The coffee is always delectable even without mountains of sugar, and I always find something new to try on the menu. I've yet to be disappointed. So I went to this spot today for the first time & I was excited to try it. I was meeting some out of town friends & they had heard good things. So, when I called to see if I could make a reservation, I got a recording which stated that in order to reserve a table ahead of time I had to use an app, but I couldn't hear the name of the app - sounded like Delta? Idk. Couldn't understand the name of the app - Yelp, apparently. Anyway, I just went down there at noon & the host said it would be an hour wait. I almost pulled the plug, but decided to go ahead & relax & chat with my friends for a while & just wait it out even though we were starving. 45 mins goes by & we got our table a little earlier than expected. They took our order right away, which was cool. My friends ordered a vegetation breakfast, but even though I'm not vegetation, the veggie sandwich sounded good. I asked to sub caramelized onion in place of the peppers & mozzarella in place of the goat cheese. 15 mins later our food arrives. My sandwich was missing the pesto, so I had to ask for a side, the onions were raw & the main part of the sandwich was this promised "marinated portobello mushroom". It was basically nowhere to be found other than that it barely made it onto the bread. So it felt like I paid $10 for a lettuce, onion, tomato & cheese sandwich on a not toasted roll (menu said toasted) with a side of bland "rustic potatoes". Basically lightly mashed boiled potatoes with a teaspoon of sour cream & scallion garnish - no seasoning whatsoever. I took half the sandwich home & gave part of it to my preggo friend. I'm gonna put chicken on it so it can somewhat be worth it. Ugh. They get 2 stars because I tasted my friend's dishes & they were decent. Probably won't give them another try, unfortunately. I love love love Jelly! I moved to Denver a year ago, and have been trying out restaurants while I explore the city. I live near the Jelly on 13th Ave in Cap Hill, and have been there probably once a week since i moved here. This Jelly definitely has a different vibe than the Cap Hill location, but I absolutely love this place. The coffee is divine! (I'm a New Yorker, coffee is important) and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Literally, I didn't see the bottom of my coffee cup once. I'm usually a lunch person, so I can testify that all their burgers are great, but you seriously have to try their Benedicts. Amaze-balls. Seriously. I'm a big fan of breakfast/lunch places. I try to find one in every city I live in. For Denver, Jelly's it. read more

While we frequent and love the food and environment of this establishment consistently we feel it is important for management to be aware of the conduct and lack of professionalism of the host working on Monday 9/1/14 at 11a. While a wait is understandable for such a popular establishment the way the wait was managed this morning was quite frustrating for numerous customers. At one point there were 20 open seats and an hour wait. Some customers became so frustrated they began just seating themselves. We would have had more patience for the hostess in the moment, but she was consistently rude and confusing in the way she communicated. As a restaurant employee myself I know that there are systems set in place to handle a crowd. She did not seem capable of managing her job. Your restaurant lost several customers this morning. Best casual, fun brunch in Denver. Service is always great. Food combinations are always flavorful and filling. The smoked salmon Benedict and the donut bites are our favorites. The salted caramel donut bites are amazing! Even the basic breakfast is flavorful and delicious. During more popular times, the wait can be a bit long, but well worth it. This place is far better than the ever popular snooze. If you are a child of the 80s, you will especially love the decor. The only negative is the cost of drinks. Whenever I'm in the Denver area, this is the first place I think of to get a fantastic meal. Not only is the staff incredibly friendly and accommodating, but the menu is out of this world! Breakfast, brunch, lunch, desert- they've got it all. Perhaps one of my favorite things about this little gem of a restaurant are the doughnuts that they make in-house! If you want brunch near DU, I'd suggest going to Dietrich's next door. Jelly's gets a lot of hype, but in my opinion the food is just okay. The portions should be larger for how much you pay and they put sour cream on the potatoes for some reason. They do have bottomless mimosas. On Sundays, you will have to wait for at least 45 minutes if you come between 10 and 1. read more

I was very hesitant to write this review, as i am normally a big booster for local restaurants. There's nothing i love more than finding a gem and making a recommendation. However, in the case of Jelly, my experience fell so far short, I felt that i needed to share this feedback for the sake of others as well as the restaurant management/owners. The service was fine. Location was good. Ambience, perfect for a breakfast/lunch joint. Menu had enough novelty that I was excited to try it. Went for the beet salad with grilled chicken, and thats where it went off the rails. Much to my surprise, the chicken was the same packaged strips of tyson chicken that you can buy at Costco. That pre-cooked, rubbery, odd tasting, borderline fake chicken that doesnt taste good at home. Or on a salad that cost $13.50 for a few strips of fake chicken, a handful of beets, and just a hint of feta a top a small plate of salad (mind you, it is billed as a BIG salad).. To add insult to injury, the parmesan vinaigrette tasted soley of garlic, and no parmesan. But aside from the cost, the size, and the dressing, it was really the fake chicken that i found appalling. This was a business lunch and i didn't want to make a scene, so I didnt send it back. I have only returned a dish maybe twice in all my years of dining, but this certainly would have been a reasonable third. I may have simply ordered the wrong thing. The others i was with seemingly enjoyed theirs. But i would be hard put to return there if i assume that fake chicken is the level of quality they use across the board. Nothing would make me happier than to see a response to this post that says i hit it on a bad day, or they ran out of fresh grilled chicken breast, or that i had the one bad item on the menu. So, if thats the case, someone . .anyone. . please set me straight. read more

Yeah Jelly # 2. This will be the first and now I know the last time I stroll in at 10 am and sit right down (2 of us). Coffee delicious and refilled frequently. Sweet potato hash with chorizo very delish. I also hear the standard eggs benny is outstanding according to my partner in crime. Jelly is bustling, bright and noisy-cheery noisy, like neighborhooders enjoying their Saturday morning with scrumptious treats. I don't want you to like it so I can stroll in and sit down on any weekend morning but you will love it so you might as well get after it as soon as possible. Incredibly disappointed. Had a great experience at the cap hill location. Went first thing this morning for breakfast at Jelly U to try it for the first time. The one thing that threw me off was completely unmelted cubes of cheese in my "boulder" scrambler. The place wasn't even busy yet, as it was 7:30 am on a Saturday. The food should be identical to the cap hill location. I think there was two pieces of spinach and three little pieces of mushroom in the scrambler. Just super weak. read more

We planned an outing at 8:30 am yesterday for my mother, two sIsters and daughter. We were excited to eat together at Jelly has two of us had been before and had great experiences. Decided to give Jelly another shot since they are the closest to my house and their good rating on here. Service was worse than last time if that's possible. Food still mediocre. Ordered 3 items. A Benedict. Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes. Donut Bites. Never received Donut Bites. When telling the waitress it took her an addition 15 minutes to remove from bill. I cannot stress enough how bad the service is here. If you want to order something make sure you do it when you see your waitress the first time or you will not have the opportunity. Ration your water because you will not get a refill. And when it comes time to pay plan to spend at least another 30 minutes (not kidding) for waiting on the bill and for them to run your card. The Benedict was decent. 3/5 everything was cooked correctly. The spinach was a little off somehow so that kept it from being great. Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes were undercooked. 2/5 Pretty lackluster for their special pancake of the day and yet again undercooked. Seems they have a problem with their timing here. So I have given them two opportunities and that will be all. The closest breakfast place to my house and I will gladly drive past it to a better one. As a breakfast lover I cannot give a lower rating for Jelly. Both experiences were just unbelievably bad. read more

I don't think I've ever had such poor customer service. Sat by myself at the bar, June 25 at 1130am. The young lady working as the barista was in her early 20's, straight brown hair in a pony rail, was hands down the worst waitress I've ever had. I ordered coffee and a mimosa, and eggs Benedict. Food was awesome, as always. However, once she brought everything to me, she completely ignored me for a solid 30 mins. Never asked how it was, or if I needed anything else. My coffee cup and mimosa class say empty for over 20 minutes, and she never asked if I wanted more, never refilled water, never made eye contact with me. She spent plenty of time flirting with a guy at the end of the bar, and refilled his drinks twice, while never even looking at me. Then, 30 mins later, she brought my check, and put it in front of me without making any eye contact or saying anything, ignored all my empty glasses, and walked off. I would have stayed longer, drank more and spent more money, but I was so insulted and upset that I just paid and left. She never said thank you ONCE until I was halfway out the door. I love Jelly, they have great food and drinks and I recommend them often. But I'm done. I won't be back ever again, completely as a result of this awful awful service. read more

Came here with a group of friends on the recommendation of a friend who we were visiting in Denver who raved about the jelly here, but we would find out that this place is so much more. We came in on a Thursday around 1030 am and this place was packed so there was a small wait for a table, but the hostess said we were welcome to sit at the bar while we waited. We saw that there was a special for bottomless mimosas for $10. Yes you read that right. $10! (A noon time nap was much needed after this) As we got our drinks we decided to take a picture and the server hilariously decided to photobomb us. Shortly after we were seated at a table and the server provided us a pitcher with the bottomless mimosas. The server was very friendly and offered us suggestions. We shared a few of the donuts (i forget which ones, thai, bacon?) and they came freshly made. These donuts were amazing! I also ordered the haco benedict which is eggs benedict with a stew of chorizo, tomato, roasted poblano, and smoked paprika on a biscuit, w/ poached eggs and hollandaise.
