We wanted to find a unique cute little place to eat lunch, and Jelly was it! It was small, but fill of people, and their menu is fill of variety and interesting things. Service was good and atmosphere was nice, it was cleanly and bright. I got the own seated tilapia fish tacos. Pretty awesome. I got the cheese on the side, and I'm glad because it really helped me taste the slight spiciness of the salsa. There was a slice of avocado in each taco, but also a little bowl of guacamole. It was pretty questionable... I'm not a fan of super puréed avocado in general though. The white corn tortilla was awesommmee. You can choose from fries or pasta salad for a side... I chose the pasta salad and apparently no one else does because.... It was still slightly frozen. -__- so I guess they don't make that fresh daily. FYI. Not overly impressed with the food, but the service was awesome. Friendly and efficient waitress. Therein lie the stars. My scrambled eggs were overcooked and dry. The corned beef hash was mediocre. My wife was underwhelmed with her omelet. The restaurant draws a good crowd. Maybe we ordered the wrong items...but eggs? If you can't get eggs right, well...you know. And with the crowd comes the noise, and the restaurant does get loud. I suppose if you're in the neighborhood and craving breakfast, Jelly Cafe might be alright. Me and my wife were in these neck of the woods in search of a local breakfast place that we'd be able to stop at and enjoy. Well thanks to the awesome yelp app which we find ourselves going to on a regular bassist whenever we are out and about. We happened to stumble across this place which other fellow yelpers have dined at rating it good. So with that said we ventured on over. The greeter at the door was friendly and seated us with the quickness. When we were seated, the next interaction was with our waiter who was energetic and quick to put our order in. The best thing about this place is literally the jelly! This is my 2nd time coming to jelly cafe. My first experience was great this one not so much. The server seemed to be mentally somewhere else. Dropped the bill about 10 minutes into or meal and it wasn't even the right bill. My daughter really disliked the Oreo stacks she ordered only took one bite and was like "no not good". I told the server she didn't even ask if we wanted to order anything else just walked away. Maybe she's having a rough day idk. Shame though because her service affected our experience. Just cold and non attentive. Not many vegetarian options don't even think about for finding gluten free or vegan options. They don't exist here. Unable to roll out of bed, we ordered for our third disciple a takeout: Burger with Fries. We waited maybe 10 minutes- just 10 minutes! Not too many quality places containing an awesomely scrupulous menu can flip tables as quickly or efficiently, thus, very impressive to admit the least. Hallelujah! Now that I've been here a few times, plus on a busy meal holiday, I feel comfortable leaving a brief review. We've been coming to this space for years, back when it was a Latino seafood tacqueria, and the current decor is well-suited for a breakfast joint and a big improvement over the previous place. Suffice it to say: great food (haven't left disappointed yet), great selection (specials too), great service (food comes so fast). Last but not least, I'm not a pancake guy, and breakfast places with bland flapjacks are a dime a dozen, but my wife shared hers with me, and they're so good I might even consider ordering them myself next time. Scratch made cooking! I was rather shocked to learn that not only is the corned beef made in house, THEY ACTUALLY CORN THEIR OWN BRISKET!!!!! The Croque Madame is listed in the lunch section, but I saw it as a fantabulous breakfast option. C'mon, all food groups are represented. And don't judge me if I dressed it with their maple syrup blend (bottle on the table, thank you) and Cholula Original hot sauce, also on the table (thank you for thinking of me!). Great brunch spot in the burbs. The place is a little small so expect to wait a bit but the food is worth it. My husband had the country fried steak and eggs. He loved the gravy and said it was very flavorful and wanted more on the side. The country fried steak fried just right and the batter had a nice crunch to it. The dish came with biscuits which were toasted just right, eggs and potatoes. My husband did say that the potatoes were a little under cooked but overall he loved the the dish. I decided to try one of their lunch menu items. I settled on the sandwich and soup combo. The grilled cheese had 3 different cheeses in it and in the middle was crisp bacon and a slice of tomato. The bread was texas toast and it was grilled to perfection. I got also got the chicken tortilla soup which had a nice kick of spice and fresh diced avocado. It was a great combo. Our waitress was prompt and friendly and our food came out really fast. My decaf coffee was always full and and hot and waters were full. Their menu has so many things that sounded delicious, but the banana bread french toast definitely caught my eye, and here's why... 4 slices of banana bread. I repeat... Four. Slices. Topped with chocolate chips, sliced bananas, some sort of cream frosting, and powdered sugar. So freakin' good! Mind you, it's extremely filling and super sweet so despite how much I enjoyed it I was only able to eat about half of it. It reheated nicely as leftovers though! Sometime back I was in Mount Prospect with day long meetings and time to kill. Hunger had set in and I was on the Yelp app locating a good place to have lunch. Luckily for both parties, Jelly Cafe popped up as a local option and once I saw the food porn that Sarah S. provided of her Hash Bennie from July 2013, I was like hell to the yeah! The place is cutesy in decor. Nicer than your average cafe and surroundings quaint enough to enjoy the time whether solo or with a group. Now if only they could offer Wi-Fi, I could have had my Chromebook in their with me taking care of some needed work, whilst enjoying my Bennie. The food was good, as I was thoroughly satisfied with my order. Service was good and my waiter made some small talk while ordering and checking back. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time as they were having a good amount of business during lunch on a weekday. I'm crazy about Eggs Benedict and homemade Hollandaise, which is what my waiter responded when asked whether it was real or canned. Another detail which caught my eye via reviews was the mention of Beignets. I'll tell you any place offering Beignets should be a must and your response to whether or not to have them should always be "of course!" Beignets with jelly are a must. The pairing of this sugar topped, light and airy French donut with a sour jelly, is perfect. Previous experiences had left me having them solo or with a caramel dipping sauce. This was the right amount of sweet for me. Most folks know that Chicago is known for spectacular breakfast and brunch. The suburbs of Chicagoland are riddled with chain eateries which offer some good staples but it's in these random Mom and Pop cafes that wonderful experiences are found. Don't overlook the burbs. I'm pretty upset I pass this cafe a few times a month and never stopped in - what a cute place! After bookmarking, browsing and drooling over the photos of Jelly Cafe dishes on Yelp, I decided to give this place a try with Jacqueline B. for breakfast. Upon entering, I was greeted sweetly by multiple waitresses and was seated right away at a booth near the door. I have never been called "babe" so many times by women! The employees seemed appreciative and sweet to their customers. My coffee and water was served right away and I was excited to check the place out. I'm not sure if it's just a newer concept or if it's a bit of an eyesore to me but I couldn't help but notice the open ceiling. I've noticed places acquiring the open ceiling look more and more but I'm not sure how I feel about it. The place is bubbly, colorful and happy so for some reason the industrial, hardware look on the ceiling didn't mesh well with the rest of the decor. This wasn't anything to be taken seriously or a reason to be given less stars, it was merely a first thought. After browsing the yummy options in the menu, I decided on the Almond Berry French Toast...mostly because I had seen a few photos from fellow Yelpers who had gotten this picturesque dish and I had to get it for myself (and take my own pictures of course). One thing I must say is, HOW PERFECT. This was the prettiest french toast I had ever eaten! The toast itself was covered in tiny almond slivers which gave it a satisfying nutty flavor and crunch, they were so perfectly yellow and yet still soft and pillowy! And yes, I am still talking about the toast! Aside from the nuts, there was powdered sugar and vibrant strawberries and blueberries on the toast and plate as well - excellent photo op. Elevenses? Yes, please. Jelly Cafe is proof that the American diner concept doesn't have to be boring, bland, or tasteless. Why? Because Jelly Cafe is none of those things. It's super-cute, from the outside to the inside. Nice little wrought-iron bistro tables and chairs sit outside -- and they're both big enough and spaced well enough that you'd feel totally comfortable sitting out there on a nice day. It's relaxing and inviting, with some nice hanging baskets of flowers keeping the area pretty and homey. Then you go inside. The decorations are modern without being uncomfortably so. It's not hipstery; it's homey and comforting, but it's also not your sainted great grandmother's sitting room with floral wallpaper and plastic covers on all the furniture. Super nice. The tables are nice, but the high-backed booths are even nicer. They do a great job of keeping your conversation within your area, and keeping other peoples' conversations outside. Very nice. The food! Most of the Yelpers who have reviewed this place have mentioned the beignet & jelly side as a must. As my SO says, "if it's in the name of the place, you pretty much have to try it." We did. Four of the most beautiful freshly-made, cinnamon-sugar dusted beignets you could ever want to see came out with a little dish of their homemade fruit sauce...er, "jelly." I don't say "jelly" mockingly; it's just not set the way most jellies are, but that's a good thing in this case. Picture the most delicious jelly doughnut you've ever had. This is better. I guarantee you this is better. That is, unless your mom or grandma made that doughnut in your mind, in which case I'm a liar. (Of course your mom's and/or grandma's is better! But this is a close second!) We came in around 11am on a Thursday morning, so it's prime brunch time. I'm the kind of girl who could easily eat breakfast for any meal of the day. My SO went with the portabella and steak panini with a side of pasta salad, and I went with the croque madame. We also each had a fresh fruit smoothie: he had strawberry/pineapple, while I had strawberry/mango. The smoothies were delicious, and exactly as advertised. Definitely hit the spot for a smoothie craving. The croque madame at Jelly puts a slight spin on the traditional croque madame. Instead of just being the fanciest, nicest grilled ham and cheese you'll ever eat (I say it's the gruyere that does it), Jelly takes away the Mornay sauce and makes it with french toast instead. So even though you have the fried egg on top, it's still marginally less messy. (I still didn't pick it up and eat it with my hands, though.) The breakfast potatoes that come with the croque madame are very tasty. The croque madame itself isn't crunchy at all (which, well, "croque" does mean "crunchy," but I'm not complaining because it's really tasty), but crucially, some of the potatoes *are*. I love crispy, well-seasoned breakfast potatoes. I also noticed that you can order traditional hash browns as a side, if your breakfast palate isn't satisfied by mere breakfast potatoes. Most places only have either/or, so that's really nice of Jelly to do. My SO's portabella and steak panini was HUGE. He's a boy who can throw down on a much bigger amount of food than I can, and even he said it was huge! The pasta salad was very tasty, with a nice vinegary kick to it. The horseradish sauce served with the panini was creamy and smooth and flavorful, and suited the sandwich beautifully. (It wasn't bad on my breakfast potatoes, either.) All in all, definitely a good experience. We'll be back, and we'd probably recommend it to everyone we know. Just ok. Food wasn't bad. Not sure why this bothered me, but here it is.... We sat down and on the table I saw a bottle of maple syrup in a bottle you really only see when it's pure maple syrup, not the fake stuff. It's that round glass bottle with the tiny handle. I have one at home because I only buy real maple syrup from Canada. Normally when I go for breakfast I don't order anything where I would use the syrup unless I know it's the real stuff... I would stick to eggs like an omelette or skillet. I felt a bit deceived by the glass maple syrup container, so I ordered some pancakes. Yes, I should have asked ahead of time... I know that's partially my fault. When they brought the pancakes out I asked about the syrup and they told me they put the fake stuff into those containers. I ended up bringing the pancakes home and ordered a skillet instead. The skillet was ok. It had chorizo sausage in it. Now, I'm sure everyone knows there's good chorizo and not good chorizo like anything else. I don't think this was the good chorizo. It was a red color and it seemed like it was turning the rest of the eggs and food red. That might be a sign that there's food coloring in the chorizo. A flower in a pretty little vase at our table, big glasses of ice cold water AND our own little carafe of coffee. Score. My fiance and I tried the eggs and corn beef and hash. This place is to die for. First of all is adorable and has such a cool atmosphere. When there is no line they seat you right away and the service is outstanding. I got the lox scramble and it was so good. Usually it can be really salty or fishy, depending on where you get it but it was amazing. My date decided to be unhealthy and got the Nutella and strawberries waffles. They were amazing. So worth running a marathon after. It's a small place and has a little patio in the summer. Having said that our waitress was super friendly and helpful. I built my own omlette with swiss, mushroom, bacon and chorizo came with a side of home fried potatos and wholewheat toast. Excellent value and a huge portion, tasty to boot! This and a pot of coffee which was ok but not strong enough or hot enough for my liking. UPDATE: Hello smug owner Billy. Thank you for finally taking the time to come out of hiding and addressing your dissatisfied customers for poorly made food. My husband only mentioned that we are yelpers AFTER we received our prepared dishes to prove that we have photos of what a normal dish looked like. Your response of one dish having more than the other does not make sense as we BOTH were lacking corned beef. We did not expect you to treat us "special" and I'm glad that you did not. This just reiterates that you truly do not care about your customers. We watched you walk past us multiple times with your nose in the air to avoid eye contact after knowing that there was an egg shell in my dish, but you had no trouble coming by to take our money. You just confirmed that when you are busy, you should expect garbage to be served and an unapologetic staff asking if you want it remade with attitude. Sounds like it would a delicious spit-filled meal. You weren't sorry at the restaurant and you aren't sorry now. I'm sure you'll find some other excuse as to what went wrong instead of owning up to your mistakes and just truly apologizing. At the end of the day, you lost two loyal patrons that had always spoken very highly of this establishment. Goodbye. _____________________________________________ This has been the go-to breakfast spot for my husband and I for over a year now. I had to cut out poached eggs and hollandaise sauce with my recent pregnancy and was looking forward to having the hash bennie again. I've been doing the corned beef hash and scrambled eggs instead, which just isn't the same. When I asked my husband where he wanted to go for his first father's day brunch, he chose Jelly. I went ahead and made a reservation for 6 adults and a high chair for our 7 week old. My husband and I both ordered the hash bennie and noticed that the corned beef amount was normal on one side of the English muffin and practically none on the other side of the muffin. This was the case with both our dishes. We brought this to our server's attention and she seemed to have an attitude about it. She brought it back and relayed that the owner says that portions are normal. The owner stopped by herself and tried to play off that the portions we've received in all our prior visits were extras of someone else's. We didn't want to argue about it so we started digging into our food. Poached eggs were overcooked on both dishes, the potatoes are mushy and cold, and my corned beef even had an egg shell in it. This was outrageous. We asked to speak to the owner again and she decided to avoid us instead. No apologies for the overcooked eggs or the chunk of egg shell. The server only asked us if we wanted the dishes remade. Given the attitude and poor service, no thanks. The owner eventually stopped by to grab the check and had a smug smile on her face. Still no ownership as to what happened. Apparently this is the new norm now. She clearly does not care at all about customer service and quality control. I've highly recommended this place to all of my friends and family and even considered holding my baby shower here. I'm glad I didn't. Don't worry, we won't be spending any more money here and will tell all our friends and family the same. read more

Loved everything about this brunch place. I love trying out new local brunch places. And this was a new found. Ordered a Florentine egg Benedict, awesome and amazing. Best Baked potatoes on the side. The fruit shake was pretty icy which I generally don't like, but tasted good. Service was good and it was a neat place. They also had a party being setup after 3. Will surely visit more often. Back to review again, still sticking to the rating. Try the fresh strawberry freshly sqeezed orange juice. AMAZING. read more

Fist time here,have to say very nice place,friendly staff and cool ambient. I had a turkey panini w waffle fries thats less then 10$.....pretty cheap. As a dessert i ordered banana-strawberry-nutella crapes. You'l get 3 crapes covered with small pieces of bananas/strawberries and nutella of course. I would add more nutella to crapes and less fruit.....but that's me After all,it's a good place to visit for breakfast or brunch + 5 stars read more
