away a star because they don't have very many "lower end" rods and reels (which may be a good thing); but when I need to buy an extra rod for a buddy for a one time trip, it's a bit hard to spend so much. This is a great sports goods store because it is a store that just contains sports gear needed to play a certain sport you want.

I wanted to like this store, but I don't believe I will be going back. I like to take my time in sporting good stores and look at everything. The three times I visited the store I was followed and watched. I understand customer service and protecting your assets, but I was not made to feel comfortable. Call it what you will, I have been told I have that look to me. Bottom line is the firearms are priced very high, not competitive in that department whatsoever, especially in relation to what else is available in the area. Do yourself and your wallet a favor. Do not purchase a firearm here. I was shopping and price comparing for a handgun purchase. I asked to see a specific handgun they had in the case. The gentleman asked for my handgun safety certificate. I keep it home in my safe.The gentleman explained that its company policy, that if I don't have it, I cant see the firearm. The reason given was I might drop the handgun and damage it. It was also explained to me, without me inquiring whatsoever, that the gentleman who had just left, the parking enforcement officer, he was able to handle the firearm he was interested in purchasing without a certificate cause he was a cop. To each their own. I feel we have enough restrictions and hoops to jump through here in California concerning arms. I decided i'm not going to give my business to judgmental suspicious business owners who are only perpetuating stupidity and restrictions. They can keep company policy, It will never effect me again. read more

Tried out Jeffs for the first time a week ago and had bad experience because of their firearm handling policy that you need to present your hsc in order just to handle a firearm. Against my better judgement, went back today, after calling ahead to make sure they had a m&p9 in stock (which they said they had one left.) Came in to the shop, presented my id, hsc, and utility bill to purchase the m&p, only to hear a few minutes later from the clerk that somebody had placed the "m&p9" signage next to a m&p40, and they really didn't have an m&p9 in stock. Wasted time and gas coming down to an unprofessional shop who's right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Thanks but no thanks. No apologies necessary guys for the type of shop you're running. I didn't do it before, but I'll be sure to get the word out about my two experiences at Jeff's as a warning to other shooters out there.
