Very cool, techie interior and atmosphere. Didn't eat there but the menu was very different and not your typical fare. I wouldve loved to try something but I was there for the drinks. This restaurant has a cool vibe and is definitely sticks out in the Erie area. The actual restaurant is extremely small, but it has a good selection of beer. Also the food is pretty good, with a rotating menu. I had the homemade shrimp mac and cheese, which was delicious. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in downtown Erie. It is a must for someone who is looking for a cool local restaurant. Just remember that this place is seriously small, so be prepared to be cramped a bit. read more

We came here on a Friday night to watch my boyfriend's good friend play live music. We showed up a little later in the evening after dinner so we did not partake in the food, but the menu looked really good. This review is purely on the atmosphere and the grand beer selection that was available to us. First off, it was a really fun crowd and the music was awesome. Second, the restaurant was clean and the restrooms were as well. Third, the beer selection is awesome and they have tons of beer on tap. It was late night happy hour when we showed up so all drafts were half off. Score! It gave me the opportunity to try a few different things. They also have these chilling discs on the bar to keep your beer cold, which I have never seen before so it was pretty exciting! The girls behind the bar were helpful, quick, and friendly. Considering that this is the only bar I went to while in Erie, I cant really compare it to anything else. read more

The bartender was a female with Godly looking hair and a personality of a two by four not a smile not a hello how are you today nothing bartender 2 comes in a was no better not one word this bar manager definitely needs to find new barmaids or make it self service they do more business. I asked for a burger cooked medium. I received a burger charred beyond recognition. I may as well have dug into a piece of burnt wood for all the flavor that was left in the thing. Shame, too, because the menu description made it sound promising. I do enjoy that they offer more interesting side choices than just fries, though. Haven't lived in Erie for a few years and this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Visited the bar on Wednesday before thanksgiving and the band was phenomenal and they even had a drink special. Stopped by today to get my favorite black bean burger and ramen slaw. I noticed the chef was different than when I lived in Erie in 2012 - but it shouldn't make too big of a difference. The food quality has gone down and my waiter was a jerk. It's really too bad cause I do like this place a lot. Just need some happier employees with less attitude. Maybe they were having an off day - but those experiences are always remembered. read more

Had the garlic grilled cheese sandwich. The portion size is good. Presentation was good. Better than expected for bar food. But, now that i think about it, i don't remember tasting the garlic. Searched for gastropub on www while at the beach glass festival and came upon J&H. We're from CLE. Tons of beers on tap incl locals. Menu is different from std in a very good way. Leans veg/healthy but I had a flank steak/egg salad on pita that was just very goooood. All four of us really enjoyed our choices enough to tip chef and I'm gonna guess its all super. Go. read more

I wish this place just had more room. But as with most places in downtown erie, it's usually shoulder to shoulder especially if you go downtown on the weekend. Amazing atmosphere and delicious food that you wouldn't really expect in a bar. The employees are all very attentive, even the kitchen staff are helpful and kind. The Mac and cheese with squash and the one with bacon are both A grade Amazing. I like that they have an open kitchen so sitting at the edge of the bar allowed me to see how efficient and clean it is while eavesdropping on the cooks hilarious conversations and joining in. This was my second trip to jekyl and hyde. My first experience was fun. The menu has some unique vegan/vegetarian options as well as some upscale bar food. This experience was a little different, 1 because of the covid craziness and 2 the menu online didn't match the menu that was presented to us when we arrived. We decided to try the buffalo cauliflower bites as an appetizer. Our waitress was pretty good because the app never showed up. She comped the appitizer. I never asked if this app was deep fried or pan fried. This was my fault for not asking. I decided to try the "impossible" burger. It was good..nothing exciting. My son got the mac n cheese which had bacon and peas in it. It was unique. My wife got the sweet potatoe and Kale salad with chicken. Her salad was the best thing we ate. Currently they do not have a kids menu but we kind of make it woek. All in all they are doing what they can. I wish almost all of the food wasn't deep fried but i (we) love the different types of menu options and may try again whenever the post covid era is over. read more

Good burger. Nice & juicy, good flavor, decent non-iceberg lettuce on a good bakery style roll. I chose tortilla chips as my side. Poor choice, as they did not come with salsa, and tasted like they were just dumped out of a bag. Came here on a Saturday before an otters game. We arrived at 530 so we assumed we would have plenty of time for a beer and a quick bite. They told us there was going to be a hour and a half wait...for sandwiches!! And only about 2/3 of the tables were occupied! Used to like to go there. Always thought the food was good and a large selection of beers. Got to the bar (Jekyll side) at 5:15, ordered at 5:30, at 6:25 had to leave for a hockey game without receiving our food yet. Ridiculously slow service. excellent food. we were the only ones there on a Saturday afternoon but got extra good service because of it. they had Raging Bitch beer which I don't see everywhere. Mac & cheese was great as well as the "devils on horseback". tasty burgers. wasn't crazy about my kale soup, but didn't say anything. the cook saw I didn't eat much and let me taste her chicken noodle. I have never been here before. Seeing an event at the Warner, I was looking for some place close and went here. There was one person bartending and waiting all tables in the front room. While this seems to be more of a place to hang out and try different beers, there were a LOT of people getting a bite to eat before the show (judging by the fact almost everyone left within the same 10 minute window and walked towards the venue). There was a limited menu but it all looked good. It took almost an hour to get out food with 1/2 hour til show time. We were told that due to a large table (6) people, our sandwiches were delayed. When we were served, we had about 5 minutes to eat and leave. If the owners see this, please be aware of what is going on around your establishment and staff accordingly. A 6 top should not throw your kitchen into a panic. The food was good but I had to leave some behind. Will I go back? Sure. There are items I wanted to try but will allow for more time in the future. read more

Don't recommend if you want quick, good food. It took 30+ minutes for our food to be done and my friend and I didn't order anything big. the potato salad was gross and had way to much rosemary. The sandwich was covered with lettuce and not enough meat. The dessert was bland... all in all nothing special. We will probably not be coming back. read more

i guess it was fine, but not as great as i hoped. sitting outside was very nice. inside was too hot and loud. it is kind of tiny in the inside. the food was ok but really nothing special and took forever to prepare. i think it took over an hour for our food to come out and when it came, it was cold. strange huh? read more

So I'm only in Erie for a few days for the outdoor expo, and though it was a rough start, I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. We came in on the back side of the building, it was clean and tidy though there weren't a lot of people hanging around. The blonde bartender who was running the back bar wasn't exactly knowledgeable about the beers and otherwise seemed annoyed that we were in there. We heard a lot of commotion coming from a small hallway when we asked if there was another bar she simply replied "yeah". So we went to the front bar and it was a little darker, more of a bar atmosphere. The Penguins game was on both big tvs above the bar. We were greeted by a small dark haired girl with tattoos. She was friendly tentative and knowledgable when it came to beers. We stayed til around midnight on that side of the bar. What started out a little rough really turned into a good experience and I would recommend jeckyll and hyde's to any Erie resident or passer by. Cheers! read more
